Anybody else playing the Lunar remastered collection? I never beat either game back in the day, got maybe 1/4 or 1/3 through the first, 1/2 or so through Eternal Blue. They were good, but I just happened to hiccup and never go back on either. I can emulate them but I wanted to support the series and have the option to play them on Switch whenever and wherever I please.

They're classics, fairly challenging, basic fantasy JRPGs with a lot of charm. I haven't seen it mentioned here so I wanted to post this. Luckily I nabbed a physical copy recently for a normal price. I think they're getting more stocked so the prices should stay sane.

Fuck scalpers.

If I had never played a JRPG would this be a good one to start with?

Yeah it really would. It's not heavy on graphics (though for what they did it's nice), but gameplay and story. There is a lot of worldbuilding. Characters and townspeople talk and interact more in this game than most JRPGs so it feels like a nice little fleshed out fantasy world. It has a wholesome charm.

Best part is, even if you don't care about it having that, the combat is solid and the turn-based battles, though fairly basic, are challenging. They did add the option to speed up battles up to 3x speed, which is a damned godsend here. One main reason I likely never finished them when I owned them on PSX is due to the speed of combat - it was so slow. The game was also fairly grind-heavy, but I hear they fixed that too and now you level quicker.

All-in-all it seems like a perfect remaster so far. You even have the option to play the old version of both games here if you want to.

I'm waiting for a sale, not spending 50 currencies on some ROMs.
Been meaning to play them for years and I already know I'll love them.

I can see that. To me it was worth full price. I'm not sure if they will restock and scalpers will lose, or if it will wind up going for $70-100 ad infinitum so I saw one for $60 and got that. I'm okay with it, but if in a year there is a glut of supply on shelves for half that I'll be a little annoyed.

I already played them in 2020 and 2022 so I don't see the point of playing them again. They are pretty good, especially the second one.

Speaking of Working Designs has anybody else here played Silhouette Mirage? It's a 2D platformer on PSX (originally Saturn) and it's fucking wonderful. I've been meaning to replay it. Such a hidden gem.
