as someone intersted in Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, what am in for?
What's the best way to play the games, which versions?

FF pixel remaster has font issues. Mod hardly helps. Emulating gba (FFVI with color, audio patches) or snes or psp or the ds version is better.
FFX for me looks kinda the same remaster and emulated. But some people prefer the original ps2 look. Emulate the international version on ps2, it’s basically the same experience.
FF12 remaster removes artworks and changes unnecessary things. Emulate the international zodiac version on ps2.
FF7 pc version gives access to mods that some people like. It’s still a great game emulated. Try mednafen or duckstation.
KH1 final mix on ps2 doesn’t have good english patch. You need to load the unpatched iso to bypass certain issue if you emulate.
KH2 final mix on ps2 has good english patch.
But the PC version of kingdom hearts removes the European audios, they are good voice acting with matching subtitle. Good for language learning imo.
Try these games I mentioned first. Then you can come back and ask for more.

which versions for 1-6? GBA?
>FFX, international version
So not the english version or whatever?
also yeah cause holy shit, those shadings or whatever make all the characters look bad and shit, god.
>zodiac version
aka the zodiac I've seen on steam?
>ff7
so just the normal steam version, yeah?
>KH
what's the deal with the good voice acting? is it a different english cast? Or just japanese voice acting?

Also sorry to say here, but I don't have good enough money for actual consoles lmao.

>So not the english version or whatever?
PS2’s Final Fantasies rereleased their games with more content.
PS2’s FFX International has English option you choose at the start. Check gamefaqs.
>aka the zodiac I've seen on steam?
No. Again the rerelease. PS2’s FFXII International Zodiac Job System.
>what's the deal with the good voice acting?
I meant, they removed German, etc. voice acting in the modern remaster.

Kys.

>Final Fantasy
Turn-based and semi-consistent until around FFXI (the first MMO). SNES games introduce the Active Time Battle system where time moves even while selecting actions (unless you turn it off).
>Kingdom Hearts
Action RPGs. Usually has a section at the opening that lets you tweak how Sora will progress through the game in terms of stats. KH1 has some platforming elements and puzzles requiring the use of magic that don't really come up in later games, or at least not as much. KH2 has a significant fan following due to its combat. Spinoffs tend to get more experimental with the systems, largely due to being released on handhelds.
