We all know that after the unequivocal success of the FFVII remake trilogy, Square will begin work on remaking the greatest FF game of all time (V), so what are some things you'd like to see in it?

Personally, I don't want them to add too much because I feel one of the game's biggests strengths is its balance between gameplay and story, so I really don't think it needs constant cutscenes and voice acting the way they treated FFVII, but I think there are some good ways to flesh out the story and the world without just making a hallway simulator with movies.

One good idea, I think, is to put a bunch of guilds all around the world—one for each job. Sometimes the guilds can be located right in the middle of a town, other times you might have to stray off the beaten path, and some might be deviously hidden in the depths or the sea or up in the sky, but once you find them you can unlock job-specific sidequests that get your dedicated special equipment and/or limit breaks for each job. Maybe the final quest for each guild involves "awakening" the warrior spirit in each job crystal so you can spar against the 1000-year-old avatar of each class from before the worlds were split. Also they would have awesome costumes. That you can win from them.

I also think a lot of things from FFXV could make a return, like cooking, camping, fishing, and maybe even photographs? V has a lot in common with XV in that both games are really about the bond between the main characters, so I think a lot of XV's gimmicks could be comfortably reimagined to fit into V's world. It would really benefit from an extra dose of "comfy", so to speak.

What would you tasteful lads like to see added to a remake of the greatest JRPG of all time?

as a shameless FF15 stan I would be cool with this. I could easy see Galuf being into cooking and Faris being into fishing. not sure how you'd explain photographs in a medieval fantasy setting but I'm sure they could come up with something.

2)a remake would be awful garbage that retroactively ruins it, just like what happened with 7. and the RE series as a whole. and silent hill 2. and every fucking remake.

Just make a new game at that point without Butz and the gang. FFV is great the way it is. I don't think your ideas are bad, but making a FVII Rebirth style remake (even with less cutscenes and voice acting) is waaaay of the mark from what FFV is. FFV is amazing for multiple reasons, but it also has the best pacing of any FF game. The (now) primitive design helps "cut the fat" in a lot of ways while still providing opportunity for character exploration (ex. Visiting Bartz's hometown). I liked the campfire/fishing in XV, but mini game side content would work against this great strength. FFV is a shining example of the era of gaming it's from, and a remake would only serve to "modernize" it in ways that aren't needed.

Also, there is no way they wouldn't fill it with constant cutscenes and voice acting, it's modern SE. V is even more "primitive" than VII so they will need to "fill in" more and change things, no matter what you or I think. I would rather they try to use the appreciated parts of XV you mentioned for a new game, maybe taking more inspiration from their less "cinematic" past catalog. It's okay for new stories to happen.
Also if you're a culture war schizo, they would absolutely change Faris to be some sort of tranny, FYI

The Library of the Ancients was a memorable location. However, it's been rehashed frequently across the series. FF13 might be a source of new, unused ideas. There was an unused Fal'cie, possibly Ultros, that branded people in a library like FF9's Daguerreo.

Obviously FFV doesn't have Fal'cie. But it has the Fiends of the Rift who followed ExDeath because they wanted a world of their own. A world of monsters.
Now, this concept might have been used in one of FF13-2's timelines. Academea, where the Proto-Fal'cie Adam turned everyone into cie'th. But without a time loop it would be a very different scenario. If they can turn people into cie'th, the questions is if they can turn them back.

In FF13, humans that complete their tasks are turned to crystal. And as crystals, their neural pathways can be mapped and simulated inside a virtual reality. We see this is Cid in the Novella.

FF5 has Byblos, who can pull people into books. And, ironically, >>3790783
Ra Devil, the antagonist of the Legend of the Crystal, also mindjacked Cid's brain. Ra Devil arrives in the "Black Moon". It's perhaps similar to FF13's Cocoon. But how it fits into FFV's Cosmology is a mystery.

There's also the creative liberties FF14 took with the FF5 material. The Sealed Weapons, for example. In FF14, they were created by a powerful primal, Eureka. These "trigger" weapons temper people the same way primals do, which is what makes them dangerous.

But FF5's sealed weapons didn't have any explanation accompanying them. They were just powerful end game artifacts to be unlocked.

So, again, FF5 might not have "tempering" or "branding". But there is still this brainhack spirit possession hazard we see with Queen Karnak. With the Queen transforming into Liquid Flame.

Eureka's main body is a cube. But it also projects an avatar as a robed figure.

FF16 also had a mysterious robed figure. Emphasis on "mystery". But personally, I suspect they were going somewhere else with it because they're kind of inconsistent with it. At first it's a phantom only Clive can see. But Jill sees it too. It looked similar to Joshua. But Joshua is shown to be elsewhere. Even Dion asks if Joshua is a "ghost", so I think they were alluding to something other than the fact that Joshua was presumed dead.

The hooded figure is seen at Drake's Breath, as Clive defeats Liquid Flame in the Iron Kingdom. But it's just watching from a distance. And there's just...just...so much wrong with these scene. Right. Like. Ok. The Iron Kingdom abducted Jill's tribe 13 years prior. And 13 years like they're still wearing fur coats in a sweltering volcano. No. just. no.

And then there's the fact that the iron blood speak their own language, it's subtitled at the beginning of the game. Clive also hears voices in a different language too.
But somewhere along the way, everyone starts speaking the same language. Perhaps Clive acquired the the gift of gab when he absorbed garuda or something?

Speaking of the gift of gab. Galuf's granddaughter, Krile, also has the gift of gab. Which she uses to talk to moogles. Clive is able to talk to a moogle once the hunt quests are unlocked. But it seems like nobody else can hear or understand it.

As for Queen Karnak - or - Queen OF Karnak, it's a recurring issue with older games to not give side characters proper names.

The queen refused to turn off the crystal amplifier, because somehow it made her kingdom's blacksmith more efficient. She simply wanted the "prosperity" to continue. But that kind of implies they were impoverished without the crystal. Which might have been the work of another fiend.

It's hard to say if the Ancient Library is within Karnak's borders. I would assume so. The library is also where Ifrit was sealed. Perhaps Karnak needed to amplify the fire crystal simply because Ifrit was missing.

Doesn't imply that at all. All it implies is that the kingdom was more prosperous thanks to exploiting the power of the crystal, which was true of all kingdoms. And why would they willingly give up being more prosperous? It's basic human greed. Also, Queen Karnak's posession was literally just Exdeath. He posessed her, King Tycoon, and that fucking Garula from the water tower in order to help fuck up the crystals faster.

I appreciate FF schizos dedication to his craft, but his need to draw connections often leads him to overlook extremely basic and/or obvious character traits and elements.

I love FFV so much that I have room for more than one version of it in my life. If you've never felt like that about anything, I just feel kind of bad for you.

Like Omega for example. In the original game he was just a dimension-hopping robot fueding with Shinryuu, but FFXV made it known that he was built by the Solheim civilization for the explicit purpose of killing Astrals/Eidolons/Summons. Does that mean Shinryuu is an Eidolon? It kind of makes it extra funny, in hindsight, that Omega was roaming the rift while Shinryuu was hiding in a chest.

They could make a few minor changes to the order of things in the rift and have you fight Omega AFTER you encounter Shinryuu, and he promises to lend you his power as a summon if you beat him and protect him from that big mean robot that's chasing him, lol.

>One good idea, I think, is to put a bunch of guilds all around the world—one for each job.
I also think each guild should have a guildmaster—sometimes a new, original character, or maybe sometimes an existing character that's been given a bigger role.

For example, I think it would be sick as fuck to make the Chancellor of Tycoon into the guildmaster of the Dragoons. He's kind of a cool character anyway, with how he tries to support Lenna and Faris while managing the kingdom in their absence, but I feel like he could use a bit more. It's already implied that Tycoon had an army of Dragoons that fought in a war 50 years ago (they used dragon-riding knights and the king's middle name is "Highwind"), so maybe he's a tired old dude trying to keep the glory of the Dragoons alive, as well as the kingdom?

Jenica, the royal retainer who cares for and schools Faris and Lenna as children could be the guildmaster for the White Mages, as she's specifically teaching the princesses white magic in flashback scenes. Make her analogous to Rosa in that she joined the royal army to look after a particular knight she had feelings for *cough*TheChancellor*cough*, but she never got a chance to declare her love, and he was too stubborn to notice.

I don't think there should be any romance shoehorned into the relationships between the main characters, but having an old, retired Dragoon and White Mage hook up as a subplot would be fun way to play with existing characters, as well as being an homage to Kain and Rosa's would-be relationship from IV.

Let's see... who else could be repurposed into a guildmaster and get some more plot...

I feel like making Lone Wolf the pickpocket into the thief guildmaster is a no-brainer. Once you let him out of jail, it could turn into a whole series of encounters where he tasks you to steal shit, but then at the end he double-crosses you and steals everything from you, and you chase him down to find he's the master of the thieves and this was all a sort of hazing/initiation ritual. Could be fun.

The Black Mage guildmaster should be a cameo by Matoya from the original FF. I have an extremely obtuse reason for wanting this—before FFV's initial release in Japan, there was a promotional album called "Final Fantasy 5+1" and it contained 5 preview tracks from the OST, plus one bonus track, which was an arrangement of Matoya's theme in the FFV sound font and I just really like it and think it would be fun to include her as an homage.

I never thought this, but I also never imagined her settling down with anyone. I feel like she would be so dedicated to the people of her kingdom that she wouldn't have room in her life for romance, and that, conversely, nobody could possibly hope to keep up with her.

A plot point that isn't mentioned in the game is that Lenna's dad did not succeed to the throne by birthright, but rather by being appointed by the last king (the same one who got them into the war that killed the wind drakes) who had no family himself. The old king regretted his role in the war, and chose Lenna's dad because he believed he would lead the kingdom away from needless blood-spilling in the future.

The point is that the story already exists and you can play it at anytime. The changes you mention adding would be changing the story, which again, could be served in just creating something new that draws similar themes and attitudes from FFV. I also love FFV, but why remake something that isn't broken? Why not ask for a sequel instead of you want to see more of the world, or a prequel about Galuf and the Dawn Warriors? FFV is also an RPG that has fun replay value, making a new version even less necessary.

I would also argue that remaking something can affect the original, especially in games. Think of the endless sequels and expanding on things for other media

Remakes/remasters tend to make the originals less accessible (outside of pirating). While FFV and the theoretical remake would be very different games, even more people will overlook the original because the remake is newer, even with extensive changes. The autists on here made valid points about how a lot of care and details were lost with the Demons' souls remake, which will likely be available on the ps6 and future consoles while the original rots on the ps3. If you love FFV, why would you want another version that would help bury the original. FFVII remakes identity as a weird sequel helps preserve the identity of the original, even if the changes are gay and annoying and I find the "compilation of FFVII" to be pretty unnecessary as a whole.

Feeling of wanting more is a good thing, it shows how great the work is. For example, the Gormenghast Trilogy are my favorite books of all time, and I would love nothing more than the 4th book to have been been properly finished and an equally great part of the story. Instead, it is an ugly lump alongside a masterpiece. Hoping to capture the same lightning in a bottle is expecting a new team to capture the same magic that someone else had already made, and the team is beholden to someone else's ideas instead of their own, either having them work on things they are not passionate about or changing the things you are passionate about.

If you let a remake or supplementary material affect how you engage with the original, that's on you. And it's okay to remake a "perfect" game—sometimes a remake is just a celebration of something awesome for the sake of introducing it to a new audience, or just giving old fans something exciting.
>Remakes/remasters tend to make the originals less accessible (outside of pirating).
Oh yeah, totally. Just like how it's impossible to play FFVII anywhere, since the remake happened. Oh, wait...
>While FFV and the theoretical remake would be very different games, even more people will overlook the original because the remake is newer, even with extensive changes.
Even if this were true, why should I care? It's already impossible for me to find people who love and engage with the original as much as I do, especially in a post-irony world where caring about things is "cringe". If anything, the remake would generate new discussion and maybe even create new fans that will want to go back and see what I love so much about the original. Then we can talk about that, too.
>FFV is also an RPG that has fun replay value, making a new version even less necessary.
I've played it 12 times, many fiestas, every official and unofficial translation. I'm ready for a remake.

I want a remake because I unironically want obsessive rambling fanfiction from socially-isolated Japanese developers to be injected into the game with top notch graphics, a fully orchestral OST with tons of new compositions, and loads of pointless NPC chatter. I want that fucking level of shameless passion, and it doesn't exist among fans anymore because people are getting too dumb to appreciate things without keys being jingled in front of them. Most of the discussion you get about FF5 ends at, "Hurrrr, job system was good". Yawn. It's time for the FF5 keys to be jingled

>I think they'd remake 6 before they remade 5. they'd remake 9 and 10 before they remade 5 for that matter.
I don't really mind what they remake first, but if the 9 remake rumors are true, I feel like the smart thing would be for them to make a new game engine that's a modern revamp of the ATB while still being entirely turn-based. Then, with minor tweaks, that same engine could basically be used to remake any previous game they wanted.
>Though they could just do 3D remakes of the rest of the 2D games like they did for 3 and 4 on the DS
Only the DS isn't around anymore, so the remakes would just be full 3D on a console like Switch or PS5. Which is exactly the hypothetical we're already discussing in this thread.

Nah they are Bartz only.
Now that I think of it the biggest danger is they make Faris trans or rewrite her character because being a tomboy is le hecking problematic.
I remember watching some cool and indepth documentary series about FF but when he got to 5 he goes out of his way to imply Faris is trans coded and that interpretation was le hecking valid.
She could get raped hard in remake.

You mean like, if Exdeath can possess anyone, why didn't he possess Galuf? Why use Cid's crystal amplification? How did Exdeath even know the crystals could be shattered in this way? Has this happened before?

These are the exact same questions anyone looking to remake FF8 would ask. Why possess Rinoa? How did they know she'd go to space? How did Edea not realize she wasn't a sorceress anymore, but Rinoa instinctively knew she was a sorceress.
It's a small narrative bandage. But going on 30 years, people deserve a large episode.

World of Final Fantasy has a lot of potential subtext to read into when you look at the character match ups, and how closely related their scenarios are to their original games.

A side plot of WoFF is that the Bahamutian Army is kidnapping summoners. These end up being Yuna, Eiko, Terra, and Rydia. But Faris was possibly a secret summoner as well, since she has Syldra.
In this continuity she might also be Eiko's sister, instead of Garnet. And her pirate crew is made up of moogles.

The real birth name of Garnet and Faris are both "Serah" (spelling varies). Lightning also fits into that older sister archetype using a false name. Lightning's little sister, Serah, does make an appearance in the DLC.

When they save the summoners from the Ultima Gate, Tidus saves Yuna, Lightning saves Eiko, Cloud saves Terra, and Squall saves Rydia.

However, I think they were making Quistis out to be a Lenna stand-in.
They might also be hinting at Quistis' untold backstory before she joined the Garden. That is, she should could have been adopted by Trabia royals to replace a dead or missing princess. In the same way Garnet was in FF9

Faris wasn't originally conceptualized as a pirate, but a gambler. This inspired Setzer's character in the next game. As well as the "Corsair" job class in FF11.
It possibly influenced FF8's Ellone being raised on the White SeeD ship. And FF13 Sazh's DLC episode in Serendipity.

Maybe even Fargo in Chrono Cross, who is a pirate captain in one world, but runs a luxury casino cruise ship in another.

But maybe I'm overstating the natural pairing of pirates and gambling.

Well, submarines exist. Also, one of the scrapped jobs from early in development was a "Diver" job that would enhance combat around or in water. Would be a good chance to add it back. Or the Mime guild could be underwater, since Gogo already is, and he clearly doesn't need to breathe. It could be an entire underwater guild of Gogos—an entire underwater CITY of Gogos, who all mimic each other and then use portals to spread their mimicry to other dimensions.

Maybe one of the quests for the Mime guild is just to defeat various Gogos in combat, but they've all been to different Final Fantasy worlds, so each one mimics the protagonists of a different game.

I mean, at least try using your imagination first.

I literally just wanna see them interacting more and being there for each other. Enuo. (That's the letters N.O.)
Enuo was an ancient mage that gave up their immortality to gain control of the void. Who does that? Why does that?
The Void, 無 (Mu, lit: "Nothing") is actually something. Not confusing at all.

With his newly found mortality, Enuo was defeated by the 12 legendary weapons. But the void™ was still a problem, so they banished it to the interdimensional rift. And then, to seal the rift, they split the crystals along with Planet R (That's it's name. The letter R), trapping the interdimensional rift inside this OTHER interdimensional rift.
Not confusing at all.

After defeating the final boss you get a monologue explaining that the void was actually a primordial substance that the universe was created from, the prime materia. Also called the "mother of light".
And yet, after defeating Enuo, there was some inexplicable need to banish it to the rift. This stuff that has always been around. Didn't bother the Ronka Civilization any, they died from a plague. (Does the R stand for Ronka?)

Oh, the spell "Banish" still works. Also known as "Dezone" or "X-zone".
(Like the letters D and X). You banish enemies "...to the rift!" Even while you're in the rift. Not confusing at all.

So you have this void stuff, a cosmic eraser, floating betwix and between planet R's displacement field. It's an ideal prison. An oubliette. Garbage disposal. This perhaps explains why the rift fiends were in the rift in the first place. But they didn't toss evil spirits into the void. They sealed them into a tree. Over time that tree came to life. And it called itself "Ekusudesu" which could be "Exodus" but the official translation is "Exdeath".
(Why not the letters X and D ?)
Apparently this tree guy can potentially control the void. But he has to get to it first. For 500 years The Turtle Sage Ghido kept him sealed. But he slipped to the Bartz world, where the Dawn Warriors sealed him, again, with the crystals. Until the crystals shattered.

I find it funny how FFV is probably one of the most relevant FFs while also being the most underrated.
>Best use of the class system which is something future games like BD would build upon.
>Introduces the recurring character of Gilgamesh.
>Battle in the Big Bridge probably being the most remixed and known FF song.
>It introduces for the first time optional super strong bosses which would become not only FF but JRPGS staples.
>One of said bosses, Shynriu, becomes one of the strongest lore beings in the FF universe (Even if allegedly not the same).
>The other becoming one of the most used optional super bosses in the series.
>Likewise the Void becomes a relevant concept for the crossover FF entries.
Like genuinely I dont think any other FF can boast to have influenced the series as much short of FF1 kickstarting the series or 2 establishing heavy narrative game design that would influence the most renowned FFs.
FFV just there silently contributing.

I feel like one of the reasons it's underrated is simply how late it took to come to the west (ditto III, which introduced some concepts that V would build on like the first overhaul of the job system and the Void as a concept), along with the west favoring story-heavy RPGs.

>greatest FF game of all time = V
I think the remake of FFV should first focus on the story. The story sucks balls and refuses to end time after time. Maybe we just steal the story from Chrono Cross which was really good despite the rest of that game. We are off to a good start now.

Moving onto the characters. They suck too. But this is a remake, so instead of making a new characters, let's just borrow them from successful ones. VI or VII are obvious ones, but maybe IV would be best be cause the game hasn't been overvalued by /vrpg/tards. Cecil is a good drop in for Bartz as he's kinda better in everyway. Kain can play Ferris, so we won't have to keep thinking she will never be a man. The rest writes itself I'm sure.

Now we are getting somewhere. What to do about all those classes. Half of the classes either suck, or are really good in a very niche role. Even the good classes take forever to level rendering them as useless as the other classes. Let's just steal the class system from FF tactics which basically took FFV's system and did it right.

Now this remake is starting to have potential. Fixed it for you.

FFV was really the first one to be a huge hit in Japan, and it's extremely popular among older fans of the series, there. I read some interviews with a bunch of devs working at Square several years ago, and they were all asked what their favorite FF was, and like half of them said 5. If you play the games in order from release, it's not hard to see why—5 is just lightyears ahead of everything that came before it. It was a very revolutionary title, not just for FF, but for console RPGs as a whole.

It didn't have the same kind of opportunity in the west—there was no official release until the godawful PS1 port, and most of the potential audience had been lured to the series by FFVI and VII's more intense, cinematic presentation and overt drama. FFV's drama and themes are much more organic and aren't rubbed in your face with flashy cutscenes. This is why, even when it is praised in the west, it's mostly just the job system, whereas Japanese fans are just as liable to tell you how emotional they found the game.

The game can be beaten with a solo character of any job class. Some require more grinding/creativity/persistence than others, but it's possible. White mage takes a while because until you get Holy you have no real means of damage, so many bosses require you to just tank, heal and plink away at them, or even run them out of MP first, which can take literal hours.

The whole point of the four job fiesta is indulging the fact that you can beat the game with any combination of jobs. Or no jobs at all.

I just did my first and got blue mage, red mage, bard, and dragoon. I had expected to struggle more than a regular run, but blue mage is just insanely powerful, cheeses tons of bosses to death, and gives you the best healing outside of a white mage, while Bard trivializes random encounters by being able to stop/confuse most enemies. Red mage carried the early game with reliable elemental damage, healing, and utility, while Dragoon offered some much needed physical clout. Lance was legitimately useful as a secondary on my blue mage to do damage, heal, and replenish MP.

It was fun as hell, but I really wanted more of a challenge—I even wasted Omega and Shinryu without too much trouble (Bard and Dragoon are key for that). I'd love to do another run and just re-roll if I happen to get Blue Mage again.

SNES version with b-button run, L/R menu switching, and the GBA script patched in. If you really want the extra content of the GBA version you could just play that, but the OG SNES sound quality is a must for many.

>>3794810
The sprites are all tragically bad redraws for no reason, and everything is the wrong color because they based it all on GBA assets where brightness and color were cranked up to offset the original dim GBA screen without a backlight. If you're okay with compromised visuals and patching things, you might as well just play GBA, patch in the SNES sound, and at least have access to the extra content for your troubles.

The music is okay. Some tracks are fine, but others completely miss what Uematsu was going for. FF music always gets re-arranged as orchestral when Uematsu was a prog rock composer, more than anything else.

It's weird that you'd ask all these questions when the answers are in the game.
>You mean like, if Exdeath can possess anyone, why didn't he possess Galuf?
Exdeath posesssed the people who would most effectively be able to shatter the crystals. And he was successful every time. The ends justify the means.
Why use Cid's crystal amplification? How did Exdeath even know the crystals could be shattered in this way? Has this happened before?
Exdeath was sealed by the power of the crystals and that was weakening due to the stress of the amplifiers, so he simply took advantage of that. He didn't need an instruction manual dropped in his lap to take advantage of something that was literally happening directly to his own prison.

It's weird how all of your chittering displays an utter incapability to string even two thoughts together at a time. It's like every sentence in your brain exists in a vacuum. I wish you tried harder.

That other anon is being rude, but it becomes pretty apparent if you just look at the game. We don't know the "rules" of his possession ability, so we can assume he simply posessed people who were physically close to and/or most capable of ensuring the crystals shattering.

His first choice was his best—King Tycoon had direct dominion over the Wind Crystal, but he also had something else that would be key. More on that later.

He hilariously did not choose King Walse to ensure the shattering of the Water Crystal, but instead a random, peaceful, elephant-like creature, "Garula". Exdeath simply chose to posess this nearby creature when another meteorite landed and the soldier from Bal who was inside attempted to shut off the amplification device. You might ask, "Why not possess the guards, or the soldier from Bal himself?" and the answer is in the outcome—the Garula was incredibly strong and got the job done. The soldier from Bal was killed, along with many troops from Walse.

The Fire Crystal was under the control of Queen Karnak, who was possessed by Exdeath. The Queen also had access to the fire powered ship, which drew directly from the fire crystal, and nobody was going to tell her "no", so she was the obvious choice.

The final Crystal, of Earth, was not readily accessible, so this is where his first choice played a role—the King of Tycoon had access to the last Wind Drake in the world, so he could easily fly to where the crystal was located. Possessing anyone else simply would have been making his job harder. Galuf and co were ultimately able to follow the king there, but that wasn't a given. The king was still the wise choice.

Ultimately, there's no rationale to question Exdeath's choice in possession victims because all of them succeeded. It's not like there are any unaddressed plot holes here, and the more you think about each choice, the more sense they make.

This is what I mean about FF8 schizo. He asks questions that have obvious answers if you stop to think for two seconds. He's just blindly questioning a villain's actions because he's seen enough youtube video essays to think that makes him smart. The entire second part of the equation, (having an actual plot hole that demands questioning) didn't even enter his mind. That's why he's just a schizo.

No, but in the same scene, in the GBA translation, Ghido comments that he "hasn't sat around for 500 years munching pizza", which was a ninja turtles reference.

I know people like to clutch pearls over pop culture references in JRPGs, but I love them. FF5 Advance did a particularly good job, as pretty much all of the references were to things that were popular or well-known in 2006 as they would have been in 1992 (Simpsons, Ninja Turtles, Reading Rainbow, etc)

No because that doesn't make sense. It only would have been a reference if he had turned into a shredder to attack a turtle.

>Are there other combos that work?
levelling monk to level 2, changing jobs to mages and assigning barehand as your secondary ability breaks early game.
you basically end up being able to level your mages magic, not need to buy any weapons and hit like a fucking truck either with your bare hands since your physical attacks are nearly as strong as a monk and you also have black / white / time magic available.
i always pictured the monk guys out of berserk whenever i use the mage/monk combo.

>The music is okay. Some tracks are fine, but others completely miss what Uematsu was going for. FF music always gets re-arranged as orchestral when Uematsu was a prog rock composer, more than anything else.
battle on the big bridge is the highlight of this in V.
it has exactly what you are talking about with synths being the main driver behind it in the background and it sounds great.
I to wish they would've embraced this more than just the pure orchestral sound most the songs go for in the remaster.

Archaeoavis switches through multiple forms with different weaknesses. You can beat him with any party. No idea what you think the "one skill" is that can damage him, but it's been proven you can beat this entire game with any combination of jobs. Or even just any single job. Your problem is not that you didn't have the right skill; it's that you didn't even try. And even if you DID need to grind, one of the best places to grind in the first part of the game is around the final save point in that very dungeon.

People like you are why games need to hold everyone's hand now.

I dont even remember any enemy but super bosses that require specific stuff.
Meanwhile I remember the boss of Strago Tower in FF6 that requires to cast the auto revive spell or you get killed when you beat the boss.
