a) discovering cheating was possible, fucking around and finding out (getting banned) in AQ
b) being torn between two of the houses in MQ because one had an edgy assassin mech and the other one was fucking mecha wizards and at the time both were the coolest shit I could think of

Maybe it is nostalgia for the times I beat chaos lords with randoms, but it's also because otherwise the game feels like a single-player cookie grinder without the unpredictability and player anecdotes. I simply will not do nulgath type grinds or ultra bosses. I log on solely to do story quests, farm weekly events and play dress up.

How are people doing so much damage when farming bosses? Some people outright instakill the bosses, and at times I feel like I'm doing less damage than a level 90.
My gear is:
>+51% weapon forge +6, smite
>head anima +6, clairvoyance
>everything else normal forge +6 enchants
>VHL class
My 2/3/4/5 skills do 9k/9k/5k/30-50k damage (if that means anything).
I try to use consumes like the potent battle elixir/felicitous philtre/power tonic/potion of speed/etc. but they don't really make much of a difference.

Also I get instakilled by a lot of bosses (like the hydra challenge or archfiend dragonlord). I know the clairvoyance helm makes you very squishy, but even if I take it off and switch to a tankier class (like AP), I still get instakilled and just can't solo the fight at all.

Creature 10 Horns, they should still be available. And Grand Necromancer's Tail from an anniversary a few years back, there's probably a collection chest by now I guess.

Legion Revenant (without the IoDA tag even) is already the most popular choice for those tokens, AI has an AC tag on the wiki too although I have no idea if it is too new to grab that way yet. AI actually looks pretty fun to farm all the merging materials and the claws/wings from the shop are cool though, so I probably won't do that one.

It's probably the class with the worst "pure" grind, but it doesn't require ultra bosses. I'd say it's slightly more time consuming than AI or VHL.
Also, the new Lich class requires Rank 10 Grimskull Trolling, so get to those dailies.

I don't think it looks hard, but it's the bad type of grind. For Archmage, EDoT, AI, etc you sort of go on an adventure for the non-ultraboss methods. You see storylines and items you missed, go to different places, sometimes change classes to counter things like soloing Icewing, go down memory lane, etc. For Nulgath, Darkon, Legion, Necrotic Sword type grinds it's just a grinding and nothing more. I don't mind in small bursts like farming for a merge shop, but I never do those long types of grinds.

LR is just really, really mind numbing. You can at least make things easier since we have more ways to get Legion Tokens nowadays, but it's still quite boring. I'd recommend it, though. LR is probably the single most versatile class in the game.

The problem is that I have both been playing this specific account since like 3 years after the game released and have money to burn, so my bank is chock full of stuff I've gathered over the years including like half of the most popular rare items people use the items for. There isn't anything of sentimental value for me left to get, only items I might want for cosmetics or skipping grinds. Not complaining, I'm just saying.

I think NSoD is the most valuable 51% weapon to get since it is used to make a bunch of other 51% weapons. IIRC, the IoDA version cannot be used.

Nah, you'll have to stand around in shadowrealm for a while but it's immensely faster than doing it the regular way. And then you just go around a couple of maps for the remaining items like necronomicons afaik. I don't know how much faster it is when you're a member, but I remember getting like 80% of the required void auras manually doing the non-member quest before finally the x years played tokens were added to the game. So I used them to get SDKA and an old rare armor that I used to have on a private server before even knowing there was a real AQW - like I said, sentimental value.

Give me something to grind for that isn't locked behind weekly or daily a quests. I need something to do.

The Anglers in the Grimgaol are just obnoxious to fight. I swear, the Emperor one will just randomly one shot me even when my HP is well above half, and I'm using a Penitence cape!

I just did my first Grimgaol run, and it was brutal.
The anglers weren't too bad - I just spammed heal on VHL and had an emergency pot on my hotbar just incase (apparently you can do it wit DoT too).
The final boss was horrible though. The only class I could survive the fight on was LoO, so I sat there spamming abilities for 6 mins.

The company was going through a phase where they were willing to sell ridiculously broken pay-to-win stuff in all of their games. Doomknight these days is actually not even the original Doomknight. The original was so ridiculously outrageously broken in such a way that it trivialized literally the entire game by nature. So the developers were cornered into nerfing it if they wanted the game to have any interactivity at all with a large part of the playerbase. But obviously people who bought it also didn't want to readily accept a nerf to the P2W class they bought. So newer people who've bought Doomknight get a less broken one, and older players who bought Doomknight are grandfathered into the outrageously good Doomknight but also get the less broken one.

Dragonfable today has its monthly challenge battles as a core piece of its design philosophy now and I think they do a really good job at pushing the limits of the battle system with that. But anyway as part of that, the old Doomknight is banned from the challenges. New Doomknight is still really good to be clear. But it has some flaws. It's maybe the best class in the game but still doesn't do every challenge very well. Recently I feel like Pirate's been destroying all the challenges the easiest. But it depends what style of fight the devs feel like putting out, and the playerbase is pretty temperamental, and the devs are receptive to the playerbase for good or for bad

I haven't really played an artix game since Twilly looked like this. Can someone pill me on which ones are worthwhile and how best to approach them?

I was mostly turned off by the paid aspects and the lack of easy storage options in AQ. I never really got into the other games.

I'm thinking of starting fresh, unless there is a benefit to using my ancient original account (which is not in a particularly good state)

It's the lore of the entire AQW multiverse that the hero is kind of imagining it up, and that's why mechs and shit can exist in the same universe as medieval knights and magic? I thought that's why Malgor is trying to be the bad guy so the hero won't inadvertently become the villain of his own story.

I would say only really Dragonfable and AQW are truly worth playing personally. Mechquest, AQ/Warpforce (forever unfinished) and even Epic Duel are neat however. You play Dragonfable for the storyline and more in-depth battles, AQW for most everything else. DF is much more F2P friendly, but you can do most things in AQW without membership.

As for tips the only things I can say that isn't covered by the guides near the top is that you shouldn't spend your free AC/DC coins on random junk. You get free coins through various means and anniversaries, so save them up for something that unlocks content or features. Like buying the Legion armour that unlocks his entire faction in AQW perhaps.
Also don't bother grinding exp, since you'll get a ton from just doing the storylines and farming for items as you go.

Nah, as far as I recall AQW was created when Galanoth slayed the Eternal Dragon of Time in Adventure Quest Classic. This caused a massive shattering of timestreams or whatever they're called and the dragon's power going out of control inadvertently fused a bunch together into a new universe including Mechquest and Dragonfable. The old ones like Mechquest and Dragonfable still exist in mostly the same separate timeline alongside each other iirc. The EDoT did manifest the AQW world and their body, but it's not like Haruhi Suzumiya where they subconsciously shape it after the fact.

The new world doesn't have a proper Hero, because the dragon subconsciously put itself in that role which is probably why the Evil side is so overpowered now. Malgor was mostly doing it because he's a good boy, not really for cosmic or karmic reasons.

You can get one from there, but you also get one + a bonus one everytime you buy a big membership/AC package. Technically you can just paypig your way through them, only downside is that you might still need those quests done anyway for further progression.

The Nation materials are the worst part about Sin of the Abyss.
NSoD used to not have the daily quest associated with it. You had to power through with the regular Void Aura quest.

The benifit of NSoD is that it leads to other 51% weapons. Dual Necrotic Swords of Doom, Burning Sword of Doom, Necrotic Blade of Doom, Necrotic Blade of the Underworld, Necrotic Sword of the Abyss, Hollowborn Sword of Doom all req. you to have it. But it is hardest to farm for F2P folks.

We do have a lot more choices: Higure, Entwined Eclipse, ShadowFlame Blade, Sin of the Abyss, Exalted Apotheosis, Star Light of the Empyrean + some OG item ones.

Anyway I think for F2P easiest one is new Gramiel one, if you are leveled enough to do that ultra. Since other items for it are rly easy to get.

Like with most live service games, powercreep. There's also the "early game unit" curse where they made something before knowing what the "meta" would be. Most of the "can't solo" classes just lack some form of sustain or damage negation. Dauntless is usually able to "fix" these classes, though your DPS will still be tiny.
Some classes are also intentionally low tier, i.e. Rustbucket or Barber.

Other picks for solo would be: 1. Legion DoomKnight as the only class with 10-second decay, I think. 2. LightCaster for sentimental reasons, since I used it back when it came out while not bothering to farm harder classes for a while.

As for support, I think Frostval Barbarian is underrated. When it was used I don't think I ever saw my or anyone's else mana drop EVER. I know SC also has mana help, but it's in form of mana regain not reducing costs. Also the HoT and Crit buffs of this class are much better comapred to SC.
It does have two big issues: no Haste for allies, no damage reduction for allies, which makes it worse choice for a lot of ultras

Ok the reason you didn't get anything is the following: when item on the wiki has Rare green tag on top of the page you can't get it anymore.

Rare means it's no longer available once they remove it (although you can typically use the item of donated awesomeness to get them still), Seasonal means it'll be available only during specific events like Christmas. And Unassigned/Unknown means they haven't decided whether it's rare or not yet. Those are the only tags that matter, everything else is just flavour for describing how hard it is to get or telling you that it's a paypig class from buying something irl with Heromart.

Yeah, they're basically just rares tied to events. There's lots of variety in normal tags too like Weird, Junk, Epic, Awesome, Legendary, etc but they just mean the same thing. It's all kind of arbitrary, but it used to confuse me all the time back then because Rarity is the same as something being Rare in normal English. I missed getting and sold a bunch of items because of that misinterpretation, including robo chassis and some Nulgath vs Dage war items.

I hope they update the UI so I can tell what's happening with buff and debuffs better. Once you reach the 70% mark it's easy to not notice that your polarity is reversed even though you've got the yellow circle for like 3-4 seconds because it ramps up so much and that you can't miss a heal or buff/debuff. It's hard to tell when you're actually weakened enough die in general, not to mention it being a bit unclear what your own class or room members are doing. Pretty frustrating to die when she's got like 100k left.

You can try associating the item itself with the enhancement effect so you can zoom through your inventory mentally speaking IE enchant the shield or armoured weapon/capes with the defensive enchantments, EDoT enchantments placed on Eternal Dragon themed gear, Legion Revenant enhancements go on Legion equipment only, etc. Or failing that, simplify all your builds. Have only the most fun classes saved + 1 permanent slot for your absolute best current DPS, best Support build and best Tank/Taunt/survival build. You only need the most used stuff saved, the rest you can change into when you're bored.

It's the best you can do, because let me tell you it doesn't get better even with 480 inventory slots and it gets a hundred times worse when you add in all the items you need to gather for quests. I definitely would love more outfit slots so I can actually save all my outfits, colour schemes, alternative versions, etc.

that's not true. nightbane dodges a lot, especially in blood frenzy, and shaman completely negates the crit and dodge of nightbane's blood frenzy. that's why i was confused - because someone was telling me not to use shaman on nightbane specifically, when i'd argue it's one of the best classes to use for that boss.

Yeah, that's a bit lame, but I still kind of dig it.

I did some more research and it turns out I'd need 7.5k-8.5k void auras for NSoD... That's 5 months of dailies (not including gifting Gravelyn - not sure how much you get from her per day), or approx. 300+ hours of retrieving void auras (-16 hours for every 2x void auras day, assuming I grind for 8 hours on those days).

I really wanted it, since it has a lot of cool appearances and half of that 51% weapons in the game are derivced from it, but getting NSoD as F2P really feels hopeless.
Unless there are other ways of getting void auras that I'm missing?

As someone who did it without dailies, I think it took me ~6 months to fully get the NSoD. I'd highly recommend saving your energy for VA boost days so you don't burn yourself out.

All the earlier farms and ones similar to them like Darkon stuff are dreadful because they're just that, farming the same items until you have a truckload. The new shopping list approach isn't perfect either, but it at least has you going to different places and fighting different things. Personally I never farm stuff from places like Nulgath or Legion because of that (also because their items are mostly the same aesthetic).

It's not so much a matter of difficulty or even time spent, but the interactions. Most of the bosses in farms like Eternal Dragon of Time are easy too, but they do require or at least provide incentives to change up how you play (at least if you're not already at basically endgame) even if that's only something minor like using a 100% dodge class to fight the Griffon boss. Compared to something like Darkon Bananas or farming Escherion for Nulgath where there's absolutely zero thought whatsoever because the enemy dies in one hit, you're basically just waiting at that point and might as well bot it for the same experience. That being said, it's all kind of arbitrary grinding in the end I guess.

Never finished the first orb saga in Dragonfable, but it's pretty fun going back with a dragon amulet. I feel like there's always at least 5 extra regular enemies in every mission than there should be however.
How are you supposed to get relevant equipment for your level in this? Seems like item drops are mostly random and/or useless and shop items cost an arm.
I know I can wear whatever helms or weapons I want visually, but is there any way I can still wear my mage robes visually while using other class skills like Necro too?

Not really. AQW and AQ3D have good numbers for what they are, but nothing amazing. They're mostly games that survive on a small but consistent and dedicated fanbase, that's probably not going to change because the Mobile/Steam port isn't ever happening at this point.

You lose out on your dragon pet who is extremely good + I'm pretty sure story relevant Dragon vs Titan combat (or at least all of the dragon skills). Awe blast seems more like a bad thing to have with that class, the buff is meh (especially in party) and you consume it from the enemy.

Check aqw hub website, a lot of info there.
You should have access to High Seas commander, which is nice dodge solo class. Make sure to get Awe enchantments asap too.
If you are willing to farm reputation classes, you should check Shaman (arcangrove), and Master ranger (Sandsea).
If you are willing to farm and ask for help on some harder bosses or level up, look into Lord of order and Arch Paladin.

Oh and don't waste Adventure coins on classes. The only ones that are ok to use ACs on are the Chrono classes (6k ACs) and Light caster (which is used on like 1.5 ultras). Joining legion is good too (which is important for endgame)

It's the burden we all bear, even as a paypig I'm still torn on changing it.

Anyway you start with Oracle for free which is generally better than the starting classes. Dragonslayer used to be an easy to get solo class for beginners too iirc, Pyromancer > Blaze Binder upgrade is a good class that unlocks stuff later too. And if you don't mind obtaining things out of order Blood Sorceress is technically a mistake class but it only requires you to reach a level 50 boss and farm a drop from them, so you can just ask a high level player to transport you to Groglurk and kill it for you.

Guardian is a pseudo-Chrono in groups since the nuke "rifts" scales with number of players
It's a glass cannon though, especially solo with -60~85% damage resistance and no dodge
Best enhancements are Ravenous/Vim/Avarice, switch to Vainglory if buffed or potting
Spiral Carve has similar solo DPS, but it's less consistent and has even worse sustain
Awe Blast or Spiral Carve is generally better than Elysium or Valiance outside a few niches

Because SC's heal is a hybrid HoT, so crit damage is useless and AP/SP maxes heals
So to maximize healing, it's Valiance/Fighter/Anima/Absolution. Luck for damage, yeah

1. Silent-wanderer will suck becasue of running animation of robe armors.
2. I wouldn't get weapons since they feel like weaker pick compared to armors and chests.
3. There is Black Friday 2024 Collection with Cyber assasin of shadows, but I guess you could hate that type of recolors (same with Cyber DeathHunter)

But I'm Big fan of TLPD 2021 pick, I think I will get this one with my IoDA too, but as I said before the value is huge only if you swap the gear you show up from time to time.

Arcana's Concerto and Awe Blast are usually better. Supports usually want to either boost their own survivability or boost party damage. Mana Vamp is also pretty common since all of the party buffs really increase your HP.
