Dark Elves are just broke as fuck, that's why they live in bugs/mud and eat bugs/mud. Cyrodiil at the peak of the empire had entire magic manufactories that produced several suits of Daedric armor a day. Unfortunately most of them were destroyed by the dominion because Daedric armor doesn't protect against magical nukes.
