Is this the right board for a Kenshi thread?
I just picked it up and I'm enjoying it quit a bit even though I dont really know what I'm doing yet.

The best thing to do is not talk about it or ask for any advice or look up anything. The game becomes completely soulless and empty once you understand it completely, but you can get many hours of enjoyment before that happens.

Hello

Anybody got tips on making managing recruits easier? I'm now at 7 (1 being a bonedog) and it's getting difficult to manage them all.

Make squads and learn the hotkeys and automate their jobs/tasks

Put them in bed if you aren't using them to do menial shit, I think they get hungry slower if they are sleeping?

Is there a way to make the game pause or something when a recruit goes aimless? Or when one is attacked?

I don't think so unless there is a mod, you just have to pay attention

/vg/ is probably your best bet for it though.

Not sure why there are buttmad faggots, but kenshi is a fun game. My first playthrough I did the prison start which was pretty nuts.

easy mode training camp when you know how to play the game yes
when you're learning the game and have no idea what anything does or how to get food consistently, no it's pretty tough

No, but you can save scum as much as you want. Just set the auto-save interval as low as possible.
This is one of those games where you have to manage your expeditions out into the world. You probably won't see your recruits coming back if you send them all at different corners of the world at the same time.
It's also a good idea to separate any expedition group into two groups. That way if one group runs into a fight and losses, you'll have another healthy group close by, ready to swoop in and save the other group.
You will eventually find the limits of the contents of that world and it might be a little depressing once you get there. But that's when the real roleplaying starts since it's when you know what you want to do in that world, rather than just react to it with survival instinct. Death to Okran, death to The Holy Nation, I want everyone in Blister Hill killed by a robot/bug/shek.

You don't even need food while a slave, that's the benefit, so you can just constantly train yourself up by continually failing at everything. Very boring way to play the game.

Quit being a flippant contrarian, anon. He was right. It's only easy for veterans. A new player will try to escape immediately only to be greeted by constant beatings and lost limbs. Once a new player gets out, they will be starving and lost in hostile territory in a game they barely understand only to get recaptured.

Fuck off, tardboy. Beatings are good. You'll be in a territory where you're mostly likely to go right back if you fall outside. Losing a limb is nothing. There is food everywhere in the camp. There's a constant supply of free recruits so losing your starting character is nothing. It's the easy mode start.

It's my favorite RPG, my favorite type of RPGs are sandbox. I agree with the advice of avoiding looking up guides and such. Other important advice includes not save scumming too often because losing fights makes your characters stronger. This game and Underrail are the two games I wish I could delete all prior knowledge from and replay over and over.
