What does that mean? Never saw this before. Do you not actually have a physical copy?

It's like buying a DVD/Bluray for a PC game. The game is not on the card and you get a digital key so you get a digital version of the game on your Switch 2.

Nintendo basically wants to entirely move away from physical games and only have digital tied to your account.

The other reply is needlessly provocative and confusing.

Basically, a game key card is an actual physical cart but with no game data on it. It's solely used for authentication purposes, you will have to download the game digitally AND insert the cart to play it every time. What's the point, you may ask? You can resell it like any other physical cart, share it with your wife's boyfriend and so on.

Many third party Switch 2 games are game key cards because Nintendo is only willing to stamp 64GB carts, and it's just not worth it for most publishers. Persona 3 Reload is only 18GB (PC version with DLC included) so that's very wasteful.

You have to download the game EVERY TIME you want to play it....? So if I take it out to play another game then swap it in I need to download too?

Either way, that's fucking stupid. I don't want to need a fucking Internet connection every time. Piracy AWAY!

You don't need to redownload it as long as you don't delete it, but the downloaded game is tied to the card not your account, which is the main difference between this vs digital.

>I don't want to need a fucking Internet connection every time
You insert the card, download the game, then you can play offline forever.

The previous reply is needlessly provocative and confusing.

it's a digital game but you get a cartridge, you insert it download the game and play it, you no longer need to be online after the initial install of it, you can resell the cartridge when you're done playing
