You did side with the monks didn't you? It's the only logical choice afterall.

I sided with the Church because with the right quests they can work with both the Protectors and the monks just fine. After all they all share a common objective.
It's just the Brotherhood who are retarded.
This was such a great game, very based, but I'd have liked a replacement for the negro companion I killed at the start. I wanted to make an harem team for my mc but the faction based companions ruined it :(

I tend to side with whoever lets me kill the most people and get the most out of my combat skills in games. protectors seemed to allow the highest body counts, church seemed to learn towards peace/diplomacy, brotherhood was somewhere inbetween.

I feel like the ship authority should have had a public timer for how long it would be before they arrived. 12 years left and only to fumble the ball because you couldn't relax a bit is insane and not being able to tell anyone because they wouldn't believe you.

Despite being far from perfect, it's way better than AoD in my opinion. My main issue with it is that despite the somewhat original setting, it feels too much like a Fallout/Wasteland clone where civilization is a decaying husk, everything sucks and everyone's an asshole. Despite being set entirely on a spaceship the main locations feel the same as any shitty run-down Fallout town, except with more rust and steel and less desert. Apparently the sequel will take part on the planet's surface so hopefully they'll be able to flex their creativity and make something that feels less derivative.

Brotherhood because the game's writer obviously hated them and I hated the smug fart sniffing asshole who wrote the game. Also they at least have an idea worth fighting for. The Protectors just want the totalitarian onions state and American Christianity is fucking cringe.

American Christianity is a contradiction in terms. There are no American Christians, only Mammon worshipers who think screaming how much they love Jesus while ignoring every word he ever said means they get to go to heaven.

vince is not really good at writing nuanced characters and factions, they all are just power hungry, cynial machiavellians with optionally also being mentally ill

The only memorable characters for me were the Judge guy because he is silly and Smiles because you do a few memorable, difficult fights with her. I guess the ninja dude was alright too. I think beyond the writing most of the NPCs have the problem of just being questgivers or just being there for you to kill. The player isn't given an opportunity to have memorable experiences involving most of them.

I liked what they did with the setting for the most part. Sure the Pit is a shitty run down town but you really feel the scale of the ship. Up close it's the same neon signs and dingy barfronts but if you zoom out you can see how tiny the place is compared to the giant shipping containers and how civilisation is just a speck inside the massive void of a cargo hold. They achieved that same sense of scale with most of the other areas like the Factory. Where it flopped though was the Habitat. They all looked like normal sci-fi cities that could be on Earth. And the different faction hqs looked really similar except the different colour schemes. Protectors of the Mission gave me massive XCOM 2 vibes which is not a game I ever want to be thinking about. And the recycled Nazi propaganda was just lazy.

There's a certain something to Iron Tower's games that I find intriguing, it's just a shame they can't figure out how to get it across. With CS not doing well, and their last game basically being a last ditch effort, it seems as if they're doomed to be a studio that drowned just offshore.

AOD worked better because it had to cyoa different paths aspects to give it replay value. choosing to be an assassin or merchant is different than between factions you don't care about, much much less people are going to replay for mid game faction specific content compared to if you front loaded all the branching

They couldn't commit to any specific time publicly because the Synod was deliberately slowing down the ship and prolonging the journey to make sure they have a perfect gay thrall society by the time they arrive.

Brotherhood is only second to toasters in their utter cringe but the original mutiny was not only justified but necessary.

The Church are the best option. Both the Brotherhood and the Protectors define themselves by their war. The Church gives the colonists purpose and hope for the future.
Abraham is probably the only real weakness of it.

It's a problem some writers seem to have. I'll resist the urge to go on a long rant where I make wild assumptions about their life and psychological state, extrapolate their thought processes in an incredibly biased and uncharitable way, and generally just insult people who will never read my post, and simply say that it sucks and I wish they stopped.
Even goddamn Warhammer Fantasy that is, 40k just went full retard when they started taking the setting seriously rather than half-joking knew to have genuinely good (or at least normal, not actively malicious) people and the occasional good ending to a story because it helps investment and simply makes sense.
