Have fun, speed them up because I'm pretty sure they're slow.

Digimon World 1 is the only entry I think is worth caring about.

nah it was pretty awful.
>shitty rouge like system and you could only travel a certain number of steps with your beetle
>awful music
>defeats the purpose of digimon with these horrible fusion mechanic once they reach a certain level
>shitty graphics
>Recolors galore
>slow battling
>it's from the time period in which the amount of mega/kyuyokutai digimon

Don't even bother.

Can I play the new Time Traveler game without having played any other Digimon game? Also as somebody who only had some action figures, but never watched the anime and doesn’t know anything about the IP? I was totally into Pokèmon and Digimon alluded me but always looked neat. New game looks it could be decent.

Yes, Digimon doesn't seem to have consistent storyline or lore besides small cameos. Even the Digievolution paths vary from game to game.

Yeah 100%, there are some concepts that might take a second to register but Digimon usually writes its own rules every game/anime/whatever.

so you mean to tell me the digivolution paths, which are already unrevealed on first playthrough, will be complete guesswork again with no way to know what you're getting other than vibes and the sillouette? How am I supposed to minmax under these conditions??

No, he's exaggerating. They do change, but the general framework is consistent. Certain types will always be together on the digivolution tree, some Digimon are always next to each other, etc. After you've played one it's pretty easy to tell which direction to head down to get what you want. Of course most Digimon fans have only played their favourite game despite discussing every one of them.

Every Digimon has a canon digievolution path, but the extra paths can vary from game to game.
