Let's have a Star Ocean thread while waiting for the 3 remake and 5 PC/new console ports.

I just finished 4 the Last Hope, it was shit, I hope it was the worst of the series. The game really needed x2 speed button everywhere, especially during cutscenes, x4 when the loli Lymle was talking.
I'm gonna download 6 now, hopefully it's better than 4.

The Divine Force had an interesting plot with everything involving the Scorpium. I felt like that whole network was a realistic system of what our future could actually resemble in our IRL future. Star Ocean is pretty cool.

Can´t say if it´s the worst since i dropped the series after it but it is certainly inferior to all the previous ones.

Second Evolution Remake was in 2023
Till the End of Time Remake announced in 2026 during the anniversary stream with a 2027 release

I really like how both of the recent remakes brought back the OG release’s Japanese casts to record everything they didn’t get to back then alongside the redone artwork, it’s neat. Hope you enjoy 6 btw, I still haven’t done Laeticia‘s route but I loved the game

It was a lot shorter than I remember it being thanks to being able to effortlessly dodge most encounters. Even Treasure Boxing my way to the Marvel Sword or whatever back in the day wasn't as fast and I tried to play my first remake run "normally". I feel like I spent a quarter of that total playtime fishing.

In a sense yes, I think what made it feel "lacking" how the game was more or less solved at this point, which kind of shortens the experience. Still a great game, very good remake, and ultimately only took me about 35 hours to 100% achievement the game on steam.

I'll probably get 6 too, while it's on sale. But it's like 90GBs. It's going to take forever to download.
