Anyone remembers this odd gem?
Allegedly the intro cinematic alone cost $500,000 (in 1995s money, adjusted for inflation close to $1m).
You don't see such ambition nowadays.

There's Eye of Beholder and first Lands of Lore for actual artwork. Stonekeep and Lands of Lore 2 tried to pioneer new technology, with mixed results. And of the two Stonekeep aged slightly better.

Everybody was doing FMV shit back then Wing Commander was the big one. Interplay and Westwood were chasing trends, Westwood in particular lost all the soul with LoL 2.

Yeah, I really like the game, and I think it still holds up. Really unique atmosphere - simultaneously kind of scary and goofy. Highlights are the Throgg Temple, the Dwarf Town and the Faerie Realm. The game becomes a bit of a slog at the very end when you go to Khuul-Khuum's Tower, but other than that, it's a fun and enjoyable experience.
