Cyberpunk 2077 still is a scam - /vrpg/ (#3806649)

Lifepath
Lifepath
md5: 18760f35f98c728a2e2d6d336090cbf4๐Ÿ”
>be me, recently played it for the first time ever (free copy, so why not)
>gamers: "anon, try it, they finally fix it, now is a good sandbox-RPG"
>choose CORPO lifepath
>walk to a pub, CORPO lifepath is over
>no more luxury, no more corporate GoT
>you become the nomad/streetkid that you wanted to avoid at all cost by choosing CORPO
Wtf is this shit?
>where the whole "now is good and playable"??
>but but dialogue choices have the CORPO option
>still the same endings than with nomad/streetkid
>CDPR: "you will have the deep, immersion and class-system of the TTRPG" (aka, you could be a reporter)
>2025 summer, 4,5 years after its release
>still NO deep, NO immersion and NO class-system
>NO 'rockerboy', NO 'netrunner', NO 'techy', NO 'media', NO 'fixer', NO 'cop' (forget about being MaxTachad), ofc NO 'corpo / nomad'
>you can ONLY be 'solo' (and not even the coolest one, neither you can become part of Militech nor return to Arasaka if you were CORPO)
And despite all that CDPR still sells the game as a "sandbox-RPG" instead of an "action game with Keanu Reeves' cameos, driving and some dialogue options (that don't matter at all)".

Cyberpunk 2077 looks good to me, but this does fit better. All in all it's a mid game at the very best. Playing it felt like a mod for witcher 3. Same with bg3 and dos2.

It's a role playing game with a limited range of expression because cinematic dialogues make supporting all those choices far too expensive. You can't diverge too much from Geralt's personality either. Their initial plans were completely unrealistic given the types of games they make.

The game never got better. There was an anime that got popular and retards decided to pretend that the game was fixed. This caused even more normie retards with shit taste to pick it up, who legitimately now think the game is great.

it's not really bad
- it got great production values
- provides "cinematic experience" cutscenes with up to 45 minutes devoid of any meaningful gameplay
- hundreds of hours of "question mark on a map" activities
overall it's a perfectly fine game for the mass consumer crowd with appropriate expectations

There is one thing I do respect them for though regarding the game
and that is not making Hanako romanceable
despite obviously there being an interest in that

The lifepaths are a remnant from earlier promises. There were originally going to be proper distinct classes.
Doing this was really more of an insult to customers than a compromise.

I've played it recently. It's OK.
Fun but forgettable. Like a Far Cry or a Just Cause game, you have fun for a while but you won't really remember anything iconic about the game two years down.

It's definitely not on the same level of Witcher 3 in terms of quality.

The "fixed" narrative is nonsense. The game is fundamentally the same, and in fact all the additions have either made it more of the same or have been completely superfluous.

It's in fact a "GOOD" game, and it was on release, but one that is nothing like the game they promised.
People merely use the "fixed" narrative as an excuse to have shat on the game in the past, and enjoy it now.

>Rockerboy
Could have totally revamped the Johnny relationship. "Ah, shit, a fanboy/girl..." Imagine geeking out autistically about Samurai lore to Johnny's annoyance. Players could have also had their own band with its own quest, members of said band wondering where the fuck V's been with the relic stuff going on.

>Media
This one would have been fun. Probably encourages or boosts stealth and gives lots of social opportunities. Media V might be all in on the relic in their head as a way to expose Arasaka or something equally manic. Media V might also have some insane connections and probably a lot of extra enemies.

>Cop
Huge miss. There's already so many NCPD locations and that's what Cop V could have been all about. If they gathered enough evidence, teamed up with River, NCPD revolt ending against Araska could have been kino. Maybe some betrayal from a corrupt cop in the mix would have added plenty of drama going into that ending.

>Corporate
I still like Corpo V the most but like OP was saying, the corporate GoT energy was awesome in the prologue. You really only need to put a suit back on in a corpo run to feel like some kind of agent/assassin whose fallen from grace but in the context of the game you really are just street kid larping at that point. Would have been cool to be a corpo psycho 'playing the game.' Imagine betraying Arasaka to join with Militech or some twist like that.

Yeah I played it after the expansion released since everyone was fellating how it was "fixed" and the hype was high thanks to the anime. Still not an RPG. Still didn't fulfill any of their promises. Still not even a cyberpunk aesthetic I find cool. Still a GARBAGE voiced protagonist.
It pisses me off how CDPR got away with putting out this shit in the eyes of the masses.

What do you consider an "action-RPG" if this isn't one? It has a story that you make choices in. Has stats that effect dialogue choices. Had different stats and talents and builds and gear. It's story is on rails, but this is definitely and action RPG.

Something more akin to the first trailer. More focus on cool mecha enemies, taller buildings, drivable flying cars, a lot more missions set high up instead of at ground level, and yes, more night time Blade Runner / GitS movie visuals instead of GTA V in the future. Letting me play a cool enforcer / cop instead of a shitty street punk would go a long way too.

It's an immersive walking sim. Main story is extremely on rails, but actually decent. Side content is trash, but combat is good enough that it's not total waste of time.

Because they're dishonest and know that sounds better in terms of marketing. It's less of an RPG than immersive sims and this board doesn't even consider those to be RPGs.
