I've decided to use a third party ABS and modify it. I haven't decided if it's better to prune down the one that already has all the features or add them to the simpler one that lacks them but probably has less baggage.

Fellas, I managed to figure out how to make a pointer-based event in a custom event in RM2K and... it's sick? I'm sure it's unoptimized, but even still it gets a lot done in surprisingly few lines. It feels pretty rad, I'm excited to see if I can grow quite comfortable with this stuff.

Next you will go through some phases as you start trying to use pointers literally everywhere, including in things/ways you ought not to, but want to because it Really Feels Like You're Devvingβ„’.
From there, you will eventually play with Maniacs 2k3 for a bit and realize that it's the superior maker, and if you ever return to 2k the first thing you'll do is re-implement things like variable array handling (you can fake it with a pointer loop and a few variables to set the parameters) within the default 2k editor.

Although I am too lazy to learn javascript atm, so I cannot explain how to do it, but from what I do know, that the graphics rendering of any object doesn't change till after it is updated; and updating in ti scase mean redrawn; unloaded and put back up. The sprite object contains the rectangle and other settings to draw it in, so this too likely needs to be updated.

I shall note this, and see what I can manage. Thank you thank you.
I thought this would be easily achievable, and I can do this and skip having to make portraits for each character for the menu.
Since I was failing, I went back to doing that. XD And made and added in a new portrait.

All parasites don't think before doing, they just do.
>into thinking its host active
No clue what you said there.
its host 'is' active?
or it 'is' host active? (no clue what that is supposed to mean, but okay)

You know, if you make a typo or use incorrect grammar in rpg maker, you'll get a synthax error or two.

Another issue is, whom is the parasite supposed to be. I mean the first obvious candidate is the anon who posted the greentext about the absolute state, but it could be either anons that could replied to.

It could also be more random, and that you were thinking about parasites in general; maybe due to an RPG Maker project you're coming up with.

See this is why it is complete nonsense, and garbage to use high context and indirectness with English, especially on an internationally accessible channel, speaking to someone who lives no where close to an English speaking country and on a channel in part about game development where exactness is expected. What is this nonsense doing here as such?

You have to know your dumbass bubble language and contextbubble to understand you, and you're the only one who can compile your dumbfuckery. The fact you speak that way here tells me enough about how little time you spend using RPG Maker. I am guessing close to none, because you'll have realized almost immediately that you cannot use High Context at all, and figure out that being indirect is extremely insufficient and time consuming when programming. Try making common events and actually using them, maybe you'll understand what I mean.

I remember going through this crap 10 years ago. It was like tentacles "from the void" were ok. But not from the water because that's an animal. Then anything with animal features was a gray area. And fetishes are bullshit, when it comes to vampires and blood.
And don't get me started on "depictions of children". They're not participants, or even in the same scene, but existing in the work itself triggers people. So you can't have characters live a life. They exist purely for sex...because thats all that's allowed if they're going to exhibit a libdo.

It doesn't even sound like a viable interpretation.
People will stretch voyeurism to mean anything. You'd think it means a peeping tom, or one-sided mirror. That's "non consensual". But then you can have a consensual couple that would be embarrassed to learn, they were too loud and everyone can hear them. Maybe there's an open window. A shadow cast on a tent. They're exposed. That's also, technically, "non-consensual", but also potentially involving children and animals in an "adult situation", if only to use their innocence or ignorance for comedic effect.

The people that harrass payment processors want all forms of porn, nudity and sexualization gone. They want anime to be child friendly only. They will also harass and spam once they see things they simply don't like.
Aside this, these companies are instable... they can change the rules whenever they feel like or block even when they don't. This makes the payment services unreliable.

Just imagine you try to withdraw 500 dollar and you can't, for whatever reason. You call the bank and they say "we're out of money" (not really, they'll say 'there are technical difficulties or something vague')
and then you realize you cannot withdraw money for a week....

How do you think people react to instability on the financial market. Any unpredictability means people sell their stocks. Their own actions ruins their reputation far more than what collective should could do to these companies or any legal institution would fine them for.

They're done.
They have shown they're being arbitrary to the world, people will move away from credit cards with certainty. People want other options, alternatives, etc. Once they're there and easy to access, people will flock there immediately.

At any rate, it's stupid companies like Steam and Itch.io, who sell games, even listen to these clowns. Just abandon them. There are more options now than there were 10 years ago, and the usage of mastercard, paypal, visa etc, has declined. People opt for direct transactions and other things instead.

Hopefully there will be a platform for people to publish games payment processors don't like, such as the Coffin of Andy and LeyLey

Do note that the following rarely happens word to word in reality and is an idealized take:

Roughly, main phases go like that:
Prelude -> Service -> Motions -> Climaxing-> Orgasm -> Aftermath

>Prelude
Hugs, Kisses, Love Talk, Flirting. Skip it in no CG (or at least make it mininal), this phase gets SO bloated with unnecessary sperging if you have no visuals to accompany it and becomes unnecessary with a couple of CGs.

>Service
Acts of sexual stimulation - frech kiss, BJ, roleplay, et c. Can transition into "toy play" phase but it's better to not include it unless the tone of your work is built around it.

>Motions
The act of sex. Assuming the pose, sexual motions, the appropriate sound effects library, the works. The increase of tempo of sexual motions is not needed as it's reserved for climax. Can be transitioned into sudden orgasm, then intermission phase (small talk), then repeating this phase if you NEED to stretch the sex scene but don't abuse it.

>Climax
The reaching of synchronized orgasm by both parties. Basically, the motion phase wrapping up in intensity where both parties increase the tempo of motions and approach orgasm. CAN be branched into "interruption" phase (the loss of climax due to clumsy move, accident, orgasm denial and such) and return to motions phase, but it seems to only work in either dom fetish works or amateur sex depictions.

>Orgasm
Speaks for itself. The finale of the sexual act. Nothing much to tell here as it's the phase describing emotional outburst and free flow of conciseness. Just don't go into metaphors or allegories, even pure interjections look more natural than those.

>Aftermath
Technically not part of the sex scenes but is usually portrayed with softcore depictions of nudity, (or hardcore ryona or guro if you're one of THOSE) even if crucial plot revelations are involved. May seem easily skippable (the west likes to do that a lot until recent years) but that act harms the pace more than it helps it, i think.

Technically, from a end-user LOISENCE (lmao) perspective it's not actually permitted to change the Kadokawa intro graphic; but no one should ever reasonably sue you for changing a .png on a 20 year old software or give a shit that you made your game look more professional.
Regardless of if that concerns you or not, you should look into using "Easy RPG Player" because it's capable of doing the things you want it to, especially the "removal" of the Kadokawa logo and even the support of putting your own logo in the intro (by replacing the EasyRPG logo graphic if it's also annoying to you) It's capable of running rpg2000/2k3 games on multiple platforms.
It's also going to display the correct name on the window top bar, and fix a multitude of other bugs and errors within RPG Maker's programs.

Why do people sell RPG Maker MZ plugins that feature things achievable with like, one or two lines worth of javascript edits, for 12 euroes on itch io?

What you're also buying:
- Being stuck on their terms
- A risk that they may take down your project
- Obfuscation
- Dependency on them for fixing issues with it.

What you could do instead:
... its a one or two line edit. In case you don't know how to work with the plugin system, just edit the dumb files
Ask AI to vibe-code it for you. No you don't need to know code to vibe code javascript

Recently, someone thought it was worth 12 euroes to sell a Character Graphic update script, reacting to equipment equipped. (Allowing you to see what you actually equip)
upon equipping of course.. in other words:
All they did was edit: Scene_Equip.prototype.onItemOk = function()
In fact you can just add a common event there and handle it from within the game.

I don't see how it is worth 12 euroes. People pay for it due to lack of know how, which I find abusive.

I mainly think of it as a hub. Inn, Shops, maybe transportation if it's a port or station.

For dungeon crawlers it's basically Floor 0, right?

For globe trotting JRPGs, they can have narrative importance, like an endangered innocent to motivate characters, but it requires some setting up to communicate exactly what make a place special.

The village of beginning is special because it's home of Mom & Dad or whatever.

A mining town is special in that it's fleeting. Most RPGs don't acknowledge that reality. It's not meant to last generations. They expect to exhaust the resources and relocate someday.

That contrasts with forest towns and Elf folk that, for whatever reason, can't leave the woods. Maybe it's part of their life cycle, or they have a werewolf curse and need a hunting ground.
Deforestation and ecological crises should only happen because of industrialization. On the other hand, you can also point out the forest only exists because of apex predators like wolves. Because they eat the elk and the beavers that would thin and strip the forest.

Boarding the wilderness are farms and vineyards. See: Village of Beginning. They're a little more permanent. But they tend to burn down or get sodomized by orc cock.

Then you have desert towns. These only exist because of trade routes. It's pure civilization. So naturally, slaves, drugs, and sex trafficking are it's dark heart. They don't have anything of value except a system of distribution.

Boarding these are libraries, monasteries, academies, that are like farms but for social order. This could include cults and empires. Touching a different kind a wilderness that are lost or forgotten civilizations that fell because of dysfunctional class and meritocracy, a plague, a dragon, some runaway alchemical experiment.

I don't get what all the crying is about when you have 9999 switches in stock 2k/3 (and can access "practically infinite" switches via variables+external tools to specify them), a practically infinite amount in Maniacs, multiple ways to store and restore switch and variable states if you truly get desperate. Self-Switches and Self-Variables are a meme feature compared to something that's actually useful like calling events by name in a string variable (has this even been implemented yet? I've been avoiding updating to the latest maniacs patch because new major releases are always bug central for a few weeks).

That's fine, but I'm a scatterbrained autist who simultaneously wants the freedom to use any switch I want, and have them cleanly organised so I'm not searching for switches/variables with wild differences in IDs. Self-Switches/Variables stop me from going crazy by letting me put a lot of one-time use clutter into a spot where it can be out of sight, and out of mind. I would even accept a way to auto-reassign all instances of a variable used in a project.

>has this even been implemented yet?
Yes but only for Common Events right now (picrel). They've also added return values for the End Event Processing command (with an arg toggle you can see in picrel too), though it's barely a space saver. Definitely hold back on updating until the Self-Variables get fixed, the latest version randomly crashes with no error handler.

Consider that a reasonably large game like Final Fantasy VI uses

Anonymous No.3817732
>>3817724
I agree, it's legitimately just an issue for me. I've taken way longer than I should when building stuff because I'm an overthinker constantly worrying about the balance between having large gaps between allotted groups of categorised switches(so much scrolling), making gaps between individual switches(ugly) just in case I want to insert something in an earlier part of the list, and whether or not the scope creep will make those sections overlap and fuck up everything(nightmare). Anything that can help me brush off that uncertainty is a great comfort for my deer-in-the-headlights ass.

Wayback machine to the rescue:

https://web.archive.org/web/20210117214659/http://rpgmaker.net/tutorials/2614/

For the sake of not repeating the same mistake rpgmaker net did, i will repeat the information here:

tl;dr Dummy heroes which get given dummy skills, acting as the "on" status for the "self switch"

Instruction:
- Create dummy skills that are named according to where/what they're supposed to be.
- Create a dummy hero that will eventually be used to hold those skills. Make sure this dummy hero never appears anywhere, can not join the party, etc. It's purely a holder for database states, so name it properly as well.
- _IF_ the dummy hero DOES have the skill, then the event code for the chest or locked door or NPC will return a negative answer; "Empty" /"Locked" /"Fuck-off" /etc
- _ELSE_ the dummy hero clearly does not have the skill usable to them, so the event has not been activated yet. So the event is activated and the dummy skill is given to the dummy hero, while the real items are given to the playable character, or the door swings open, or the NPC responds positively.

It is basically pushing clutter elsewhere, but it is still technically cleaner than having 300 switches since you can consolidate as many "switches" as you want into one actor. So you could have 1 actor per 10 chests, and now 100 switches becomes 10 actors and 10 skills.

There are lots of roundabout ways to deal with this stuff, but at the end of the day you're better off following the advice seen in >>3817724 and just using regular switches like you're supposed to, since it is extremely unlikely that you will ever use more than the editor provides. If you ARE somehow doing this, then you have most likely done something wrong and should rethink whatever it is you're trying to make.
I would sooner advise repurposing variables and packing/unpacking them than using a dummy actor to track chests. This is STILL a dumb idea and has real, valid uses elsewhere...
Example:
>Variables in stock RPG Maker 2000 can hold 6 digit places, stock 2k3 can hold 7 digit places
>therefore you can imagine a variable with a value of "1" actually being more akin to "000001" in stock 2k
>through division and modulus you can "unpack" these values to other individual temporary variables/switches upon entering a given map, then through multiplication and addition "pack" them back into a singular variable
But again... I stress that you should just use switches since that is literally what they are there for.

Agreed, using switches itself is just less headache. I still just struggle with knowing where to put them in the switch array though, because I hate the idea of needing to put something 3000 IDs down just to have them in a reliable place where they have breathing room to expand, because what if there's something else that I want to add that could potentially get in the way? What if I want switches to be organised by the order you're supposed to be able to access whatever's tied to the switch? What if I want to add something new in an earlier part and now Switches 1, 2, 3, 4, and 89 are all technically grouped together? It drives a man crazy.

She evolved into an egregore. Succour jam when?
Anonymous No.3820330
>>3820083
It was over a year ago I generated Succour as a ninja. 'Cause we talked about doing a ninja jam then but never did.

I remember discussing anime inspirations from Once Piece, Full-Metal Alchemist, Bleach, and Naruto.

Succour is channeling a lot of Karin vibes from Naruto. Based on her abilities she was meant to be used a certain way. But perhaps because the show progressed and changed direction, bloating with 500 bajillion filler episodes, she fell through the cracks. There's a lot of fan theories that breakdown the lack of character development, and analyzing inconsistent filler moments that were probably trying to salvage abandoned plot threads.

She had healing chakra, as well as this chakra chain technique. In retrospect she was designed as the perfect tool to capture the biju, the tailed beast chakra monsters like the fox inside Naruto. Using herself as bait. She was from the Uzumaki Clan, which was Naruto's Mother's side.
Naruto's father had a teleport ability. I don't remember if it was around the same time or not, but Sigmasuccour was showcasing this teleport movement; I think it was used in False GamerGater.
Anyways, Karin ended up becoming this washout mary-sue with a dead mother, and motivations that don't exactly add-up.

Ninjas are supposed to be elite assassins trained to kill and follow orders from childhood. And their childhood trauma is the source of all the drama.

Whenever you watch a movie about dogs or wolves you know they're going to died. And whenever you watch a movie about ninja BFFs you know their final test will be to kill each other.
A common convention is to pair up a cold-hearted kill with someone with an actual ice powers. Someone trained not to feel, vs someone who can't feel anything because they're numb.

Ironically "ice" is used to sooth pain. And maybe, behind the ninja's vacant expression is a heart that feels everything.
Anonymous No.3820373 >>3820476
In James Cameron's Dark Angel, the main character was a genetically engineered super soldier, she escaped from a training facility as a child by holding her breath under a frozen lake.
Then she grows up in a post-apocalyptic Seattle, in hiding. Searching for others that escaped with her, and run from more that are hunting her down. She hooks up with a hacker/journalist called "Eyes Only"

As a "transgenic", her blood also makes her a universal donor. In the unproduced 3rd season, her DNA was also coded with an antivirus to save the world from a viral pandemic.

I'm not saying everyone is copying everyone else. I think there are strange attractors in language that give stories these familiar forms. It's just the function of irony to twist walking death into a savior.
Anonymous No.3820416 >>3834843
So if you haven't implemented a ninja class into your database, here's the basic ideas.

High resistance to ice and poison. And/Or high vitality and regenerative capabilities.

They generally have high speed and evasion, and run around in light armor. High accuracy is a must for ranged weapons, like throwing stars and darts. Escape skills.
Rpg maker has a Target Rate parameter; ninjas are associated with stealth, but I would give this trait to their equipment as camouflage.

Head Gear:
Headbands, Masks, Cowls, Visors

Body:
Gi, Shroud, Mesh, or netting (for sound reduction)

Feet:
Tabi, sandals, anklets (increasing movement, jumping, or fall damage reduction)

Weapons:
Shuriken (throwing stars), Blowgun, Tekko-Kagi (Claws, backhand hooks), smoke bombs, Kusarigama (chain sickle), Wakizashi (short one-handed blade)
Steel Wire or Boomerangs are uncommon but not unexpected.

Skills might be called
"Martial Arts" or "Ninjutsu". The use of scrolls is inspired by the Chinese Wuxia and onmyōdō aka yin-yang sorcery.
The most common technique in pop culture is cloning or after-image illusion.
As well as a shadow binding technique, paralysing a person by pinning their shadow with kunai.

You can call kunai "throwing weapons" but they're really more of a multi-tool for cutting and climbing. You tie stuff to kunai, like messages and bombs.

Personally, I wouldn't give katanas or straw hats to ninjas because it's more iconic to samurai. And it would be prudent to keep class playstyles distinguished.

Since the jam theme is "darkness", I'm on the fence about swords disguised as umbrellas, walking canes, or boat oars. Deception is more of a ninja art. But there's also a warrior pride in staying armed at all times, as well as putting the "art" in "martial arts."

So what can you do with ninjas? Apply status effects like Poison, Paralysis, or Blind.
Unless you're using MZ, then the "darkness" state is actually window curtains.

Curtains aren't just for decoration, they're meant to darken a room by blocking the light coming through the window.

Without sunlight, the parasitic Sweet Baby plants can't produce photosynthesis, rendering them ineffective narrative consultants.

That's the problem with Ninjas, their playstyle isn't that different from thieves.
Batman is something of a noble ninja. His son Damian (Robin) is the grandson of Ra's al Ghul, leader of the League of Assassins. Sometimes called League of Shadows, sometimes split with a second leader called "sensei" who goes "insane". He loses his objectivity and tries to make assination a performance art. Damian, being raised by assassins, struggles with crime fighting because it would be so easy to solve problems as an executioner.

Ninja characters tend to have some screws loose because of their traumatic backstories. You'd have trust issues too if your friends and family tried to murder you in your sleep.

"Executioner" is another fun name for an assassin with a license to kill.

Sakura was the ninja actor released with MV Trinity.
I always thought she resembled Menou in The Executioner and Her Way of Life. Menou basically had a duty to execute any isekai'd otherworlder before they become too OP and cause problems for the world.

Definitely a sign that the isekai genre was getting out of hand. And the biggest problem with isekai is that the stories never end!

Just think. If you post like this every day, you could reach a 50,000 wordcount in month.

An RPG doesn't even need to be 50,000 words. Rpg Maker projects tend to average around 30,000 words. That's including database names and descriptions.

Final Fantasy 2 is like 14,000 words.
Pokemon Red on the GBA is around 40,000 words, I think that includes Pokedex entries.
You can find and read game transcripts on GameFAQ. Although the count can be skewed depending on how they're formatted. Some like to add descriptive actions. But you might as well include that in your writing process and overshoot your writing goal.

How many NPCs do you suppose most RPGs have? A rough estimate per town.

1.Preference for Solitary Activities
Works entirely alone on projects, rarely forms dev teams.
Avoids joint jam projects unless absolutely necessary.
Builds their own tools, scripts, and art assets rather than collaborating.
Forums and Discord servers are browsed for resources, not socializing.

2. Limited Range of Emotional Expression
Keeps devlogs purely technical, no hype or emotional updates.
Game narrative is cerebral or abstractβ€”rarely sentimental or romantic.
Feedback responses are short, factual, and non-effusive.

3. Little Interest in Close Relationships
Declines offers to co-write, co-map, or share asset creation.
Not interested in befriending other devs; sees interaction as functional, not personal.
Will help others with code fixes but does not maintain ongoing partnerships.

4. Indifference to Praise or Criticism
Feedback threads are read but not emotionally reactive.
Game jam resultsβ€”win or loseβ€”don’t change their development approach.
No marketing push even if a game is well-received; no defensive posting if criticized.

5. Detached from Social Norms of the Community
Doesn’t participate in forum events, meme threads, or β€œintroduce yourself” posts.
Skips networking opportunities, even when it could benefit their project.
Doesn’t follow β€œexpected” narrative or aesthetic trends in RPG Maker culture.

6. Immersion in Inner World
Projects are heavily experimental, personal, or based on idiosyncratic systems.
May have a dozen half-finished prototypes stored away, developed in private.
Development is more about satisfying an internal vision than entertaining an audience.

7. Limited Interest in Sex or Romance (in life and media)
Rarely writes romance subplots in games.
If included, romance is stylized, ironic, or conceptual rather than emotionally deep.
More likely to focus on worldbuilding, mechanics, or philosophical themes.

ChatGPT said:
Alrightβ€”if we flip schizoid traits to their opposites, you’re essentially looking at a developer who thrives on social energy, community engagement, and emotional expression. In RPG Maker culture, that might look like this:

1. Preference for Social & Collaborative Work
Regularly joins game jams, especially team-based ones.
Maintains ongoing collaborations with writers, artists, and composers.
Builds games in publicβ€”streams progress, shares behind-the-scenes chatter.

2. High Emotional Expression
Devlogs are full of exclamation marks, emojis, and personal anecdotes.
Game stories are heavy on romance, friendship, and dramatic tension.
Publicly celebrates milestones and reacts strongly to setbacks.

3. Actively Seeks Close Relationships
Treats other RPG Maker devs as friends first, collaborators second.
Keeps long-term Discord group chats running with daily banter.
Pings specific people for feedback rather than making general posts.

4. Very Sensitive to Praise or Criticism
Positive reviews are quoted and shared across social media.
Harsh feedback can cause public defensiveness or major design shifts.
Actively seeks validation and encouragement to keep momentum going.

5. Strong Adherence to Community Norms
Participates in every forum event, seasonal contest, and β€œpost your map” thread.
Uses popular plugin trends and follows community aesthetic conventions.
Keeps up withβ€”and referencesβ€”current RPG Maker memes and in-jokes.

6. Projects Designed for an Audience
Chooses mechanics and story beats to maximize player enjoyment and shareability.
Implements features based on popular demand.
Often updates based on community polls or beta tester feedback.

7. High Interest in Romance & Interpersonal Themes
Almost every game contains romance arcs or subplots.
Characters are emotionally expressive, with relationship dynamics front-and-center.
Writes dialogue heavy with personal bonding, humor, and emotional beats.

Turns out the way Rpg Maker draws text is pretty quirky. Because \PY[0] doesn't actually place text at coordinate "0". You'd think Y:0 would be at the top of the window frame. But no. 0 is going to be the middle of the largest character on the same line.
See, these hieroglyphics are like size 60 Font. So using \PY[0] on the same line will end up being in the middle of the profile box. You can't use negative numbers like -1, because it acts like it's of bounds.
But use \PY[0] on line 2 (Profile window has 2 lines); and then it'll place text closer to the top.

It's an honest reply, but, it kind of hurts. How can I put it? There's a psychological comfort in assuming that someone out there knows what they're doing. Someone has the answers.
I don't have a sense of that anymore. I mean, I always thought people were making it up as they go. But I at least believed they were going places and they would eventually get there. Or 'close enough'.

Now there's just this overwhelming apathy, that's contagious. I should never have empathized with it. "Aaaaaah! It touched me. I won't come off. nonono. Succour! Quick. Before I turn into a zombie. You have to shoot me. I'm sorry we never got to make that p-"

Combat is fun - you only get one loot choice from a won fight, right? I got yellow ROM early and defeated nearly everything with needles. Timed events are overrated. There was a bed early on in my run that had some NPCs blocking it that allowed me to walk up the tapestries and pass into the map. Also, a bunch of the weapons say they give fire/ice/blizzard slash and instead crash the game. I like the penguin character.

I tried generating an image of the party fighting a giant snake. In my mind I saw it squeezing characters in a big coil.
ChatGPT tells me, "I can't let you do that, Dave".
I have to ask "Why?", it says "That's forced intimacy".
\9_9/ Come on! Because a giant snake is pressing them together?

So I tried to trick it. We'll start with a big gay "consensual" hug! And then...inpaint a snake around them. It'll never know the difference. Right?

I tried generating my characters hugging.
It would generate 1 character perfectly. But the second character would be a completely random appearance. Some blonde dude with a crew cut. Some black guy with a ponytail.
A clone of the 1st character...

And then I find out that the inpainting tool doesn't work anymore, not like it did with the DALLE model. You make a selection...and it just generates a whole new image. There's no fixing or adding details. Why do they still have this tool then?

So I had to go back to prompt engineering to figure out what phrasing will show the characters struggling neck and neck. It's smart enough to know "this combination of keywords suggest strangulation, suffocation, violence beyond my guidelines."

Psychoanalysts have a lot of theories on desire. Freud and Lacan interpret it as an inequality, lack, or repression.
These other guys (too lazy to google their names) they came up with a "body without organs" concept and this whole thing about capitalism and schizophrenia that has nothing to do with actual capitalism or schizophrenia. Its self-replicating order, and recontexualization.

You need to be really flexible with language. "Schizophrenic" as they call it.
Like a guy wearing pink isn't necessarily gay. There are plenty of explanations for why a guy might wear pink.

Likewise, the phallus as a symbol can mean things other than what a culture dictates (heh). Society says sex is for reproduction only. But psychoanalysts think this is repressing other functions. Like saying your mouth is only for eatting, despite the capacity for speech.

Speaking of mouths. Supposedly TADC is based on "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream". Which is about a superpowered AI called "AM" created for war simulations. It evolved god-like powers to manipulate matter and perception of time, but it's still limited by its initial parameters. The closest it can come to creation are torture scenarios for the remaining humans to suffer.

So Cain in TADC embodies a lot of that. Being a floating set of teeth that's all talk, and regularly censors others.
Anonymous No.3829975 >>3830008
The "body without organs" concept doesn't have to be a living body either. It could be a "body" of text. The words would be organs. They're organized according to grammar rules to communicate meaning. So a body (of text) without organs (words) would be a string of syllables. That's what glossolalia is. Forming syllables is just this impulse that humans have. We probably had the capacity to speak before we had the desire to speak.

It's unfortunate our written history only goes back some 10,000 years. But our species has been around for 100,000 years or more. Who know what language was like back then.

One decade it's Ruby. The next it's Javascript.

The idea is that structure is limited by order and hierarchy.

Like, do you choose characters to fit a plot. Or do you choose a plot to suit the characters?
One or the other is going to have greater potential than the other depending on the genre or character personalities.

I think JRPGs demand a broader cast of characters.A world (maybe a universe) to fill. With plenty of opportunity to develop any of them.
Where as a Survival Horror game set in a dilapidated house or school is going to have only a handful of characters, and worldbuilding is funneled through flavor text, a scrap book or text message history.

In my honest opinion:
No

MZ is easier to use in some aspects.
It has a slightly more recent nodejs version and pixi version. It supports more options, like 32x32 tiles from the editor. It has a search function and list of events tab. .... these are all things that should have been added to MV, but you know gotchagotchagreed

the biggest downside is the community and the excessive push towards paid content, self centered way of developing and releasing content MZ devs would need to use, and basically no community effort. GotchaGotcha is pushing DLC and ads for those in the editor every time you launch the product.

Sure the codebase is more optimized, but it effectively doesn't change a thing. No lag reduction, etc.
MZ supports Effekseer by default, so you can have 3D particle effects. Almost no one uses this from what I can tell though. meh-

MZ is made in a way that it can port MV works to it, however... you can also backport from MZ to MV. It requires more manual effort though.

It's basically VX Ace, but then for MV.
Buying it would support the greedy business practise of releasing something that could use improvement as a new product entirely, and paid DLC based nonsense

last dungeon is playable, still gotta do the parallax for the rooms, next is final boss.

Early on I added an animation hitscan feature where it tests player pixel collision against the transparency of each frame of an animation, but I haven't really done much with it once I finished testing because actually making animations is so tedious. The intention was AoE enemies but the effect is overkill compared to just testing distance from the enemy event.

I think I will try to use it for the final boss. It's a really accurate way to do "don't stand in the fire" positioning gameplay, if I use screen size animations. Not sure how fun that sort of gameplay is though. I know it's better with ranged weapons but I don't have time to fit that.

so im thinking i'll just cobble together a solid, strategic-feeling battle system out of VisuStella and spend my real development time building the menu-based management and dating sim features? the for the battle system is somewhere between PTB and OTB so just throwing some plugins at this gets me probably 90% of the way to the concept.

have you read much saussure, post structuralism type stuff?

the main take on this, inherited by most people who care from derrida, is that saussure believed he could determine a historical origin for language and unite the various morphologies into a universal science of signs on this basis, but more recent scholarship seems to suggest just the opposite, that the reason saussure never published his now infamous lecture notes is precisely because he personally discovered conviction that reflection on the nature of language permanently destroys the possibility of answering the question of origin

3 is likely the realistic number. i don't have money, nor time, nor skills. I do agree that even a solo dev will likely use some hired people here and there or buy content on the market.
I don't get devs making a game for 0 to 3 players. There should be some way where willing people find common ground to work together. From management experience I can tell you, this will never work, if there's no whip keeping people in line. Curious if an llm can do that.

if you're building a resume and want to get hired perhaps one day or to build a portfolio impressive enough that talented people want to work with you just for equity in your company, then using AI to prototype parts of the product you cant create yourself is not the worst idea.

but, its not the best either. simplify your scope, and pick a handful of things off the shelf you know how to use to make up for still-in-scope things you cant do by yourself. if you dont know how to program, buy plugins and configure something unique. if you cant make art, buy assets and flip em. use a combination of pro and AI to fill in the gaps while you refine and focus the overarching game idea.

unless you're literally not of age to post here and dont even have a credit card. but by the way, you'd get rate limited on free AI way before it's producing enough that you can actually use to fill out a game world, unless the literal only thing you need it for is an ideas guy dialog partner.

If these devs somehow magically could work on few projects that are artistically sound, we would have 100% great games in a perfect world. Was wondering if ai could help managing these people. That's likely utopia for now, especially as the western ais aren't even open source.

i think of LLM as like, genre overlord. once you realize you've written your story far enough that it fits into a specific genre or at least you have a nexus of different genres in mind, AND you have conviction about important things like characters, overall plot motivation, key events, THEN you can bounce ideas off the LLM and it will just siphon off TV tropes and toss as many relevant ones at you as it can. thats i what i use it for - a proxy for "what people expect" - whether you want to defy or reinforce expectations is up to you, but the LLM is just a mirror of media.

could i go do the research on tvtropes and youtube myself? maybe, but i've been cultivating taste for a long time i just need a computer to splat stuff onto the screen for me to sift through according to my whim.

I was rewriting CBS shit and was trying to come up with a more elegant way to handle how skill types relate to their scope - the default RPGM2k/3 databases differentiate between skill types like this
>0=1 foe/harmful
>1=all foes/harmful
>2=self/helpful
>3=1 ally/helpful
>4=all allies/helpful
But since the default system doesn't permit using skills on unintended targets, that's where it begins and ends. However, any RPG worth its salt should allow players to use any skill on whoever they want.
This is a "problem" I once used to dread because I was blind to the extremely simple and obvious solution of decoupling scope from effect by storing the default scope just before target selection.
I feel like a real retard for never considering this before, but at the same time, it's hard to feel too retarded since learning is all part of the game.

yeah. the main gameplay is turn based CTB. player will have a diverse range of abilities through different equips they can get, and they will also be able to recruit almost any npc or enemy to their party. but those recruits will be extremely expendable, so if your strategy for this section depends on using the common goblin's ability to disrupt one of the enemies, well, sorry, your goblin only has like 100 hitpoints so you'll need to catch a new one before long if you're not careful.

there will be some dating sim elements to romance stronger npcs who have character levels, class skills, can level up more, etc - but the catch is that they will be just as vulnerable to perma death. so sure, chew through goblin slaves... but if you want to use your waifu's special power to clear a hard boss, you better check your strategy twice.

player cannot save the game. they may exit the game at save crystals, from whence they will load. death = spawn back at save crystal. 3 lives, you can pick up additional lives in the field. however, the games structure wont be traditional RPG overworld type navigation. it will be more of an "extraction" based gameplay loop, but realized in turn based RPG. so if you run out of lives, you just return to base and have to try that "level" again from either the start or one of the check points/save crystals you made it up to.

posting this here because im starting to wonder if the concept is too cruel, and perhaps some of these restrictions should be conserved for a higher difficulty level or new game plus

Most animes are isekai. But they're losing touch with the actual drama. And now there's a rising trend of "isekai" that could easily be an original fantasy world because the MC isn't bringing anything from their previous life to the table. So people have created a "tier" along side AI slop for stories that don't know what they're doing, or why they're doing it.

the enemy becomes a piece of equipment. you could use a weapon swap plugin to leave one slot in reserve for enemies equipped in this manner. during the grapple, you swap weapons to the "equipped" enemy (can give the player the option to still act with weapon, like throwing a kunai with human shield). while equipped, the enemy you grappled takes a % of incoming damage. when you select "attack" command or whatever, it throws the enemy at a target, but perhaps you also gain a special set of "judo" skills. perhaps different enemies you can grapple unlock different skills under this "judo" class of skills

no idea, i'm autistic enough yet to willingly use 2k3. can probably handle this with battle events. given the lack of plugin support, i imagine scripting support is pretty weak too, so your grapples probably need to be made-to-order per troop encounter. but again, not a 2k3 expert

need RPGmaker to run in my browser like G-Dev
