chapter 5 was delayed to 2026 because of the scope of the shadow crystal quest growing as big as it did. basically, it's some time loop shit (think marty mcfly writing johnny b. goode) with a younger version of gaster and a helping of madness. player gets to see the shadow crystal boss go insane, boss element is Death:Scythe, item dropped is GhastlyScarf (+15 ATK +2 MAG). as well:

>asgore and sans appear, tons of hometown citizens get dark world designs
>asriel comes home, as does his friend (some sprites I aggregated pictured here). asriel is a cs major, younger gaster is an engineering major
>asgore is the chapter boss
>young gaster is the shadow crystal boss
>FRIEND appears in the background of a billboard, no lines
>your soul is revealed to susie
>ralsei develops a jealousy of susie and kris being lightners, chapter cliffhanger centers around that
