It's also a question of not letting the mindless darkspawn horde kill everyone. It's better to throw an immature tantrum and run away, because that solves nothing.
The mature and rational thing to do would be to put differences aside until the threat is gone and then, if the people responsible are still alive, put them on trial/in jail/executed.

Not being mentally immature and overemotional is autistic? Ok. Yeah it's totally better to throw a fit when the mindless monster horde is literally at your doorstep and run away. That is mature and normal behavior.

>Anyways the blight dealt with without recruiting
Which you would have no way of knowing at that point, let alone the characters.

Alistair did absolutely everything wrong in that situation
>ignoring orders from a superior
>not briefly postponing vengeance to increase your chances of winning
>ignoring duty as a ruler
>doesn't even realize that grey wardens recruit anyone and everyone, including criminals
>acting unprofessionally in the open
>not even postponing him leaving to help the people of ferelden and being dishonorable

You can still like him, but what he did there was flat out wrong and makes him a bad person. In fact, you could even argue it made it clear he would be a very bad ruler.

'The Wardens are willing to recruit anyone' is not the same as 'the Wardens MUST recruit anyone'. Loghain doesn't even have anything of value to offer as a recruit. He's a supposedly brilliant general (despite showing nothing of this in the game), but you don't need a general. He's meant to be a powerful warrior but to even get the chance to recruit him you've just kicked his shit in in front of the Landsmeet. You can't even recruit him as a sacrifice without metagaming because Riordan doesn't explain why you might want to recruit him until after you've already made the choice.

Realistically speaking you'd want as many grey wardens as possible. Apart from the protag, only Alistair is a grey warden. It'd be downright stupid to turn down additional wardens considering the stakes and low number of them.

There are a lot of really good reasons to have Loghain take the grey warden test and then fight the darkspawn.

Even though I never actually did it, the Loghain ending is by far the most kino ending for the game. The dude is an asshole who is ultimately given the chance to redeem himself, something he actually respects and desires to do for "the greater good". And as a cherry on top, it actually saves both the PC and crybaby from having to sacrifice themselves, something they're obviously not keen to do.

This is the game being very incoherent. All the companions should be Wardens (or somehow immune to darkspawn blood) or the "corrupting darkspawn blood" part should've been cut from the game.

That happens only after the Landsmeet. For all you know (at the time of making that choice) Loghain is right and Gray Wardens are only useful but not strictly required.

Yes, the brilliant general figured the Darkspawn weren't a threat even when they'd overrun half the country and he was literally incapable of defeating them without your help (which he still refuses even if you turn almost the entire Landsmeet against him). All the Guerrins knew, Alistair knew, Maric knew, why would Cailan not know? Unless you believe that Cailan just happened to randomly pick Alistair, the literally who new Warden, to be the one kept back from the fighting.

>just sacrifice the bloodline that Ferelden spent literal decades fighting to preserve under the Orlesian occupation and put some random noble on the throne
None of the others have magical dragon/reaver blood, though. Are they supposed to put some upjumped peasant like An*ra on the throne?
Sacrificing the Theirin dynasty while you still have a living heir is retarded and it's baffling the Landsmeet were even considering it except for narrative drama. It would be dumb even if Cailan and Alistair were terrible kings, but at worst they're merely average (and Alistair can grow to be significantly better even without Anora).

Half-elves are completely physically human. Alistair was raised as a human, it's ambiguous as to whether anyone, even Arl Eamon, even knows who his real mother is (since it was only established outside the game). How are they going to find out, do a DNA test?
Yes, it is better to maintain the magical royal bloodline that dates back to the founding of the kingdom instead of putting some random on the throne. Eamon even points out how retarded it is to suggest while Alistair is alive, and that Loghain doing so is a betrayal of everything he and Maric fought for. Notably, even Loghain doesn't question Alistair's claim, he just raves on about >muh Wardens.

For me, it's just that in retrospect the pacing, encounters and quest design just really does not hold up. Golems of Amgarrak is a notable exception and a 10/10 module if you play it with a fresh character.

>Well, you really don't need to do that and it also makes little sense to do.
That's literally what Duncan did for like half of the origins. He just deus ex machina'd some fuckface criminal, apostate or madman from well-deserved execution with muh Right of Conscription. And it fucking worked.

If Alistair spergs about Loghain it proves that he did not understand what made Duncan a great leader.

Tourists who want to cry about 'muh veilguard writing' now, but can't accept DA always had shit writing. 'Swooping is bad lmao!', etc. Fuck off.

like everything surrounding Loghain and his denial of The Blight and preventing other Grey Wardens (people known for stopping Blights) from coming in and helping because he thinks they are spies

It's nice that tards like you exist for others to laugh at. Thinking they have something witty to say, only it's the most braindead shitpost possible. Great job raising the quality of the board. Now run along back to /b/ where monkeys belong.

DAO has poorly written parts, but you thinking that is one of them speaks volumes for how stupid you are, as well as your inability to judge what is good or bad writing.

it's the only thing I remember about the writing of that game is Loghain being the biggest tard of them all during a national crisis.

That part makes perfect sense considering
>he didn't think the blight was real and that an archdemon was coming (which no one really thinks it is, including the king), don't conflate the player knowing it because it's a game when everyone else doesn't take it very seriously
>he has ptsd from fighting orlais and the king was basically handing ferelden over on a silver platter, at the very least in loghain's eyes
>the king was an arrogant goofball
If you actually knew how real people behave and given the context, that makes sense. It also served as a good opening to the game.

he was at Ostrigar, so that automatically dismisses this claim

None of this matters.
Mystery Niggas did it.
The series is dead.
