I want to burn xenosaga 2 with my mind
I've been playing RPGs since the 90s. I have never in my life seen a game made by a company that creates gold yet this one is worse than shit dipped in more shit and then farted on for good measure.

There's a lot good but wtf. Ormus stronghold almost made me quit. Then there's more cool shit, then 100 annoying side quests that could take hours. Then I slog through the next part and what do I see? Oh cool, labrynthos. More puzzles that don't even make sense plus battles you can't get away from in between. Wtf was wrong with these retards? All the stupid shit sucked every ounce of fun from it, the characters look and sound like bizarro world meth versions, and every time I try and force myself through these last few parts I just wanna throw a baby into a wall.

At this point is it even worth the transfer data or should I just move on to 3 and watch the rest on YouTube?

It has been a long time since I played it, but I don't recall Xenosaga 2 having any redeeming qualities outside of a few interesting cutscenes. Even the majority of the storyline consisted of flashbacks rather than anything that moved the plot forward.

Xenosaga 3 was a nice return to form, though, and a good attempt at hastily bringing the series to a conclusion.

Just use cheats like everyone else. The game is incredibly short when you ignore the side quests. 3 improved everything and only negative thing I can say about 3 was it tends to drag on in the middle.

XS2 is the absolute best and worst of the series. It goes from absolute kino to beyond garbage-tier and never even tries to be in-between.
3 is a much better game as a whole and arguably one of Takahashi's best games period.

I never bought or played Xenosaga 3 because of 1 and 2. Still have zero interest in the series or anything related to it to this day. You kinda have to be a tasteless weeb to get into these games, I think.

If you're past the Ormus stronghold, you might as well finish it, you've done the absolute worst dungeon in the series as well as about 3/4ths of the whole game. I don't remember what the transfer reward was, but if you really hate it you can get away with that.

I remember being really hyped and deep into the series as it was coming out. even 2. I'd really have to do a whole series replay at some point I think, too few sci fi rpgs out there.

Yeah the only XS games worth playing are 1 and 3, trust me OP just watch the story on YT and then go to 3.

>get to the first group of enemies in Saga episode 2
>each one hits like a truck
>getting multiple turns in for doing jack shit
>game over
Man I'm so glad I know a bit about code hacking or else I would have deleted it off my hard drive.

By the time Xenosaga 1 was completed, it was clear to them that their original plans (covering Takahashi's intended story within six games) were simply unfeasible. He didn't realize that he wouldn't be able to cover as much story in a PS2 game as he did in a PS1 game. So they decided to just finish off Shion's arc in 3 games and the developing team was completely jumbled up. XS2 was essentially used as a training grounds for their lesser experienced staff. New director, new writer, new producer, new artists, different composers.
That being said, the battle system doesn't deserve the hate it gets. The side quests do.

People hated the battle system? I just hated the fact that we were stuck with a bad attempt at a gritty gravely voice Chaos VA.

the only redeeming element of saga 2 is the in-game soundtrack from hosoe

made it playable for me, just barely

The most effective way of playing XS2 is skipping turns

Xenosaga is also kind of what "part 1" of xenogears was supposed to be right? Like there's a Zohar and a NotDeus and stuff?

You should skip 90% of the side quests. Only do ones that get you good skills. Combo attacks are never worth it.

Yes and the elemental combo system and stock juggling but it takes for fucking ever and is extremely rote.

There's a normal Zohar, a proto-type Deus and a normal Deus, Abel and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Can definitely tell the main director always wanted endless side quests in the series. Saga ep2 was a testing ground for Xenoblade.
