Endless Legend 2 waiting room and Endless series discussio
Not really a fan of the new art style desu.
EL1's style was legendary kino. EL2 kinda looks like it was made in the early 2010s.
>>1971050As long as its able to communicate whats going on I'll let it pass. I do wonder if the icons for kept their colors related to whatever fidsi resource they're boosting.
>>1971063I'm hoping EL2 doubles down on what EL and ES2 have done right, but after Humankind and Dungeon I'm not going to get invested into it.
FIDSI clarity should be fine, I don't think they've ever had an issue with that. If they did fuck it up then I'll have no delusions of the game being good if they overlook a basic UI fuckup.
As we cannot discuss Endless Legend 2 yet per the rules of the Insiders program, everything I say will be hypotheticals related to Endless Legend 2 and in now way break the NDA. Free my boys Adamantian, Palladian, and Mithrite they ain't do nothing
>>1971123are you happy with the EL2 or its inferior to EL1 so far?
>>1971134For the longest time I have dreamed about EL2 just being EL1 with a fresh coat of paint, so any time I see a mechanic that has become radically different from EL1 I need to spend some time adjusting to it. I will say there are a lot more influences from Humankind than I anticipated so if you absolutely despised every single mechanic in that game with all your heart you might want to temper your expectations for this one. I'm fine with it but I know it's not for everyone.
>>1971050I thought the same until I replayed EL1 and now I'm looking forward to higher fidelity and individual buildings. Everything in EL1 cities was just a bit too samey. Just lots of the same little rectangle.
it's gonna be even more woke than the first one
>>1971168Probably not wrong since the first one wasn't woke at all. Not harder to pick a number higher than 0.
>>1971050Reminds of From Dust. I wonder if it was one of the inspirations behind EL2
>>1971171Sounds like you just hate women.
>>1971169It is woke.
>>1971175How is he wrong? The things he listed are in the game. Why are you twisting it into some weird woman hater non-argument?
Is this the place to talk about Humankind without sperglords?
>>1971559Why not? I'm tempted to make a /civ4xg/ here since the /vg/ mods are hellbent on killing it there.
>>1971044 (OP)Im kinda confused is it the same races plus nu-addons or is it different races?
I'm seeing shit like Broken Lords here? But i did remember one anon saying every planet has their own "Broken Lords" with their own unique culture.
>>1971612It's a different mix of races.
Broken Lords are returning, but the Sheradyn are now entering as a landed faction instead of being a space faction/subfaction in ES/ES2.
Presumably we'll see a mix of returning EL factions, fantasyfied versions of ES/ES2 factions, and some entirely new ones.
And hopefully no drakken.
>>1971559I'd rather keep it Endless related. But if what
>>1971123 is to be believed then go ahead.
Can any beta anons elaborate on how the tide system works in actuality? Is it just aurigas seasons but ocean or something more interesting and engaging at this time?
>>1971168There is a trans leader
>>1971898Based, is she hot?
>>1971884You will pick ze dust coral and you will like it.
>>1971044 (OP)What's the prioritization of FIDSI for EL 1 when it comes to settling? I keep seeing Food as the first item in FIDSI so I end up subconsciously prioritizing it and I know that's wrong but I keep doing it
>>1971044 (OP)Can we have an Endless game where all the playable factions are humans instead of freakshit? Please?
>>1971922So basically seasons with a bit more restrictions on what can move around?
>>1972007No, fuck off. Everyone NOT being fucking (at best pallete swapped) copies of the same hairless apes is the best kind of sci-fi or science fantasy.
>>1971044 (OP)Buy an ad
>inb4 this is the ad I boughtThen drink bleach and die
>>1972003I only put workers on food if the city begins as garbage or if it's winter.
>>1972003Industry is king in Endless games.
Finding a good balance between food (for getting the pops) and Industry is the game
Dust, Science, and Influence are all secondary since they rely on both Industry and Food to be fully exploited via pops and buildings.
>>1971585>/civ4xg/That's the second /vg/ thread I watched die to utter janny incompetence, or this time more as malice.
So actual topic, are we getting the Sheradyn or the Pilgrims? I heard people mention one or the other. Or is it both?
>>1972574I'm assuming both, Imperials/Sheradyn are in the promotional material (the logo on the left in the very OP image)
>>1972007Why? Are you that desperate for Humankind 2? Fuck no.
More weird alien junk
>>1971123Are Morgawr in the game?
What are they like if so?
They and necrophages are my favorite EL factions.
>>1971647>And hopefully no the only good faction
>>1972886>"Nope, sorry, you're not allowed to be at war">good mechanic
>>1972007>>1971171wtf are these retards doing in an endless thread , did you even like the first game , or els2 ?
>>1972886forgot about this one , the only good faction is the one that has unique abilities with the least polished aspect of the game , has mediocre units and heroes and that incentives you to put your cities next to ruins making it so it blocks expanding efficiently in that direction
>>1972003Industry is king of all of their games except Humankind (where it is still 2nd strongest and fuck-huge gap to the 3rd position)
>>1971585>/civ4xgvisited it recently, now its mixed with gsg general whose members totally ruin it
>>1973007>>1973007>Humankindwhat is first then?
>>1972542broken lords and the space fish mommy disagree
>>1973362Notable exceptions only because they can effectively use dust in place of industry
please tell me what you like and dislike about Endless Legend and Endless Space 2. I've owned both for a while but never given them a proper shot

The Human/Mezan empire seems to be contemporary with or slightly younger than the Endless empire, so why are only the Endless effects felt and not humans? There are multiple human empires still existent, so there should be some human built over stuff around the galaxy too.
How do districts work in EL2, are they more like humankind and civ 6 or are they back to the good days of EL?
>>1972804>Morgawr Sadly not in (yet?)
>necrophages Yes
>>1972015More like dust eclipses in 1 but with slight changes, no winter season creating an anti-fun moment
>>1996772More so like Humankind and Civ 6. They recently changed adjacency bonuses for the better. Before you'd get rewarded for putting the same district types next each other, but now you can get improvements for some districts that allow for more freedom of choice but still require planning (for example production districts get a bonus being next to mountains but you can get a science district improvement that gives extra science for any district next to a mountain)

Never really liked the first one all that much. Most of the factions just didn’t do it for me...nothing really grabbed my attention. I couldn’t bring myself to care about their backstories or lore, and the map was kinda shit. The cities and districts looked ugly, and it was annoying that you couldn’t turn on those little resource and ruin and anomalies icons you see in other 4X games. But hey, maybe the sequel will actually be better.
>>2006201These look pretty neat, shame they've got the Drakken diplo though
>>2009396I'm hoping it will be much more well done than their diplo. They had a lot of years to try and figure out what works. I doubt it will be the exact same system from EL1.
Played the demo and it's pretty fun, the humankind elements don't ruin the game unless you really liked the initiative combat system and building settlers.
>>2010665Personally I'm not a fan of the district system that much. It's fine early game but then you're just putting down your 14th science district because you have nothing else to do by that point
>>2010665how can one play the demo? are you a gamer journo?
>>2012155I mostly chalk that up to the lack of city improvements in the current version, it's pretty much all districts and units that you build.

>>2017326NTA but they're interesting.
They took a page out of the Cultists book and they can only have one main city, but your armies can create colony-like "Burrows" that you can use to fast travel around the map. You can attach these burrows to your capital to expand your territory
They gain larvas after each victory and you can evolve them to your liking, which is pretty cool
My main annoyance is that they sometimes talk too much like humans during quests, i would want them to be a lot more primal.
So did Zelevas canonically win Endless Space come Endless Legend II or what? Why doesnt he send a fleet over to whatever this planet is?
>>2017537>Why doesnt he send a fleet over to whatever this planet is?I think it's a classic case of ludonarrative dissonance

Is JINGOIST JOY BONER still viable? I exclusively play cravers and necrophage. I'm hoping that amplitude hasn't made going to war and staying at war stupidly annoying.
I fail to see what's the point of this game. It looks like generic civslop.

>>2019534I guess you could just attach all your conquered territory to your main city using the burrow mechanic. It's still just one city but you can build on like 8 other provinces you've captured.
>>1973598>Quests can railroad you sometimes into doing things you don't want to doHonestly I kind of like that stuff, my main issue with it is the lack of resources to see quest lines as a flowchart once you've stopped roleplaying in singleplayer and want to play to win.
For example it's kind of fun to play a ES2 game with Vaulters and know that they're gonna chimp out over "MUH HOMELAND" if you colonize Auriga, in the same way that you know Necrophage is gonna be constantly at war, or Forgotten are gonna be spamming Espionage.

>>2018097>generic civslopArguably the problem is trying too hard to be special and distinct from Civ, to the point that every faction to have some shakeup on par with CivV Venice like having the food economy reliant on getting food from battle/being physically unable to declare peace, literally removing food as a mechanic, or being so money-dependent that you buy land for new cities instead of making settlers.

Quality drastically dropped once they outsourced the work (to India I guess) including the artstyle.
They even have a free homosex dating simulator for PR reasons lmao.
After the Humankind fiasco they transitioned to being a smaller thing, but only doubled down on woke. >>2020996https://community.amplitude-studios.com/amplitude-studios/endless-legend/blogs/710-endless-legend-is-now-in-chinese
It was during the middle of HK drama and the update broke the game quite literally and bloated it, as it added 1/3 of space extra that was just Chinese edited videos.
"Some people could be offended because a real life culture gets some spotlight in a fantasy/sci-fi game which was free of real life references. Besides some obviously design in form of medieval knights and culture (Broken Lords and to some extent Sisters of Mercy). But it was never mentioned that a specific faction is based on any folklore.
- The way the Magtay are described could be interpretated as to get a favorable outlook bye the Chinese government. Which, lets face it, has a big say in their gaming market. Just see the latest Blizzard controversy regarding free speach and their poor handling of it and not taking a stand.
- Some could argue that their description would be more fitting for a major faction instead of a minor one. It sounds like a faction with a rich history. Which is not surprising since it is based on chinese folklore" as one user commented.
So China good during the China bad times.
>>2021359Again, none of this means anything. Adding a faction loosely based on Chinese aesthetics = "china good"? Then how can the game be "men bad" when it also features men? You are mentally ill.
>Some people could be offended because a real life culture gets some spotlight in a fantasy/sci-fi game which was free of real life references. Besides some obviously design in form of medieval knights and culture (Broken Lords and to some extent Sisters of Mercy). This is just stupid. Every fantasy setting ever constructed has factions loosely based on historical cultures and their folklore. Endless Legend is more creative than most but even then e.g. the Roving Clans are very obviously based on the Mongols and Turks, having one faction based on Chinese stuff is nothing notable.
Also I would argue that the Magtay at least aesthetically have a much closer resemblance to China's minority groups like the Miao and Bai. If their creation was supposed to somehow represent an endorsement of China then you would expect them to be based on Han culture like every other fantasy China ever made. Instead they specifically chose to highlight some of the ethnic minorities.
>>2021379Well, be in denial still.
It was jarring, it was on the nose and overt, was opportunistic (there was open vested interest to placate the censors), was during the HK drama, many other studios did the same during that time.

>>2038069>popularIs it, though? It got a spike in interest because of ecelebs but otherwise it doesn't really seem like a "big" game. It's also 9 years old.
>>2038069It's just one of those games that flew under the radar AND doesn't really have anything to talk about. I do lament the lack of good information but in the end the tutorial and playing a couple of short games on easy gets you 95% of the way.
Also being a 4x game, it's too slow for most content creators to pick up and get views. Unironically Sseth's video might be the best publicity the game ever got.
That said feel free to post some more, we're at least 3 anons right now, we can bitch together!
>hissho playthrough>can't find a five planet system in my area>finally find one>its being colonized the lumeris>start fighting over the system>declare war>start building cultural enrichment centers (25 keii but +1 fidsi for each pop)>subjugate then raze the system >send in behemoths to dig up resources and scan for goodies>repeat until i control all home systems in my galaxyHaving additional keii per turn from the Academy also helped given the Hissho's animosity towards pirates.
>>2038069Whats on your mind?
I don't like this trend in 4x games where adjacency bonuses are now really popular and almost central to some games, I'm sorry
>>2038733You want to play as a tall civ with isolated pockets?
>>2038562>>2038726Ok I got something.
What's a good rule of thumb for getting tech? I usually just run around whatever ring Im in and then when Im done I just go to the next ring, but the guides say that's inefficient and I should be getting things that cater to my race playstyle instead. Something that has no indicators whatsoever.
Do I just start with the original techs I'm given and then just move in that direction only?
>>2039553Take what you actually need or will need soon, then important unlocks, then improvements.
There's no reason to rush all the colonisation types if you don't need them. Look at your FIDSI and see what you actually need.
That said, you can't really go wrong by starting with
>Xenolinguistics>Plasma Metallurgy (delay until you find hyperium)>Xenobiology>Off-World Agribusiness>either military tier 1>Baryonic Shielding (delay if you have plenty of starlanes to explore)>Autonomous Construction>Galactic Commodities>Astrofinance (build a trade HQ asap and give it a couple of trade ships)>Autonomous Materials>impactless sites>unlock tier2 strategy resources whenever relevant, and later tier 3 tooimo that covers your bases with the essential stuff without specializing. The rest depends on your faction and systems, add some colonoization techs and improvements as needed
>>2039553I personally focus on getting ships and production going for whatever faction i'm playing as. If you're the Vaulters guy then focus on getting food and production as the Vaulters already have a boost in science.
What do you think is being jailed in the planet? One of the Endless? An Old God?
>>2039725My theory is that it's a member of the Lost (precursors in halo terms).
>lost were basically turned into dust>some were imprisoned on planets>auriga (endless legend/dead), koyasil (unfallen planet), sobar (nakalim planet) all have a member of the lost>in the trailer he calls himself many things (eldritch being)>calls the endless his jailersSahar's description also paints it as Saiadha, indicating that the comet in the trailer is the catalyst for either his death or escape.
HOWEVER
The presence of Vaulters throws this theory out of wack since Vaulters only achieved galactic exploration right when everyone else did. I personally like the era between the departure of the Endless and the start of ES2.
>>2031811amplitude discovered some endless tech that let them see the future and they actually stole the civ switching idea from civ 7 before it even came out

>>2039747These are not Vaulters but Sheredyn (but retarded and pussywhipped) of Zelevas time. It is around ES2 time
>>2038932I just don't like it on a personal level. Like it encourages planning turn 500 on turn 0 and remembering all the techs that you'll be unlocking over time instead of just playing in the moment
>Start a Hissho game
>everyone else is a pacifist
I did not expect that kind of frustration
>>2040063The Sophons have so many science bonuses you have to take them all together to see how good they are.
>best science pop after the Vodyani (who have their own baggage)>pop collection bonus gives % science>omniscience>quest law which is like a second omniscience for a quadrant of your choosingTheir biggest problem is getting cut off from key resources (no hyperium, no luxury for pop boost, no cold planet), but if you start snowballing the game just flies by.
>>2041098I guess I never got to that point, or maybe always got a terrible start, every time I tried them it's just a struggle early game because the extra science doesn't mean much if I'm taking techs that everyone's getting anyway because you always need most of the same early stuff, and rushing later techs with omniscience just bottlenecks everything else, and by the time I start getting some serious research going on it's simpler to just get a couple fleets and start attacking, when I'm not accidentally winning with an alliance.
>>2037577game just feels sterile all the factions are interesting but I have no desire to grow an empire and growing the cities doesn't feel satisfying.
>>2039553>I should be getting things that cater to my race playstyle instead. Something that has no indicators whatsoever. There are.
Every race/faction has an original population, this population has political leanings and opinions they will naturally default to, and all improvements and techs have political leanings that support that.
Im playing Lumeris right now.
>Pacifists>Hedonists (means that ecology will also support their pacifism slightly less)>and anti-militarists So when I go to my tech wheel and improvement queue and look for new stuff, the loreful path would be pacifist techs first, then some ecologists and militarist stuff dead last. Then strategize from there.
>>2041874This sounds like how I'd want the game to play but when you're actually in games it quickly breaks down.
Everyone needs industry to actually make anything.
Everyone needs science to research what they need at a reasonable speed.
Everyone needs some good enough ships to defend themselves because of pirates and any military faction, also like a third of the quests
(almost) everyone needs some food to at least sustain their population, but even more to man ships
Everyone needs at least enough Dust to support their empire
Influence is the only one you can really neglect but that comes with the massive opportunity cost of not using any laws.
There's some good basics in the game but they don't go far enough. The Lumeris for example should be able to bribe pirates and and individual fleets, buyout anything, have more faction-exclusive Dust gimmick. They should be able to buy mercenaries instead of building tier 2+ ships, or be able to pay a fleet to fuck off, maybe even outright buy them for a large amount of Dust.
Some factions are more gimmicky than others but 90% of the general game plan is still the same.
>>2041901You can get those things anon, heck the first two improvements are politically neutral, but focus on the loreful options first. Otherwise you're going to play every faction the same and get bored.
>play faction with certain playstyle lorefully.>lose because all your time was spent playing another faction with another playstyle.>slap the playstyle you're used to on every faction you play because that's just the meta bro.>Burnout because you're playing essentially the same game over and over with minimal changes.pacifists need to go to war sure, but they have tools to get themselves out of wars easily. You should be able to neglect military stuff at least for a little while.
>pacifist cravers
>industrial horatio
>scientific vodyani
>ecological riftborn
>religious sophons
>warlike unfallen
If you haven't played the polar opposite of your factions beliefs then give it a whirl. Pacifist Cravers are more involved with their population than Horatios given their slavery mechanic.
>>2041978You must be seeing something I don't because that just makes no sense to me.
>bro play pacifist but also disregard the fact that you need scientific and industrialist tech to even do anything>make sure to reroll untill you spawn on a perfect system with 5 temperate planets, colony tech is mostly scientific after all>also better hope there's no pirates, Cravers, Hissho or Vodyani nearby>while at it make sure to not integrate most other races>better ignore half the quests too>strategic resources techs? nah bro that's industrialist>diplomatic techs are religious btw don't even think about it>enjoy the free militarist Gnashast ;)I'm half shitposting here but I believe that shows my issues with this idea.
>>2042047I went ahead and tried it. I rolled Lumeris vs Riftborn, Hissho and Cravers.
Sure early on I can play mostly pacific but soon enough I was doing the same as usual except for military, I just kept paying pirates, giving dust to other factions and forcing peace. I somehow managed to get an alliance with the Hissho but that got me at war agaisnt cravers and riftborn. I had to at least develop attackers to defend myself, plus some military tech for CP and weapons. I kept buying every ship and sending them his way while focusing on economics. By turn 105 I had enough Dust to win solo so I dropped the alliance and won. I ended up with most of empire, science and economy quadrant unlocked, militarists got a seat twice and industraliste a couple times too. I could mostly stay pacifist with the republic actions but the 2nd seated varied a lot.
Also I spent the entire 2nd half of the game starved for orichalcix, all the deposits where in enemy territory and they never sold any, I only had like 0.8 via trading routes with Hissho.
>playing pacifist cravers
>find sowers
>start breeding them
>get hostage environmentalism from academy
>slows down depletion by half a point for cravers
>stacks with itself
>cravers are now healing planets
>sowers are now depleting planets
>mfw
I have a feeling the boon from the Academy just inverts the depletion mechanic. Its a strange bug for a strange playstyle for sure.
For a fantasy game, this has one of the most soulless minimalist UIs I've ever seen next to that of AoW4. Hopefully they remedy this in the future
Why did I get banned for a two month old post
It took you that long to notice it? or did Amplitude get mad people were shitting on their crappy game so much?
>>2043044It's consistent to say the least.
>>2042279Not bad, Did you have fun? I forced peace everyone I came into contact with and by the end they wanted to be my allies. From there I was the greatest ally as I just kept reinvesting into my trade companies, getting all my allies to sign trade deals, and having enough influence to support them. I even hacked my own allies to siphon even more money from them.
My giant deathball of allies did all the fighting for me. I just bankrolled them. Yeah I got some military stuff just in case, but I barely used them ever.
>>2043200It was fun but it also felt like I was ignoring half the game for no reason & handicapping myself. Maybe a better map or better faction RNG would have been different but 3 hostiles factions on a fairly linear map didn't really let me do much diplomacy and and trading. The lumeris questline has an option at some point to reach some amount of Dust by trade route and it just wasn't going to happen in this game. Also by turn 70 or so everyone kept either having a non-agression pact with the pirates or buying out marks so they became useless.
>>2043210>Maybe a better map or better faction RNG would have been different but 3 hostiles factions on a fairly linear map didn't really let me do much diplomacy and and trading.I agree and other than for the obviously shorter games I don't understand why anyone would not have the full 12 faction variety. Try that next time and see what happens.
>>2043220Yeah that's a fair point but holy fuck it takes ages to play big maps and slower games, I dunno why it but feels worse for ES than other 4x games to me.

I was thinking about the overarching plot today after rewatching the trailer. Saiadah is clearly a more malevolent and violent force compared to Auriga and Koyasil (two other prominent Lost) and is perhaps terraforming the planet to be less life supporting (Ocean -> Desert (-> Lava??). Perhaps the theme of the game is not going to be about the planet "reverting" like in EL1 but rather weaponizing itself and controlling its inhabitants to restore power to the Lost. It would create an alternative perspective to the Lost as the purely innocent victims that ES2 and EL1 put forward (I haven't read Shadows of the Endless yet).
>>2073826Lost were not (all) innocent. Frequently demanded love and worship, after all, they created races to worship them. Sort of like toxic grooming boyfriend.
Auriga was a good girl, but that seems an rxception, as Koyasil or Sobra or Isyander Controller were selfish dicks and I presume Saiadha is the same.

>>2082479Should've called it "sworn sibling". I'm also in the program. The havens don't pop up when they get their get lover. You have to build the tile with a level 3 hero.
>>2082712Transpecies, homosexual love is kind of a wet dream of woke, so yes.
>>2082844I repeat,
>love is woke
>>2082479Good to see some new mechanics. I've been kinda lukewarm on what's been revealed so far, nothing is so standout it's keeping me up at night.
>>2082844well then choose an option that isnt gay sex for your guys, and kill the other factions for being homos. It's really not that hard.
>>2083538>le love is le lovehomosexuality is not 'love' it's sadism at worst or a sexual practice at best. most normal people are blissfully ignorant of what homosexual 'relationships' actually entail and the fags themselves are neck-deep in cognitive dissonance because the human mind is a machine that can justify the unjustifiable
almost every lesbian relationship suffers from bed death and then turns into an abusive thing
>>2084791Well yeah, having approximately 10-50 times as many partners as normal people and about 40% shorter lifespan does tend to do that
>>2084791once again,
>love is woke
>>2035908Obviously play Hissho, disregard approval and instead maintain honor.
>>2073826Saiadha was originally a desert. The Endless just imprisoned Saiadha inside the planet and then dumped a bunch of water on it.
>>2078113Necrophages are directly descended from Cravers that were left behind after Cravering a planet.
>>2082841More like five steps back, but that's probably because it's more of a humankind remake than an Endless Legend sequel. I haven't played the insiders build in months because I've been so disappointed with it.
>>2091403> I haven't played the insiders build in months because I've been so disappointed with it.What are the issues?
>>2091601It's more of a humankind remake than an Endless Legend sequel.
That's more or less the best summary I can give of the issues. I could write an entire dissertation on why, but you could also just watch any of the press content that's been released of the game because a lot of it should be on display there, save for some of the more recent changes like the erasure of what little nuance existed in strategic resource use. Though the UI alone might be terrible enough to kill the game outright if civ 7 is anything to go by.
>>2091403>no governors>no unit customization>horrible time period choice>no art for the improvements (might be temp)>heroes in general>modern sensabilitiesCombat and city building have been improved. I wish they kept the old minimalist UI.
>>2082844 You don't have to play as Pontus and you don't have to pick the homo xenophile option, anon.
>>2041978>>2043200Based player. I'm currently on an ultrapacifist treehugger run on endless diff with 12 players. It was a slow start but by now (turn 100) I'm massively leeching science, luxuries and dust from all the other civs nearly only by trade and science agreements + laws. Peace or force peace with everyone. Influence is the key resource. Also tried to not build or research any behemoths but I caved in and made a single citadel (playing tall).

I don't think EL2 will do well at launch. It's much, much too streamlined compared to EL1.
Negatives
The UI is too bright and colorful.
Unit customization is replaced by upgrades you buy
Heroes are now just super units
Governors and empire plans are replaced by a council
Tile acquisition is done with with influence instead of expanding to them with burrows
Lack of art for events
Ruins are replaced by provisions
Horrible time period choice
Positives
Combat overhaul is very welcome
Diverse amount of buildings that interact with the environment
Mixed
Marriage system
Quests being more dialogue heavy
Even looking past the negatives I still can't recommend EL2.
why did they remove sand niggas
The waiting room just got waitinger.
>>2091601NTA but there's such a focus on build districts -> build improvements on districts -> build districts -> build improvements on districts -> tech unlocks new improvements -> build districts -> build improvements on districts
I know that my dislike of adjacency bonuses on districts is down to personal tastes, but it almost makes me feel like I'm playing a puzzle game and not a 4x game
Also I feel like the combat has improved but isn't better than AoW4 so if the rest of the game doesn't grab me then I'm not going to drop that in favor of EL2
Everything about this game looks and feels subpar, they had the easiest layup of their life with Civilization 7 crashing and burning and they still can't manage to put out a decent, solid product. Pathetic.
Why do they love quests so much in these games? They just don't fit the way they're shoehorned in and railroad you into doing things that don't make sense for your civilization at the time. At least hire a decent writer so I don't get bored halfway reading the quest lore text talking about the feelings of characters I've never heard of.
>>2098011I like most quests in EL1
>>2098011The quests are better in EL1. They got too personal in the sequel. The lack of artwork also hurts
>>2095753>The UI is too bright and colorful. It's also a mess or ornate, geometric shapes as opposed to the minimalist and utilitarian UI design in their previous games.
>Tile acquisition is done with with influence instead of expanding to them with burrowsThis is what bothers me most about citybuliding in EL2. It's like they really wanted there to be an influence sink, but didn't want to put in the effort of making a proper replacement for the empire plan. If the council was more fleshed out, it might be a suitable replacement, but the council is functionally more of a replacement for governors and/or a stand-in for the politics system from ES2 - and a really simplistic and lazy one at that.
>Ruins are replaced by provisionsRuins still exist, actually. But they're only created at the start of certain quests and they exist solely for you to walk a unit onto them. Once you've done that, they stick around and cuck you out of tiles, just like in EL.
>>2097136Current builds are for testing in preparation for EA. Sand people aren't going to be playable when EA launches.
>>2098011EL2 easily has the worst implementation of quests in any Amplitude game by far.
