how did linkin park predict the aesthetic of shadow empire?
Losgistics keeno Columbo DLC, think of it. Every time you push the button to end your turn, your cloned reincarnated Columbo advisor stops you and says, โขoh and one more thing sirยฅ
>>1996674And the procedural ethnicity generation too.
30k snakes at my capital had danger sitting high for 20 turns.
>>1997006Lmao where is this, Ireland Maxima?
>>1996674ONE THING
I DON'T KNOW WHY
CAN'T DISCOVER POWER PLANT NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY
Will try to have an update today, rounds have been processed but all my free time writing about Shadow Empire has been taken up bickering about diplomacy (and work has picked up a little)
Turn 032
>discovered Light Armor Army
>discovered High Speed Machinegun
>researching Combat Armor and Physical Storage
>My SHQ commander finally had his chimp out at Relation 40 during a Decade of Revolution (despite being member of the ruling faction). The uprisings in El Dorado and Polymer were immediately crushed, leaving one unit left on the swampy peninsula northeast of Polymer where I had units vermin busting
>it looks like Viron, Lakes, and myself have come to a tentative tripartite border agreement, but they're disputing over a Guardian minor between them
>Lakes sent an embassy which I accepted
>Opened Contact with Raider Nation, he is building Wind Traps because it looks like he does not have adequate water.
>Power Plant is done, now to fully commit to fixing my logistics disaster and getting an Ammo Factory going
>I have a slight tech lead on Viron despite opening with Heart and only getting Tech Fascination last turn. Everyone else opened with Mind.
>>1996347 (OP)>proceed to replace art with ai
>>1997420looks like the sassy black ladies are about to coup you
>>1997456Can your secretary even do that? She's been below 40 relation for most of the game, and I have no idea why
>>1997420the fuck is that creatura
>>1997420Maybe he tried rolling unification on a minor 13 times before realizing that the result is predetermined at round start.
>>1997420>>1997789Bros bros, im sorry, i just got really mad. the first time i got a super roll on a minor protection card but then stupidly called my secretary to make a new organization and closed it by accident without choosing one. And after closing i cant repeat the organization creation this turn. Yeah i decided to roll back to make an organization but after that i had such terrible rolls when i succeeded on the first one just some fucking magic right there. I dont use these things to cheat in any meaningful way like fights and dont have plans to use it this way i swear and by the way i never got another successful roll after those so in reality im lost and got literally nothing
>>1996674>>1996979Legit looks like a cap I leader with 97 ambition you get from a talent card

>>1997920I have a suggestion.

Do your turn and send it on.
Then go and open your now old save again and test whatever it is you're trying to do.
>>1998335Kek
I dont mind if its uncomfortable for you to just replace me with another player, it wont be a problem for me
>>1998358Sure, but also check the same thing i wrote above, you have my password just in case
>>1998450I'm not replacing you, just please don't do it again. It hasn't affected anything in Game 1. If you did it in Game 2 I might feel differently.

My starting soldiers are getting clowned by nomads
Since i'm new, I dont know how strong or weak i should be compared to minor factions from the get go. But somehow the idea of my foot troops getting repelled by cavalry units is offensive to me
>>1998827>starting soldiersoften starting models are worse than militia or other minor faction models
you need better rifle and armor ASAP, it will double your FP and survival at small cost
>>1998827infantry are not attacking army but mostly for defending, also when you start game you need to check every unit type base design strength value, if its below 95 they are bad and need to be redesigned from the ground up. Some can be ignored if you wont build them.
>>1998827steppe BVLLS keep winning
Why doesn't this retard just fucking let me edit a planet manually ? why do i need to reroll a billion times ?
Is everything OK in game 1? Haven't got a turn in a while
>>2001811Yes I just got home and I'm about to do the turn
>>2000877Because you'd just make Earth.
>>2000877cuz its the planet is simulated. its liek asking if you can manually edit worlds in dorf fortress
>>2000877I do wish we could set parameters and just let it roll until it finds something that fits them, like that Prepare mod for Rimworld.
>>2000877coz he is tard and shit at design
I want a map editor ala Civilization 3 so I can make a massive Pangea world with one major island chain off of it. Then Iโm going to play tall on those islands. And Iโm going to defend those islands to the last man as my empire is outnumbered 100 to 1 and we hold off dozens of D-Days until we collapse under the unrelenting pressure.
Turn 033
>slowly getting to Hagenloh
>accidentally bordered more warmongers in the east despite trying not to
>Oreflats Clan chimped out declared war
>>2003293You canโt even win that battle without light tanks.
>t. anon responsible for getting l. tanks nerfed.
>>2003553Under the right conditions you can even win a war with just basic troops and mechanized infantry + maybe one heavy tank brigade against a hard AI, that was the case in my game. No idea how big the difference in MP would be though
>>2003553They're coming. Eventually.
Now that I can actually use the website again, Rowan from the Oceania game, your mailbox is full and I can't send the turn
>>1998920My base unit design has the highest att stats around 35-45, so should i redesign from scratch? And if so, what weapons and armor should i use for the new base design?
>>2004588Im not talking about unit stats but Structural Design which rolls from 70 to 130 (first column from the pic), unlike base design which improves with field testing in later models Str design cant be changed and it influences strength of a unit, i consider anything below 90 trash and try to reroll anything below 95

>>2004621Ooooh i see, thank you
>>1998827My first serious game (after the initial "how do you even play this thing?" test game), I got stuck on a peninsula with hostile minors blocking one half of the only way out behind a river, and the other half being full of packs of aggressive 9m long molluscoids with tank-level armor.
The game after that, I was on a 1-2 hex wide stretch of swamp between ocean and a massive mountain range.
After that, I got literal Hell with rivers and lakes of lava, deadly atmosphere, average temperature of about 60ยฐC and soil full of heavy metals (not that you could farm in that anyway).
Laqisio Turn 035, Game 1
>they said I couldn't take Hagenloh with that army, so I did.
I had enough GR Infanty+MG
NEW GAME INTEREST CHECK:
If you posted last thread about not having time to play until spring, and/or are terrible at checking emails in a timely fashion like Maximus, I have more players looking to start a game. Since I am in three games currently, I will not join this unless it gets stuck at three players, but I am happy to faciliate matchmaking and even map generation if you'd like.

Feels like I'm playing Twilight Imperium where everyone just want to hug each other, and turtle up forever.
>>2011775I like it but I also understand why people don't or were disappointed by it. MTHs are a dimension much better explored in multiplayer games.
>>2011810MTHs remind me of the spacing guild from Dune. So I kinda like it for that
>>2011851I'm playing an Oceania hotseat game against myself (to practice for later rounds in the PBEM games) and just realized how powerful Maritime Breakup is (3FP, create new MTH from existing MTH zone) because it can completely screw an invasion, so then you want to do everything in your power to keep your invasion corridor controlled by a single zone MTH because Breakup can't be played on it, but then you need to make sure they've got plenty of ships and low aggression yet high warfare.
It's also incredible to watch a large MTH attack a small one and roll 1 and lose 80% of their ships.
Yeah I know it's not "submarine go brrrrrr" but it's still an interesting mechanic.
>>2011810I'm going to get it anyway because I really like the game. Is it possible to play PBEM with someone who doesn't have it if I have it?

>>2021466Its one of those cases of a game being perceived as complex because of a terrible ui and controls, I actually found it easier than hoi3 but with a much better ai who can put a fight

>>2022075Well, as the other DLC is shit and sucks balls, my guess is this one will fail to deliver as well.
Will Truck station > supply depot > truck station have any impact or are supply depots ONLY for the last leg of the journey?

>>2022164From what I can tell you're supposed to chain them like you described. Supply depots increase the range of truck stations, but they don't actually make truck points so you'll want another station at some point. When that's not enough, build another supply depot and so forth
>>2022075it's just what the players wanted, a random event pack for personnel management
>>2022075I would not mind having warships and submarines, but this one also seems good
Why did he do the spacer's guild but wet instead of just adding navies?
My theory is that true navies would be too hard to have the AI use and this makes them less of a pushover.
>>2022800>Why did heDeciphering an autistic boomers mind is not plausible
>true navies would be too hard to have the AI useThe AI already can't play the game properly. Airforces were in the game for literal years before he finally touched up the AI so they can now sort-of-kind-of use it. You're still lucky to get more than a few air battles out of a campaign.
>>2022801>The AI already can't play the game properly. Airforces were in the game for literal years before he finally touched up the AI so they can now sort-of-kind-of use it. You're still lucky to get more than a few air battles out of a campaign.Yes, and presumably he was cognizant of that when he made navies an independent AI with simple goals that interfaces with regimes by giving them point to point logistics. That should (again presumably) be much easier to get them to use than the myriad of options airforces give.

It's such a magical feeling when you finally have enough light tanks to do maneuver warfare. How does PBEM even work in this game, do you guys literally fire up your email client and send the fucking saves to each other?
>>2047466Yup. If you're with a good group you'll get to do 1 perhaps 2 turns per day, so games go on for months depending on your tech-start level and number of players.
In my experience, It's a lot more fun than SP, and even if it's just one turn you'll spend tons of time planning, learning the nitty-gritty details of the mechanics, doing diplomacy with other players or deciding upon what to spend your very precious limited resources on, because every single thing matters.
>>2047545Legit. & pirated copy cross-play?
Game looks real fun. I might even drag some friends into it.
>>2047576It works. Just make sure you're all on the same update at game-start, afterwards it does not matter if someone updates to a beta while others don't.
>>2047466You create a password for your turns and it asks you to save at the end of every turn. Then yeah you email it.
What are these black river-like tiles supposed to be?

>First game?
Bounced right off.
>Second game?
Lost before turn 50 by having my starting city razed by nomadic biped cavalry.
>Third game?
It's turn 380. I control 40% of the planet, the other remaining major controls the rest. I have 55% of the global population. We have technological parity, but my territory is much more heavily developed and my industrial base is massive. I've just built my first 100mt ICBM launchers. They have about 250k troops in their standing army, and there's an enormous buildup on my borders. I am rapidly entrenching along my mountain ranges and building up a core of heavy armor to punch through their lines supported by my newest plasmajet powered superheavy level bomber. We are dead locked on victory points within 6 points of one another.
There's only one way this can go.
>>2057505True shadow empire kino
>>2057805Any suggestions on how I should deploy nuclear weapons, and defend myself against retaliation? I haven't used any yet, and have really only done a limited amount of ranged attacking in general, mostly with tactical bombers.
Will an area shield in each city protect it against nukes? I've been building some automated turrets in each city center to prevent cheeky captures, and I have some mechanized rapid response forces to help protect supply lines in addition to the heavy infantry and guns I have forming the core of my border defense forces.
My offensive forces are a mix of mechanized, armor, and a few nuclear armed monitor tanks.
Everything supported by airbases in each city, and my latest aircraft all have 33 hex range. I think I need to add some fighters on intercept mode as well.
>>2057505Even on "slower" games I'm almost done with the tech tree by turn 150, how did you make it take so long?
is there a way to turn on battle screen on defensive battle?
the same one you see when you are attacking but for defend?
>>2058587Sadly not, all you can do is read the reports
>>2058503How do you tech up so fast? My current normal game is up to turn 110 and I still haven't discovered power plants yet. Feels bad.

Viron (21 VP)
>Won war against Lakes after capturing Aurora. >Mopping up Lakes remnants>Defenses are being built in the west and south to counteract a potential intervention from the other players. Goldriver Kingdom (15VP)
>Highest HDI. >Slight lead in tech, very good profile feats. >Lackluster standing army. >Tons of minors ready for annexation. >Holding the only Radioactive deposit since round 20. Poised to be a nuclear superpower.Raider Nation (12VP)
>Almost catched up in VP and pops>Pursuing a bold strategy of not any researching techs, instead putting everything into discovery. Lakes
>It's over
>>2059152>>2059330Like my tech guys refuse to discover basic power despite moving so far down the line it's mental, same goes for heavy and hi tech industry. Still hand crafting machines. I get I'm being retarded I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.
>>2059791It's a case of shit rng by the looks of it. Never research more than three things in the basic tech tab (so engineering doesn't unlock) until you have everything you need
so have they ever done something with AI' logistic?
I fucking hate how their troops can just hop across the biggest mountain range while I have to play around the geography
>>2061151Doesn't seem like it. My opponent was keeping 250k troops supplied no problem with a scattered web of dirt roads.
Meanwhile keeping my ~120k troops supplied and my zone logistics running requires level 3-5 high speed rail in every city and a carefully laid out sealed road network with distributed truck stations.
>>2061151Vic promised us mid-core logistics but i don't think they have left beta yet.
Do npc nations EVER accept peace in this fucking game
>>2049787Thee's AI portraits now?
>>2062997No.
The entire diplomacy system could be stripped out and the game wouldn't play any differently.
>>2062997Nope. I tried for probably 50 turns to get another major to accept a non-aggression pact and the rolls never even got close, even using every buff I could to improve my chances, with full cooperation in every other category, and with 90+ relation.
Then when I went to war with our mutual neighbor, they took advantage and started a mad race to capture their territory and cuck me out of my rightful expansion. Then they built up 680,000 fucking troops and put them all directly in my border, and still wouldn't accept a NAP.
So I ICBM'd all their largest cities and used nuke armed monitor tanks to kill 200k troops in about 5 turns, then won the game because I went from 55% to 79% of the world population.
