You have to be quick but also not reckless.
Use sneak mode next to a door and skip a turn to listen for enemies before going inside.

Also make sure you select a mission that is appropriate for your current gear and operator.

Look at your operator and see what they are good at, if they are a melee specialist or a shotgun guy.

Games that don't let me hoard are just cruel.

Sneaking consumes less calories and you do not consume AP for certain actions anymore. Although you only get 1 AP.

Monsters actually become less of a problem as you progress. Early on, a couple of quasimorphs can massacre entire rooms full of regular goons, raising the morphosis and possibly spawning more monsters as you go. Later on in the tech progression, when a human collapses into a monster, the monster is now surrounded by elite soldiers with heavy armor and auto-fire laser rifles who will blow him away in one turn.

Generally speaking the q-morphosis adds a bit of urgency to the situation. Bring smokes/booze if you have them. Having map scanners or batteries to power up terminals so you can use the map scan lets you move a lot faster overall, or if you have the scanner upgrade for the Magnum you get a similar effect. It's possible to avoid fights to a degree but it's probably more risk than it's worth since it dramatically increases the odds of you getting surrounded in a bad situation.

Keep a water bottle on your vest and splash yourself when you get lit up. I also make a habit of taking the fuel out of the barrels if I don't plan on using them against enemies.

Loot priority is a bitch, you want pretty much everything. The only things that are definite priority are data chips and ship upgrade parts. Snagging strong guns when you see them is also usually a good move. Try and beeline the shuttle storage/cargo pod upgrades, they make a big difference in how much you can profit from each mission.

1st of all OP, you should stop treating those edgy comedy review skits of some autistic jewish Dutchman pretending to be a Polish expat living in the UK pretending to be a Nigerian warlord inbetween his brain surgery sessions like they're the a valid purchasing aid or even a real review of the games they cover.
JK ofc, I honestly love how Ssseth's review of Caves of Qud accidentally revealed how one of their devs (who also completely coincidentally was the guy running their Discord server) turned out to be a communist pedo running a hippy polycule and who's been secretly cucking his "'lesbian'" Wiccan wife with most of her underaged '"girlriends"' behind her back for years, despite having been convicted of CSA multiple times already.

A downside to sneaking is time passes faster, which progresses q-morphosis faster. Generally I found myself wanting to be swapping between sneaking and sprinting, depending on the situation. The 'sound' of sprinting isn't as big as you'd expect; and it lets you open a door, shoot, then close it.
>>2051288
yeah it's a fun game, but easy to burn out on. I'm interested to see what it looks like later.
Overall the 'progression' of building up the ship mostly felt like a pacing device, which I didn't like much. The permadeath of factions in campaign mode is interesting, but it definitely needs an endgame payoff for it to make sense. It's hard to imagine anything other than Tezctlan being the endpoint of the story. It's lame that travel takes so much time, they need to have inter-planetary missions like boarding actions, or just balance it better.

The clone who can eat raw meat with no infection chance is easy mode for starting out, some melee weapons get bonuses for throwing. Check which factions reward you with what, try not to let any of them die off. ||Don't trust his lies||

What's the point of ever actually going outside of Mercury-Mars ring? It takes shitton of time to get anywhere, which in itself is not a problem, but that's a long time during which factions get stronger, and you make no profit, and can only spend producing stuff and what not. Always seems like huge net loss to go anywhere in the belt or to Jupiter and easy way to fall behind the curve that's already very unforgiving.

Some factions like Dilthey, Pirates and the Chinese company added in the new beta only have presence in the outer system, so if you want to work for them you need to travel to the Belt-Jupiter zone

>It's basically just like levels and gear. It lets you take on bigger enemies.
then why not properly balance actual levels and gear to let the players take on bigger enemies in the first place? metaprogression is bad because it nedlessly pads the playtime of the game, wastes the player's actual time, and lets devs get away with not coordinating rng with the game's base progression

the only "upside" is that it offers regular rpg players a different way to grind their way to victory instead of forcing them to consciously master the gameplay to win, which is the whole point of roguelikes

Grind the easy planets (ie, planets without quasimorphs) until you get some good gear and dudes going. Don't allow quasimorphoisis to rise to unmanageable levels, ever. Alcohol and/or morphine is required gear on any planet where it's a possibility. Use the Jackhammer.

>>2051064
There's too much loot to prioritize anything generally except for blueprints and mind chips, and even then I've left some behind to get a really good gun or the last rare material I needed to craft something. I'd prioritize your ship upgrades and get the stuff you need for them, then items that are generally useful (I will almost always take any alcohol or morphine I find unless there's exceptional circumstances), then valuable trade goods, then everything else.
