It wasn't except for units-only missions, which were a save-reload operation.

Z was brutal in comparison, it came out same year or earlier I think.

it actually was. if you were a tank fighting two grenadiers you'd never be able to run them over without dying.

Use APCs to run over infantry since they have higher movement speed.

That's just you getting old and slow (like me). I think other than AI air strike targeting getting buffed (which only affects Nod missions), the game was pretty much as hard as it was before.

Still issue.

This. The missions where you got 2 regular units and had to sneak across a map were such trial by error shit shows.

It's easier because of the gamplay changes like letting you quoue unit production.

it mostly failed because they completely neglected the SP mode, didn't provide any new campaigns or challenges.
On a second thought I have to admit that it was also kind of a bad timing. Only a few years later with all the AI hype they probably would manage to ship a tool with AI generated missions/campaigns which would be awesome.

btw, does anyone which mission this is? ignore the crap at the start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITqaw8eLIDM

I never finished it back in the day, but I was just a clueless kid. I'm replaying Stacraft as an adult and steamrolling the whole thing. I'm not expecting to struggle much with this one

SC1 lets you comfortably turtle up in one base with maybe a single expansion until you amass a fleet of the latest and greatest power unit you've unlocked.
C&C has a lot of trial and error bullshit where you can risk flat out running out of resources and not realize it until about 30 minutes later.

kid me beat C&C Nod campaign four times just to see funny space laser obliterate eifel tower and other targets
Red Alert didn't felt particularly difficult until I got to the covert operations (some of them were pure bullshit)
Ant meme campaign was forgettable

nah, comeon man, you're meming. the penultimate mission in the RA allied campaign (the one where you're in a bunker racing against the clock) was pretty difficult when playing on hard. Probably the hardest in of any campaign missions so far and considering videogames singleplayer campaigns became more and more retard proof, it's probably to date the hardest mission in any official campaign.
