What money making venture should I go to next after chateau de la mort? Is making medical supplies better?
>>2051590Canteens of wisdom, if you have been planting weed, can carry you for a bit, but usually by the time I'm out of apples I switch to chemicals from refinery (or improved hellerium if you have the space for it, bigger profits).
>>2051545 (OP)Is there a mod for XCOM that doesn't have you fighting an alien invasion?
Looking for something different from normal XCOM, bored of chasing ufos and killing greyskins
>>2052108In x-piratez you invade the aliens.
>>2052108X-Piratez. It pretty much turns the concept of original game upside down, with many playable races having night vision advantage over common men, so you'll be the one bullying humans from the shadows. But it's a VERY big mod, especially if you don't really know how to progress, so full playthrough will take hundreds of hours.
>>2052111>>2052117I'm not really that experienced in vanilla OG XCOM to be honest. Played a bit of it and got bored because it was the same game I played so many times before with the modern XCOMs and Xenonauts and all that shit.
Should I play x-piratez anyways? Seems pretty fucking hardcore for what I'm reading.
>>2052120Game's progression is actually pretty comfy, and while it's more challenging than vanilla game, it's also not nearly as punishing as TFTD, nor does it have a ridiculously overtuned aliens like in XCF. Out of all megamods I've played, it's the only one that tries to ease you in and teaches you the ropes as long as you're willing to read.
>>2052120If you know the basics and stick to lower difficulty setting the 2nd one is recommended you should be just fine.
The game is more forgiving in many ways early on you just fight humans with guns that won't one shot you like aliens with plasma. The strategy layer is also more forgiving, as long you don't lose laboratory in your first base it's pretty hard to lose.
Most common way noobs die in piratez is that they either don't invest in researchers called brainers or they sit on one base without expanding your radar coverage. As long you have these two things in mind it is really hard to fuck up a run.
The game's not designed to be some sort of CBT ultra hardcore experience although that's possible on highest difficulty setting, it's more of a sandbox xcom experience if that makes sense there are many paths to victory so don't worry about meta or being optimal just do your own thing and it'll probably work.
>>2052108ROSIGMA, to an extent.
>>2052120Go for it. The learning curve isn't too bad compared to some other mods.
Here's an old guide from several versions ago. Badly out of date, but some of it should still be helpful. https://rentry.co/pdz6icq9
>>2052120I jumped into xpiratez only ever having played nucom and picked it up just fine. Like others said there's a lot of reading to do, but your starting troops (gals) are better than most early enemies in every way so the early game is pretty forgiving.
I also wouldn't worry too much about the branching paths you run into later. The game is EXTREMELY long, you're very likely to get your fun out of it around the time you hit mid game and then play something else for a while, then start a new playthrough later. I'm only just now getting around to finishing a run after having played the game on and off for years

OXC and OXCE are an absolutely ass pain to mod engine level because they insist in using the original methods of data handling instead of doing a proper engine remake. It's super fucking purist and therefore a pain to mod and everyone has more or less burned out
>>2033814>>2033822Really ought to play the smaller mods. Wasn't there a Discord clique releasing a whole series of minimods?

This is a one-time story event, and because I dragged my feet on the whole aurora thing (turns out you need to go to the downed techno missile ships and get a datapad that only spawns sometimes, I was ignoring them forever) I can make this up just by shooting down battleships.
Does anyone knows how to install OXCE on steam so it looks like I'm playing xcom and to have access to the steam overlay? If you can explain it with xpiratez even better.
>>2052164Aliens in ROSIGMA literally don't exist. Everything is about uber mega over super hiper chaos spees muhrenes. There are ork sub factions that will spawn licherally one single time per 100 games before being replaced by more uber super mega chaos dudes.
>>2053127make it opt-in, eazy.
>>2053101you think the problem is just UI level? You literally cannot even change the base gameplay because they use the original fucking data tables.
OXC isn't really a remake, it's more like a frontend wrapper with a bunch of memory editing features dumped in, each more work-heavy than the last. At this point it's literally easier to remake XCOM from scratch than to actually do any engine-level modifications to OXC.
Always trust slavs to make the most mind-blowingly retarded code decisions.

How can you restore freshness during the mission?
>>2054410Cigs and cigars, smoke 'em if you got 'em
If you're having freshness issues outside of edge cases like super long multi-map missions and spamming magic then you might just need to be faster.

>>2054541 said though outside of long missions the answer is usually get a move on. >>2054410Alternative to restoring freshness is using two or three drug dispensors and then your soldier is still good to go even at 0 freshness.

If you bump up the difficulty (Or down, if you're playing above beginner) does it retroactively reenable/disable content?
>>2055815Voodoo and some other stuff, the beginner difficulty is dumb and just shouldn't exist in the first place.

>>2053405Nah a certain amount of purism is good. It helps retain the SOVL.
>>2057220OpenRA has the same SOVL while recreating the engine from scratch, because they simply ripped the graphical assets and reverse engineered the internal logic. There's other reverse engineered game recreations too but I can't remember them RN.
The OXC team refused to do that and forced themselves to adapt the entire wrapper to the archaic C data tables, gimping any future additions to OXC in the process. it's likely because they didn't know how to do it

First actual win. Green codex/cats 4 life. Took my sweet ass time, I know. I wanted to get to the end of the aurora/gundrun/red mage stories (turns out I picked all the unfinished routes, so it wasn't worth it lol).
I wrote a little python script to estimate my playtime based on saved game timestamps, and it comes out to around the 300-350 hour range, give or take. Would have been a decent chunk longer but after I had a craft full of gals in annihilator armor and plasma guns I was just using debug mode to skip missions that were zero risk. Pretty damn fun overall.

>>2059263The problem is that terrain destruction weapons don't count as melee, because you can't use a melee attack if there's not a unit in the target zone.

Not that I can point to any meaningful issues that have happened, I'm just getting into the game. For all I know the system may work well enough with careful commits to upstream.

>>2064884Yeah they're wide and thin because the aspect ratio is wrong. If you run the game like that, square elements in spritesheets are tall oblong rectangles on screen. It's especially noticeable in base screen because it's full of squares with dotted lines. Looked bad even back in the day on CRT.
The original art design was a compromise while mod assets have always been developed pixel perfect without aspect ratio stretching.
You're still free to scale the game to wrong aspect ratio using your monitor or GPU. That never was the game engine's job.

Captured dr. X, but I'm missing the second scented message to prank her. I tried searching the mod forums for answers on how to get it but there was barely anything to find, just a post that maybe it's related to game difficulty and/or codex choice, but then another saying it wasn't.

Slightly unrelated, I tried rerolling events by saving before the end of the previous month, but it seems that doesn't work either. Just how far back are these events decided? It's an intriguing mix of artists, artstyles and a wide variety of sources spanning decades.
Complementing it with ai sloppa is fine, that adds to the mix. But replacing any of it or overusing ai sloppa will ruin the soul.

Is it viable to run a spear and bayonet faction? Knives and pistols allowed for spec ops shit.
>>2074492Depends. Do you count Super Self Charger plasma bayonets?
>>2074496That is definitely a bayonet.
>>2074499Totally viable then. You'd run into damage type issues with some energy shield enemies if you were sticking to strictly physical bayonets/spears, but with the plasma bayonet, you've enough variety to get through probably 99% of Piratez with only a variety of knives onna stick.
>>2074492pikes never stop being useful.
i don't pay much attention to bayonet options but when i have them they do get some occasional use.
Dunno how viable it is to go full for that, but they are certainly not completely unpractical.

>>2074590There has to be a debug function that removes them
>>2074590Can't you go in and destroy them like any other base?
>>2074620I mean, FOR GOOD. You start a war with Deep Ones via pyramid mission, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to end it once and for all, they just keep shitting bases on the map every month.
>>2074626In that sense none of the bases are dealt with "for good" except ninjas, all other factions can just spawn a new base out of nowhere.
>>2074626>detect base>enter base>ctrl+D>Ctrl+K
>>2074626The odds for a T'leth base to be generated seem to even slightly increase after you've cleared your first one (going from 35 per month to 15% + 25%).
That base spawning shit is already aggravating enough from the ninjas, so I'm just avoiding doing the first T'leth mission at this point.

>>2075092I've not messed around with save editing, but if you're able to delete the 'Aquatoids Angered' and 'T'leth Base Defeated' entries (the latter one will only be there if you've defeated a base), I think that should stop new bases spawning once the current month ends.
>>2075396Couldn't find any instances of T'leth bases, but did clear two instances of Aquatoids Angered. Hopefully that works.
>>2075428I didn't even know you could have custom UI graphics like that and the herbalist of all things has it?
What's the difference between these two stats?
>>2075725One pre-damages armor by 5% of attack's full damage before the damage is calculated.
Aka armor damage.
The other ignores 10% of armor.
Aka armor penetration.
>>2075730So armor damage is technically better? I'm guessing not since for example, all chem guns I've tried suck ass. Sure they "damage armor" but you need to land so many shots it's just pointless. Even the ninjas with the chem blunderbusses are a joke, half the time making nothing but loud noises.
Forgot to complain about these fuckers.
Literally these fuckers one shot my corsairs. Even my Fortuna can take more than two shots, shields and all.
>>2075769and this time I forgot my image, nice.
>>2075765I don't know why you even want to equate these two completely different things.
Armor penetration is far more practical and relevant in any playthrough.
Lasers ignore up to 50% armor and you'll be seeing plenty of those.
Large-caliber / high-end rifles also have significant penetration, up to about 30%. Though they're not often used against you. But early/mid game sniper rifles with their penetration, high damage and good damage rolls can help you pinch through superior armor without having to swap to more impractical weapons.
Armor damage is rather niche and such slow attrition mechanics (in any game!) are often weighted against the player because you are expected to survive your battles while the AIs' job is to die.
Most weapons dealing armor pre-dmg deal very little of it, usually one point. Multihitting or burst firing armor melting weapons can be good at deleting armor though you often have better means of dealing with armored enemies. Also the effect is greater on anything that relies more on resistances than armor hit points, like syns.
>>2075776I wouldn't say they're completely different, but you're basically agreeing with me.
And I'm asking because I was trying to decide between two different guns to craft.
>>2075780Yes, I agree with you.
Just wanted to make sure you understand their roles are completely different.
You won't find both on a weapon and chems usually incur over 100% armor effectiveness. Makes their armor stripping even more insidious.
Man, imagine Piratez on a proper engine with voxel environments a-la Teardown.
>>2076049liar, there are at least ten spotted guys left
Are there any hidden piloting bonuses for this outfit, or only the ones stated under armor resistances?
>>2076159I did and couldn't find anything, but maybe I'm just blind.
>>2076131Yeah, you get about 1-2% piloting bonuses to accuracy and dodge. The Ace suit is ~2-3%. Nothing gamebreaking at all, but Dio is removing the bonuses in the next version because 'it was never lore friendly' and something about how it can help you qualify for certain transformations.
Whenever people in the Discord start talking about things they think are cool or that make them feel more powerful, he inevitably nerfs them. Amazing that people aren't learning to keep their mouths shut by now.
>>2076471Also to add to this, the stats under the armour resistances don't affect your piloting at all. No armour stats do (just the special bonus on this suit and the ace one). Your pilots are just as effective in platemail as they are in camo.
>>2076474Well shit, and here I was dressing all my catgirl pilots into Blitz suits.

>>2077235>you only get one per monthYes well it's been like 8 months since i finished my playthrough.
What i remeber is having multiple tokens to redeem for lvl 4 (???) agents that i used every time i lost someone skilled.
Finally completed my first full playthrough, this time even managed to progress with Gudrun and got TO BE CONTINUED in 2 unfinished plotlines. Technically, this is my second playthrough, since my first one ended abruptly at the very end due to a version bug that prevented you from launching the Conqueror to Mars.
Man, what a fantastic mod, and Mars ending missions were a complete KINO, especially the second one. Piratez deserves a better engine to work on, OXC often feels like a crutch the game is forced to walk on.
Lazy/Green, this time around I tried to keep my savescumming to minimum, only protecting ships and reloading and cancelling missions if someone I really valued died with no chance of revival. Kept almost all bases clustered together too, which ended up being a very successful tactic - interceptor base provided an umbrella for all my facilities in case of missile strikes. Only twice or thrice missiles managed to reach the bases, and only once they got through base defenses. Got to Family Ties without a single country dropping out, go figure.
Also, very interesting RNG this time, absolutely no gnomes or cats until the end of second year, only one hero ever came around year 3. But also got lucky enough to get 5 syns in total by the end, skipped 2 space freighters, though, so maybe missed out on getting more.
All the problems I had during all my playthroughs are still present, though. Race/Codex rebalances and minor fixes are great, but Birds are still not viable and base defense research trees are way too complicated and impossible to figure out during a blind playthrough. I don't get why Dio doesn't see that when you shower the player with tons of cool weapons, armors, hostages, the players will research those instead of some shitty 14mm AA gun that bottlenecks the means to protect your base from enemy attacks. Same for flintflock weapons, who would research those when you can research some modern assault rifle you just found? Playing blind is impossible
>>2077828grats, you made it
>>2077828Nice! Did you complete any optional 'side quests', like taking on the ninja HQ, doing the Aurora/Priss stuff, etc?
In terms of research bottlenecks, Dio recently admitted that although he still wants people to play blind, he's stopped designing the research tree to accommodate that because he knows they aren't going to do it anyway. I think the mod's too long and bloated at this point for blind plays to be realistic (particularly if playing Ironman), so he needs to do serious work to demystify the tree if he wants to change that.
How the fuck is this something I'm unlocking on year fucking 3?
This is a joke, that ship fucking sucks. Crap loadout, only 6 crew and speed capped at 1k? When the slowest enemy ship is above 3k? This shit is useless for transport or for air combat.
And it's not only this ship, I'm still stuck on fucking corsairs from year 1 because everything else I've unlocked sucks ass.
>>2078002Dio wanted to make "based retards rediscover civilization by doing all the steps" but it's strange. Player's gals start with ye olde muskets and other pirate gear because that's what they''ve been sold/presented with by their benefactors and traders but then everyone else "on their level" besides Necropirates has 20th century+ tech weapons or better for firearms.
>>2077499>>2077506Where the FUCK is the ?Try Shorter Stacks? route, Dio?
Where's trading the ability to hire hands or recruit castaways/ubers in exchange for being able to convert them directly into gnomes?
Where's the plethora of new Lokk training, codex outfits, and Lokk-exclusive vehicles?
Where's the zany, gimmicky, and ridiculously impractical shadowtech crafts that will almost always result in dead gobbos? For example, a ram ship that provides almost no cover and is lighted up, but creates a large stern-oriented explosion when landing and has aft turrets.
Where's the weird gobbo shamans, demon summoning, and full celestial vs demon war event?
Where's the manufacturing recipe that lets you hire Lokks for cheaper using slaves and mutant porn?
>>2078002Dio will need to go through and adjust all of the Bootypedia entries one by one if he ever wants people to play blind. There needs to be a significant level of hints as to what follow-up research will lead to notable tech, otherwise playing blind amounts to gambling and hoping for the best. There's some of it already, but he should also add many more events that hint at things to aim for if the player hasn't hit key research goals at specific time breakpoints.
>>2078025>>2078027But it's not about me somehow forgetting old research branches. This shit requires the megachaingun research, which in turn requires to have fucking travelled to the dark world or whatever it's called. That shit is locked behind the red witch plot. This is insane. All that research for such a shit machine. There is no universe in which I get all that shit done before this ship isn't outdated crap.
>>2077990Actually, I kinda skipped the Ninja war entirely. I decided to start it it only around the time I started preparing for the Conqueror, and in 3-4 months that took I just had their land crawlers appear couple times, which I destroyed and nothing else ever happened. With Aurora I finished the Winter Palace, but despite getting a log about her Greenland base, all I ever got out of that plotline is getting Berserker virus 5 months in a row.
>>2078035I mean, I view it more as an example of a placeholder for some cool stuff Dio wanted to add that doesn't make much sense in the broader context of all the other stuff you get. Maybe I am wrong, someone relays your complaint, Dio understands how wrong he's been and nerfs every fucking thing before that "Thunderbird" into the ground to make it seem more viable.
>>2078035You can just get the mega chaingun research from a UAC data reel, which I think you can conceivably pick up in late Y1.
Not defending the Thunderbird though, I think it's one of a multitude of pointless earlygame craft/weapons/etc that have been added for either 'lore' reasons or for the illusion of there being more (viable/reasonable) routes of progression than actually exist.
>>2078068Yeah, I went back to check and you're right. Guess I just got super unlucky with the reel research roulette. Still pisses me off. Feels like such a waste of time when I could've been researching actually useful stuff.
how do i make money in x-com files? The only loot I get is human weapons thats worth like 1k and sometimes a briefcase of cash.
>>2078262There isn't any solid way, your funding steadily increases month by month and is the majority of the cash you'll be earning in the game. There are only a handful of manufacturing projects that give any profit at all and even then something like knockout grenades barely cover salaries of engineers.
Just keep playing at some point you'll have more money than you know what to do with but it is tight early on.
>>2078002i think this is one of those things that only make some sense if you went codexless. It's shit compared to all the codex crafts, but it's somthing for you if you are going without them

There is only so much you can add to extend the research tree without just increasing the costs of all early tech, and that would make them out of place compared to costs of later more complex tech.
I guess research could be made more linear by requiring most of old tech researched before moving through school grades, but that would diminish some of what makes Piratez special.

If there's one systemic change Piratez (or openxcom as a whole) needs, it's a complete overhaul of the starcon system.
The current system has to be almost impossible to develop for and maintain in complex mods. Files has a bit better starcon structure, but Piratez has almost as many starcons as missions and you always find some bugs in them.
>>2082982wtf is the starcon system
i have never heard of this before
>>2082877nightblade can already be used on those
>>2082755i can tolerate a lot, but base defenses and old earth metros are my bridges too far
>>2083006he means starting condition, what defines which armors and items are or arent allowed on a mission
>>2082982Fuck no, that'd just encourage Dio to make even more unnecessary restrictions. There's already way too much micromanagement of loadouts and need for hangars than is needed.
>>2083043Different strokes for different folks. I love base defense missions, but skip all underground and shadowrealm missions. For what it's worth, I did play each map exactly one time legit to pay my respects, but I ain't doing them ever again, even in subsequent playthroughs.
>>2083043>defines which armors and items are or arent allowed on a missionMore importantly craft and soldier types. Those are the source worst bugs, up to and including segfaults.
>mission allows 2x2 units>mission has no 2x2 spawn points>segfault on start>mission has n spawnpoints>allows craft with n+1 units>extras are not spawned (and may disappear from your save data)>mission should allow your craft>but the dev missed it when updating>can't play mission at all>armor id is misspelled in starcons>can't use where it should be allowed>can use it where it should be forbiddenEtc.
Every single version I've played has had starcon bugs.
Maintenance burden of the Piratez starcon mess must be insane because any change to armors, craft, soldiers, weapons necessitates checking the tangled mess of the starcons and more often than not, mistakes happen.
Oh and starcons can also allow/forbid other things like item categories. Some starcons that forbid tanks also forbid vehicle ammo, which is retarded, because some handheld weapons use vehicle ammo.
>>2083060Clearly the current shitty system hasn't stopped Dio from doing whatever he wants with it.
I don't mind the gameplay variety (AS LONG AS IT WORKS), that's one of the big appeals of Piratez.
But under the hood the system needs to be more maintainable.
If missions allowed multiple starcons, they could be used like tags and that alone would fix the starcon redundancy and make them easier to maintain.
So for example if Dio adds a new <THING> he doesn't have to update dozens of confusingly named partially redundant starcons and forget about one of them in the process. Just update the one relevant list.
>>2083043>base defensesI feel there is no shame in debugging them, especially if you fight honorably but then one unit is hanging around in the sewers that, well, most units would probably corrode due to mutant shit being down there.
>>2083233The fuck is a starcon?
>>2083358STAR COmmaNd, clearly (noone in the thread has told the correct answer, don't look). The real big boy phase where your boys and girls stop being tyrannized by the gravity and go into SPACE ans NEWTYPES, fighting the spacefarers outside their zone of comfort (bullying the landbound in their lands at their leisure). As the anons say one of the big downsides to the original and the open port is that when you get to this phase the game ends, you don't get new map, new problems and new tricks up yours and enemies' sleeves to solve the conundrum that is SPACE INVADERS. Most I've seen Xpiratez and such do is add other SPECIAL MISSIONS like SYDONIA. But KNIGHTS of SYDONIA is about some kinda generational human colony ship doing big SPACE adventures. >>2084401Just doing anything will train strength to its maximum.
But gnomes have pitifully low max strength. You need something to push it beyond that.
In lategame you get a nice boost from abyssal gnome transformation.
Around midgame, once you have loader suits to actually lift heavy weapons, both cannoneer and reaper become feasible options.
But early on gnome loadouts are heavily limited by what they can carry.
>>2084468>but cannoneer was buffed from +10 to +25woah
>>2084472The bigger buffs are weighted towards higher ranks (1,2,3,4,6,8,10,13,16,25) so you won't get much more on anyone who isn't a dedicated heavy gunner.
>>2084474Yeah but still 10 strength is at 100 kills which is more than reasonable for a vet.
>>2084477Yeah, the stat progression is a bit faster but the bigger difference is that high rank progression is much slower.
Cannoneer used to max out at 250 kills, now it's 600.
Sniper went from 200 to 600, etc.
Basically, many weapon type medals match the length of the game a bit better now and your girls get extra rewards for staying specialized in a role.

>>2086083>>2086082yea fair enough, also good to know considering it just popped up for me
>>2086079>trying to keep the ammo depot intact in guns of the patriotsIs it even possible? Someone will inevitably panic and shoot the missiles, and you can't clear the building without having a stray shot hitting the missiles.
>>2086112>Is it even possible? The best strategy I came up with is landing at night, stunning people until you get to the warehouse with missiles and then park multiple high mobility flying units right outside the doors. >>2086079After doing it a few times I've decided I want to blow it up intentionally for the commendations. If you blow it up you'll get like 40 kills which is a huge boost for the soldier who starts the explosion. The explosion itself also counts as "master of collateral damage". If you don't do it yourself then 90% of the time the AI will and you get nothing out of it.
>>2084382The way to solve this problem is to realize that pistols are some of the strongest weapons for most of the game.
>>2087043Sure, there are some really good light weapons for gnomes.
Wild gnomes are just obscenely powerful with anything that scales off THR^2.
But still, you want to carry more stuff than just a weapon.
And then there's cases like reticulan vats.
What's a good pace to be for reaching the end game? Almost done with year 3 and I just started researching the cydonia codes, as well as just started the research for the mars transport. I would be far more ahead but the school graduation tech rused me hard due to it requiring both mainframe and analytics, and I didn't build a VIP room on my starter base until I realized this. If I hadn't actually bothered to go through the tech tree I would've never realized I had unlocked it ages ago, but didn't have it available for research on any base because of it.
>>2087328That seems like a normal pace.
You might think missing a major research slows you down significantly, but it doesn't. As long as you are researching something you are always making progress at the same rate.
It'll probably take you only a couple more years to build the mars transport.
And you probably have unresolved questlines left to keep you entertained in the meantime.

>>2087435It's possible. You might suffer quite a bit but the mod's game design is robust enough to enable iron man playthroughs.
is there any program that converts the raw weapon data into a spreadsheed i can do funny calculations with? >>2087681I made a python script to do it but I don't think I have it around anymore. It wouldn't be too hard to accomplish if you can program, the mod files are plain text and easy to parse
If you want a simpler way to compare weapons you can use this page: https://mk-fg.github.io/games/openxcom/piratez-melee-calc.html

>>2087888Hm. Now that I looked at the fluff text, the route you took wasn't very clearly explained.
The normal route is researching analytics room instead of VIP club. If you had gone for that, it would have clearly indicated that it is a necessary facility for school graduation.
Only dumbass captains have the VIP club option.
Well, at least you got to experience a genuine dumbass moment.
And the fluff text of back to shool gives you a vague list of subjects to research for school graduation. I guess completing those got you curious at some point and you peeked at the tech tree.
By the way, the next level of schooling (higher studies) will have even higher special facility requirements. FYI just in case.

>>2088745What do you need tankiness for when you're invisible and can touch the whole battlescape from the sky?
Besides, shadow is arguably more survivable than skullstrider. Insane reactions, far better resistances, much harder to see, smaller target and much more mobile.
What is considered sufficient early game speed to not get fucked by alien invasion in files? I'm on july -98, all four cults eliminated and I've got promotion III. I just unlocked migs as my first fighter crafts but I assume they're utter dogshit against ufos. For battlescape I have all MAGMA and VAST guns available, and some fancy ion stuff from from sciency guys whose name I don't remember and I also just got heavy tactical suit as armor. And whoever said money is no problem in files was bullshiting me, every dollar goes towards new science facilities and scientists and all my income is basically 1:1 tied to scientist upkeep.
>>2088799>I'm on july -98, all four cults eliminated and I've got promotion IIIYou're A ok then.
>And whoever said money is no problem in files was bullshiting meMoney is a big problem early game but later on you will get so much money it's unspendable.
>>2088799>all four cults eliminated and I've got promotion III.That's enough.
convince me to not play ?accept the power? and ?gals are superior? every time. What benefit is there to cucking yourself with the other routes?
>>2088816It's not hard to get gals in other routes and you also get other shit that gal route don't have. In exchange you get what? Some outfits for peasants?
>>2088816I go codexless + male route or gray+male, private hospital+no govt crackdowns is comfy and slave soldiers have gotten buffed constantly
>>2088817The only reason for me to pick gals are superior is that flying peasant outfit with greater telekinesis, not gals themselves. It's just way too convenient to delete buildings without evaporating all the loot.
>>2088816Peasant revolution is so good with so many benefits to it I have a similar problem, NOT playing with peasants feels like some sort of handicap they just solve so many of the game problems.
But the real answer should be just variety, just know what you're signing up for. From my experience it goes like this
Gals are superior <- the baseline experience
Male touch <- hard mode with no benefits
Peasant Revolution < likely the optimal path
Cats 4 life <- good but expensive
life is hybrid <- i dunno didn't play yet but doesn't seem great unless you're into lategame hero units
>god tier
syn > chort > doll
>top personality tier
gnome > gal > lokk
>mid tier
peasant > hero > destroid > xenforcer > ogre > catgirl
>boring bottom tier
shade > dog > ss > bugeye
>>2088693lokks have a big dead space between rider and shadow/skullstrider, but theyre overall in a pretty good place now.
>>2087435Very much so. On Jack Sparrow, no.
>>2088830Disciples of Twilight say otherwise.
>>2088816>accept the powerNot doing so is literally easymode. You get an immediate brainer in jan from selling the drill and hull. You get like 1.6M worth of brainers from making them out of gnomes you get in february. You get an amazing early game craft that lets you easily hide and do missions with 11 people instead of 6. Every codex only starts getting benefits like 6 months in. With all the money you've saved and extra research you have you're way ahead by then
>gals are superiorYou can produce gals from castaways, young ubers, and raiders. It's honestly more than enough as long as you're not suffering too many deaths. In my gals are superior run I've probably converted like 50 young ubers into courtesans because I don't need more soldiers. You've also got glamour you can hire with. If you're glamour-maxxing (easy if you've got a big peasant/male touch craft and just bring 20 people with glamour clothing on to simple missions), you effectively generate ubers with the extra +2 stats commendation.
>>2088838Avenger is really good in between, though you have to get them from random cave missions. Also that's around the point where tanks and bombards come into play.
Good gun to arm my syns with? I made them python sniper rifles, and they do ok with it, but I can't really stand only being able to fire once per turn, and I feel making them snipe is not playing to their strengths. I'm considering bossguns now that I unlocked HVAP rounds, or maybe vulcan miniguns?
I just like to reject the power because it's thematically pleasing. A true pirate doesn't answer to some higher power, that's just some rinkydink privateer.
>>2088889I like utilizing their high str by giving them big guns.
>>2088889I like giving them OGRE shotguns in base defense missions against demons.
What's the ideal interceptor for early game XPZ?
Heard the little chopper got nerfed recently, so I'm not sure what to aim for.
>>2088947ideal is anything you can get to shoot down anything the fastest. this is usually still the little bird, but basically as soon as you have literally anything that can shoot down those slow ass bandit trucks, then you start being able to farm for score outside of proper missions, not to mention bandit gear, which can be a level up for you before you research contacts
>>2088970I should clarify by, "the fastest", I mean the earliest.

>>2088868Reject would be 10/10 if not for the shadowtech gamble and crowning being locked behind primal hunts

>>2088988Maybe it's just me but I think the easy guaranteed access to sci books (that isn't mutant alliance, fuck them) plus the infusion of gnomes and cash from selling the drill and such is the better deal in exchange for harder access to lategame tech. Because while failing to access sci books at a good pace can hurt you a lot when the mid-tier enemies start appearing in force before you're ready, you will already sort of have legs by the time you need to research shadowtech or crowning. And you can still somewhat use mid-tier weapons to take out high-tier enemies with some luck and skill.

Are there any good underwater weapons between spears/javelins and XG guns? Feels like there's a huge tech gap, although pointy sticks are always great.
>>2089131Coral crossbows.
>>2089132Are they really any good? I guess they could be a viable early-game alternative if you're using peasant divers instead of gals.
Javelins and spears used to be the king of underwater missions, you never really needed anything else. Easy to use from the start and keep getting better with your soldiers' stats.
But the new t'leth missions changed that and got me thinking of good midgame underwater weapons, before getting lategame gear like XG weapons. The harpoon guns kinda suck. Maybe ramses guns from cleo or deepminer gnome cannons. Syns absolutely destroy xarquids in melee but they would be risky to use in presence of aquamen without lategame armor to counter their electricity vulnerability.
>>2089131Air musket/heavy slugthrower, followed by the auto harpoon gun and sonic weapons once you can use them
>>2089059Yeah, Sci books are a roadblock that no amount of skill can get past for codex games. Meanwhile codexless just has to leverage their massive economic and research advantage to get a bigger economic and research advantage, which getting Sci books earlier also helps with, then run up to 100 brainers across 8 bases and just churn through the entire research tree in record time.
When it comes to the airgame you can basically survive on Jetbikes forever only needing to shoot down the more dangerous craft that jetbikes can't handle once or twice each for research purposes. So the only real downside is the lack of a menace ship acting as a fast and convenient transport around months 8 to 16 or so since equivalents take a while to develop. Though Airtruck is always really good, but it's a bit low on troop count.
>>2089193>>2089131Shredder has absolutely broken damage and accuracy and the range is only slightly less than what your vision is underwater. It'll also cut through lobstermen like a knife through butter.

>>2089202Pic related
Gaze upon the face of your (underwater) destroyer. The only annoying downside is that you can't react with shredder so you can't lazily spam end turn while till enemies die. Still works just fine as a weapon with other armors (for gals you're best off with Blitz underwater once you get it for the midgame), you just aren't completely fucking invincible to every underwater enemy.
I didn't know you can reach gal level melee damage in files lmao.
>>2089284Ancient Katana is insanely good.

Any good ways to train bravery in files? In piratez I usually just load their pockets full of demon skulls and let them piss their pants in a closet while rest of the team cleans the map.
>>2089610The best way I found is to intentionally leave the hybrid bases intact and just send four interceptors near it every week or so, each time you shoot down an enemy ufo there's like 10% chance to gain 10 bravery and since these bases would send like 8 interceptors at once you're almost guaranteed at least some level ups.
That's a late game tactic but early on messing with bravery is probably not even worth it, if you have someone real good just assign them to medic duty.
>>2089617Way too early for fighter pilot training regime lol. I'm still pre-invasion. I regret killing all four cults, could've atleast had a humvee shooting their cars they shit out of their manors.
>>2089381It still can since it goes by square of bravery and there's way more commendations for bravery in XCF compared to XPZ. My 180 bravery XCF soldier has 0-304 damage on tritanium kukri. In theory your bravery is pretty much unlimited since master of x applies +10 bravery at level 10, just need to spend a few IRL days farming cult mansions.
>>2089844>In theory your bravery is pretty much unlimited since master of x applies +10 bravery at level 10In theory. Not in reality.
Medals don't stack like that.
Only one instance of each level will apply.
>>2089967That's... a strange decision
So if I have master of weapon X and master of weapon IX, and I get enough kills to upgrade to a second master of weapon X, I actually just lose all of those stats and get nothing?
>>2090064Correct. That's the reason why your veteran units sometimes lose stats when leveling bane/scourge/weapon master medals. Look up the medals of any veteran unit from any mod. They won't have duplicate weapon master medal ranks.
>a strange decisionThat's just how the medal system works, not something mod authors decided.
Pretty sure it was never intended for duplicated medals like a billion Master of the <weapon> or Bane of <faction>.

>>2090068>Look up the medals of any veteran unit from any mod. They won't have duplicate weapon master medal ranks.I should clarify that.
The *medals* do show up, you can check them under diary->awards.
BUT you don't get stats from duplicate medal ranks. You can check the stats from under soldier bonuses. (the + sign next to diary)
See pic for example.
Man, can you imagine how broken megamods would be if you could get duplicate weapon masteries?
>keep grinding different weapons to rank 1
>only 10/15 kills per weapon (piratez/files)
>do literal tons of damage with THR^2 weapons
>no upper bound in sight
>>2090089It'd be way too much grinding. You can already grind like 10 different weapon type masteries in these mods and it takes like 400 kills each.
I have grinded specific soldiers on XCF cult mansions and it gets incredibly tedious fast.

>>2090428If you absolutely must *shoot bullets* at their *front armor* then a proper sniper rifle should do the trick. Give it to your best shooter. Look for rifles that increase power with firing skill and ammo with under 100% armor effectiveness. The first one you typically get is just named "Sniper Rifle". Stuff like Hunting Rifle is no good.
>>2090428throwing weapons, but grenades and flamers are more reliable
>>2090441proper sniper rifles are only good if you have enough firing for it to scale, early game and on first hideout defense i doubt anyone gets any advantage out of that. Hell, that anon might have not even seen a sniper rifle yet.
A good early game answer for any armor is to run straight at them with an axe. Even from the front it's unlikely they survive a hit with that.
>>2090438You probably want to just place a Hellerium plant in every base.
>>2090428throwing axes totally wreck them but if you're in pinch something like combat shotgun auto to the back can work too
XPZ = CBT
I love it though.
>>2090658Throwing buckshot at an enemy with syn-tier pierce resistance is just about the worst option.
>>2090709This just shows your misunderstanding how the combat works in this game. Because shotguns have so many pellets and most damage rolls 0-200% you can reliably count on shotguns hitting max roll with at least some of the pellets.
Given example of combat shotgun auto to the back of stormrat goes like this.
Combat shotgun max roll damage is 44, modified by 65% piercing resistance is 28.6 damage, I think game rounds down numbers so it's 28.
Stormrat has 15 back armor and 26 health which means that two max rolled pellets would kill it, even one would put a bleeding wound to kill it down the line. It's not an unreasonable chance to go max or near max roll when you roll the dice 15 times in an auto.
Of course there are better tools for the job than a shotgun but stormrats are early game enemy at point where shotguns are best early game weapons most of the time.
>>2090718You're wrong, I even quickly doublechecked the numbers before commenting. It's got barely enough damage to go through the rear armor on good rolls but very few pellets in exchange.
I see it as this way--You're using the worst possible gun archetype for the job and relying on bruteforcing your way through with superior tech level and spamming hits. You could've at least said to use incendiary shells, but no.
Not to mention your math is wrong. Unsurprisingly in favor of your argument.
Feel free to be retarded but passing this kind of idiocy down to new players irks me.

>>2090729It gives them martial arts too, which while normally shit on slave soldiers is pretty good from all the new transformations they get
>>2090735Rushing car thieves is always a smart decision, the blowfish is such a massive improvement over expeditions when it comes to getting to underwater missions and that aircar will quickly pay for itself even against civilian aircraft
>>2090737Aw sorry dude you're making me feel bad.
No, I meant you were wrong about me misunderstanding it. Sorry for being too hard to understand, I thought the subordinate clause was enough to make the context connection.

It would also help to learn to leave the ego at the doorstep in anonymous discussions. Despite countless newfags thinking otherwise, this place isn't about egos but ideas.
And I don't see any arguments for the idea. You already said there obviously are better tools than shotguns and more or less conceded that the reason to use combat shotgun is being too lazy to swap. We agree on that.

Easier to just fence them off if you have more important work lined up for your runts.
But is breaking them is cheaper and Piratez manufacturing often comes with random production. Do you like gambling? There's a chance to find valuables like gemstones in them.
>>2091096I calculated the expected RoI of breaking the rocks and selling them, vs. making X-Grog and using the profits to sell the rocks. Breaking the rocks does slightly better, and there's a small chance of getting something that is worth more to keep than to sell (not the gemstones, but the ol'coins and boxes)
>>2091306>I calculated the expected RoI of breaking the rocks and selling themTo clarify I meant breaking the rocks and selling the average result of what you get.
>>2091306For which difficulty?
Man, fuck this mission. I didn't even get any new loot when I cleared it.
I hate how the only armor I can bring is glitterbras or w/e they're called, but the game hasn't given me a single fucking glitterdust to craft them with. And the only gun I can bring, that arcane minigun, deals mind damage and all these fuckers have insane armor and 20% mind resist. I basically have to CQC the start of every map to loot gear. It was fun on the earlier maps, but by now I feel the game expects me to be fielding real gear I just don't have.
>>2091453>glitterdustYou get that from raiding black sun outposts, if you didn't go that gudrun route then you're kinda out of luck
>>2091491I pranked her. I did some black sun stage where I found a mage and a bunch of black knights, but it hasn't spawned again since and that was like 6 months ago. That's so fucking stupid either way.

>>2091494>I did some black sun stage where I found a mage and a bunch of black knightsWas that mission a two parter? The first part has you running through turrets to the other side of the map and the second is the thing you describe.
That wasn't a Black Sun mission, that was Gudrun's mansion
>>2091501Oh you're right.
That first part sucked ass too. I love spawning in the line of sight of turrets that can shoot me from beyond the actual map draw distance.
>>2091502>turrets that can shoot me from beyond the actual map draw distanceSniper/spotter mechanics are a bitch.
>>2091390The sell modifier applies to both so its basically the same at all of them.
>>2091453>by now I feel the game expects me to be fielding real gear I just don't have. Not really, at least not armor. You only get shadow pirate and nightsprite armors later from exploring SRL. You can also wear nightgowns in SRL but it's kind of a specialist armor. With love magic you could make magical girl outfits, but honestly it's better to use magical girls for churning out magical cakes. Chaos saints also have saint armor.
Glitterdust bikinis aren't worth it, gnomes are insanely good in SRL even without armor. If you fought moon nazis to a point where you can farm glitterdust, it is better used for a certain moon nazi transformation. Or I guess you could bring an army of glitterpeasants to SRL.
Lokks can use avenger with shield. They're pretty good in SRL with it, bad otherwise.
SS can use misfortune armor but they are trash in SRL. Heroes can wear blood dragon which is great.
Chorts are as overpowered in SRL as elsewhere.
Bugeyes suck, they lose their mind control powers.
But all in all, the main benefit of SRL armor is inventory slots. But at this point you probably don't have much else than magical cakes to stuff in your pockets. Later on you get water of life in abundance, which is even better than magical cakes.
Weapons though, there are some other things than arcane autoguns that you could already have.
But the thing is, the best SRL weapons are too expensive to mass produce (orbs) so your squad will be limited to improvising and using less than ideal weapons for a good while.
Hellgun is the absolute best. The new Regicide is really good if your codex has it. Arcane autoguns are also really good, super accurate across the entire map without direct vision. Many SRL enemies are weak to mind damage and even the resistant ones usually fall to one burst with good v.power, so give em to gnomes. Magic hammers are great if a bit shorter range.
Tomes of lightning are pretty good in that they don't require orbs. Available to codexes wih destruction voodoo.
>>2091502Yeah, thankfully you can cheese the first part by digging through one side of the valley and just follow the tunnel until you get to the elevator and dig your way out. No annoying field guns or tanks to deal with
>>2091660Dudr, all wraiths have take only %20 mind damage. My mage has 90 vpow and 90 vskill, and two full turns dumping quickbursts on a single enemy wasn't enough to drop a single wraith guard. I checked tomes of lightning and they did not say "shadowlands" so I figured I couldn't bring them. Didn't really try though. Didn't think of crafting a magic hammer, should do so. Hellguns IIRC are red codex only, but I picked grey. I brought some herders staffs and a heartgrip, but i consistently failed to mind control anything, and the heartgrip has a pretty big freshness cost.
Is there any way to get cakes besides using lost souls? I haven't seen a single magical girl ever.
>>2091746I just loaded my save, fielded a lot of rocket launchers, then just savescummed until I managed to hit them all from the spawn point by firing blindly into the void. I figured it's not cheating if they can do it too.
>>2091775Hellguns are not restricted, but you need tome of chaos to make them.
>>2091775Wraiths are realm of fear, I was talking overall SRL effectiveness.
>all wraiths have take only %20 mind damage. Not quite. It's 50% for wraiths, 35% for wraith guards and 25% for wraith elites.
90 is not that high vpower, give your autoguns to gnomes. And, obviously, engage the blue armored wraiths with better options whenever you can. The wraith blades and crossbows are decent against wraiths. You'll also find some more permanent melee weapons in the realms of fear IIRC.
Any codex can make hellguns, wait a sec an I'll compile a list.
Shadow orb weapon manufacturing:
>Shadow Orb of Blood
Hellgun
Hellfist
Staff of Explosion (red/gold)
Mega Ax (gold)
>Shadow Orb of Alacrity
Magic Hammer
Universal Refresher
Cupid Gun (green/gold)
>Shadow Orb of Ethyr
FND
Bane Blade (red)
Regicide (grey/red)
Thunderstriker (gray)
Phantom Whip (gray/gold)
>Shadow Orb of Mind
Meridian Autogun
Heartgrip Staff
>Shadow Orb of Stasis
Ice Rose
Horn of Jericho (gold)
Non-orb stuff includes gray spellbook (gray) but the spell selection is what it is, hellblade (gray/red) and probably something I'm forgetting right now.
There are also many looted weapons that can exist in and out of shadowrealms, like shadowforge plasmagun, impaler, cursed weapons, memorial weapons, couple of seemingly mundane melee weapons and a bunch of weird grenades. Gudrun/red mage aux stuff as well.
You probably haven't seen shadowforge weapons yet if you haven't seen magical girls. I think the conditions for triggering pink ships and dread fighters are similar.
>>2091802Well all I've seen is fear stuff. Waraiths and now dreadknights in
>>2091453 that mission. Arcane minigun didn't hell me for shit. I also brought a lot of hammers and maces of my own but it seems I van't take them into the shadowrealm, just find them inside it. Crossbows, skull shields and the shiny swords I don't get bring back, so I need to loot them again each mission. I do have some cursed guns but I've spent most of them already. Can't really craft them to replenish them, either.
For what you're saying, it seems I've somehow missed a lot of shadowrealm content, yet I've tried my best to keep up to date with it's research.
Again, it feels like I could just finish the conqueror stuff at any moment before I get to dig deeper into this, even though I tried real hard to focus on magic this playthrough. Never been this far into the game, either. I dunno, feels like bad game design.
And for the record, and on the second to last update, since it dropped recently and I was already way too deep on my current savefile. Didn't want to mess around with manual editing to update it.
>>2091848I should correct myself, I mean the meridian autogun. I just don't know the name of it by memory. I also have ice roses, heartgrip staffs and magic hammers available from that list you posted, but no hell anything. In fact, I don't remember even seeing a shadoworb of blood, now that I think about it.
And it was mention 90 vpow isn't a lot, but that's literally what all my gnomes have. Unless there's a way to train that beyond commendations that I've somehow missed, I feel that's as good as it gets.
>>2091848>brought a lot of hammers and maces of my ownHuge cleavers and giant รถxes can transfer through tannhauser gates, but IIRC you'll only find them inside.
>I've somehow missed a lot of shadowrealm contentNo no, it's got a fairly linear progression and you still have more to experience.
>feels like I could just finish the conqueror stuff at any moment before I get to dig deeper into thisCould you? Why don't you?
But, there's an alternative to the conqueror and many of the (still WIP) questlines deeper in the shadowrealms.
And FYI you don't need to do any manual save editing to update. That hasn't been the case in a long time. Just download new version and copy your old saves to it. By the time next month begins, everything's updated to the new version.
>>2091854>don't remember even seeing a shadoworb of bloodI think all shadow orbs are roughly equally rare but completely random so YMMV. And low in numbers, at least until you can start spamming demon skull offerings.
>90 vpow isn't a lotIt's good for a dreamwalking weirdgal but gnomes can go far beyond that in shadowrealms. They start at 80-90, get +20 just from dreamwalker (glittergnome is only +5) and of course there's the usual bonuses from commendations+transformations.
Shadowrealms don't play by normal rules, you aren't exactly naked and different races get different stats. The default SRL "armor" for everyone is called dreamwalker, look them up in your bootypedia.
>>2091861Huge cleavers have awful accuracy, giant ox as well, even if it's somewhat better. At 25tu a swing, it's really bad when you miss too.

Is it possible to grab an aquatoid and an artificial womb without successfully completing the T'leth Dream Relay mission? It'd be nice to avoid starting off all that base spawning nonsense, but it'd only work if artificial wombs actually spawn on the map and can be picked up.
>>2092108C'mon surely it can't be that bad. There are only 13 billion of those fish fuckers.
>>2091887I don't know what those are.
>>2092122Muscle mages? Gray spellbook? The first magic thing gray codex gets? Picrelated.
It's one of the most unique magic items in Piratez, a spellbook full of very unusual support spells that gain power from the caster's strength instead of just voodoo.
Make sure to read the spell descriptions in your bootypedia.
>>2092147Oh, the spell book. I honestly didn't remember it was called that.
I crafted one when I first got the tech. I remember not being impressed, then I didn't bother with it further since crafting the ammo took so long. Guess I could give it another go. What's some good spells to load it with?
>>2092147>Make sure to read your bootypediaYou lost me there.
>>2092170Shades of Verdun is really good, as is Hellgate, but the huge TU cost and limited shots limits the latter a bit. The anti-zombie one has its uses, and mind knives is useful in the Shadowrealm. That's about it in terms of what's actually useful
>>2092213Circuit Breaker is also great. Deletes any robot including Aurora's prissy bullshit and sectopods.
Embers of Pyrome is a good tool for night illumination.
All the spells have their niches, except maybe shieldbuster. Hard to find a situation where you could justify taking it over circuit breaker.
>>2092147the fuck is this bros
Muscle mages are the best.
Gals are too dumb to cast complex spells right, but smart enough to know they're going to fail... and use their fuckups to wreak havoc.
>>2092251Can this oneshot marsec dudes?
>>2092296Absolutely, warp damage is devastating on heavy armor and hellgate is potentially the strongest single target warp attack.
But hellgate is unpredictable like it says. It's got random health damage multiplier. Basically you haven't a fucking clue what it's actually going to do even if you look at the damage tooltip.
>>2092296Yes, warp does absurd damage to anything armored (exception being black sun troopers and black knights as they have warp attentuation), it's why chorts are such killing machines
>>2092251>bypasses armorBut does it bypass shields? I wish you could make your own warp rifles
>>2092359Warp only bypasses red shields.
>>2092340Blacksun niggas aren't warp resistant, just slightly less vulnerable. Even warpsoldiers and the glitterhitler ghosts die to warp just fine.
Demons and shadowrealm creatures are just about the only things that warp doesn't obliterate.
>>2092730that's what warp damage does to marsec heavies
>>2092702>outright vaporized a fewNoooo the power armor parts!
>>2092702I was under the impression iron wind was single target.
>>2092862Well it is. If your target is a craft. Or a building.
>>2092862Nope, it's like tk projector or mage hand from that peasant outfit, except it projects death.
Can someone explain the spotter/sniper mechanic?
I'm getting my shit ruined at night.
>>2092888If a spotter enemy sees your unit, all sniper enemies can shoot at her for x turns without personal LoS. Similar to how you can snipe at unseen faraway units if you send out a scout to spot them.
Spotter rank determines how many turns seen units stay spotted.
Sniper rank determines the chance of taking a shot at a spotted target.
>>2092893Shit. Do spotters have a vision radius, or do they automatically see a unit that shoots no matter where it is?
>>2092898They have normal vision that's subject to all the day/night/camo/anticamo/invis/etc mechanics, but they spot units that shoot at them. Unless the shot kills them.
>>2092902>they spot units that shoot at themKey word: shoot.
Meleeing them from behind or grenading their ass should be fine.
Man, I feel I shouldn't complain about this, but I really wish it had been a different weapon.
Ok, apparently you can't delete posts anymore? Either way, I obviously posted in the wrong thread.
>you should have seven 420blazeit outposts by the end of year one
wtf how
>>2093357by doing all the missions and selling everything that isnt needed here and now
jk anon you dont need 7 420blazeit outposts by the end of year one in piratez or whatever other mod youre playing its probably not that different
>>2093357Radar coverage is a bit of a snowballing effect, the more things you see the more likely you can shoot down something or go to a landing. That money adds up quickly
>>2093357The first moneymaker hideout quickly pays for the second and it snowballs from there.
PS. I just do normal plantations and never bother microing harvests.
>>2092973It's gone now, the deletion got processed several hours later.
Just a wee bit of lag.
holy shit what the fuck is marsec
i'm not even halfway through the first year and just got my ass turned inside out
>>2093693You'll learn more about the factions over time.
But piratez is not like xcom in the sense that the game progression is about keeping up with an alien invasion. Earth already lost that battle 600 years ago.
You can and will encounter many foes way too powerful for you to handle on your way to becoming more powerful.
Until then, you can deal with anything by utilizing this one simple trick.
It's been over 2 weeks and no hotfixes. Did anyone upgrade? Is it bugfree?
I think I'll go grey chaos saint ayy lmao route this time for shits and giggles.
>>2093805So far I've seen only one bug in a disassembly recipe for one of the new items.
If you start a new game now you won't get to that point before N15.
>>2093693>i'm not even halfway through the first year and just got my ass turned inside outIf x-piratez had a physical copy I'd put that quote on the front of the cover art.
I like how now the game tell you straight up when craft has not enough fuel to go somewhere. Great idea.

Guild is on constant "secret base" flights around my main base. I assume they're building an HQ nearby, but what exactly can I do with that information?
>>2094325probably too early for you to raid one of the big ships for a vip, but at least youll know where the base is for later
>>2094337>at least youll know where the base is for later>for laterUhhh...how much later?
>>2094361realistically, you arent assaulting a faction base until plate or guardian armor. anything less means massive losses or massive savescumming
>>2094362You can do guild bases if you got rocket launchers
>>2094362>>2094365I can delay until I have a convoy and rockets, but won't their radar coverage just get bigger and bigger?
>>2094372no. faction bases do not upgrade
Is there a hangar mod for Piratez yet?
I'm this close to giving up and doing one myself by shamelessly copying the files mod.
I just want 1x1 garages for ground vehicles and 1x1 hangars for small craft like rail pods
What is the point of reject the power thematically when you already got a way bigger demon god handout at the very beginning of the game?
>thanks for literally setting up my entire enterprise, but now I'll reject your minor gifts and pretend to be independent
It's like looking into the mind of the worst kind of rich kid. Dioxine should make half the game be just getting to the starting point of xpiratez if he really wants us to feel like strong independent earth beings who don't need no demon gods.
>>2094365I'd say lasers are the must have.
>>2094365>>2094712What's in guild bases, anyways? Defender-wise.
>>2094698Reject the power might as well be chaos undivided, you're not beholden to any of the demon gods specifically but they still heavily influence things (the captain is still owned by purple bloom)
>>2094718Hardest things are the tanks and the guild master. Guild master is weak to charm and mind tho
>>2094759>tanksAh yes, of course.
I was just guessing it's gotta be easier than most faction bases since guild doesn't have any high-end goons that aren't either space operators or marsec.
>>2092888Fun fact: X-PirateZ stealth armors (Holosuit, Unipuma, Nightblade) have a spotted indicator. The nightblade cloak starts pulsing and the blue lights on holosuit/unipuma turn red while their wearer is spotted.
>>2092888>>2094809it is frustrating that camo/nv/spotting mechanics are so vague and fuzzy
>can they see you?>can you see them?>you'll know the answer when one of you is dead
>>2094608Line 1338 in current Piratez.rul, edit crafts: 1 or something higher.
Personally I play the first year of Piratez legit and then after that I activate my own custom mod that removes/cuts down a lot of bullshit like this for the rest of the playthrough.
>>2094829IMO its fine in Piratez because by the late game where you have a lot of it you're also super tanky super soldiers who can blitz entire maps in a few turns. And for the random small fuckups you can potentially revive soldiers from stasis pods. In the early game most fights with sniper/spotter only have a handful of enemies with it.
Where it becomes a problem is in XCF where you have to deal with huge maps of 80+ soldiers all of them spotters and half of them snipers and you only have 8-14 normal x-com dudes who can go down in one shot and you have to play carefully with. The snipers also have way too many grenades and grenade launchers that can hit you even if you're behind cover.
>>2094889I already have my own custom hangar mod.
I just wish someone did a proper one for Piratez. Different hangar types, new base maps for dfiferent hangars, base sprites, fluff text, researches, everything.
I'm close to doing it myself but so far I've been too lazy to get into OXCE mapping and BOXCE modding for hangar type support.
>>2094829It's a bad mechanic that creates bigger problems than the issue it's apparently meant to solve (that players can utilise darkness better than the AI can).
>almost 2 weeks with zero shipping activity
I'm scared.

Dio needs to tweak the chances of repeatable shadowland missions.
I'm dead tired of dead dewers. And still missing a ton of chrono prisms.
