Which Tropico is best? I've played 3 and 5 only.

Either 4, which is essentially 3 with more gameplay, or 2 if you're into the idea of building a pirate island and being a pirate king.

4 definitely. While it is very similar to 3, it has a full fledged story mode/campaign which is really well written and fun. It's like 5's except the structure is much better and you build a new island each mission which keeps you playing the fun initial part of the game.

1 is the best, two has the best soundtrack, 3 has the best radios, 4 is better 3 but too much modern shit, 5 is weird and you either love it or hate it and 6 is 4.2 with some very questionable mechanics and (even more) forced memes.

I agree that 4 is an improvement over 3 but I kinda think that 4 graphics is a downgrade to 3.

Speaking of Tropico, how the fuck do I get a stable economy on 6? I tried to use same tactics from the previous three titles (creating mines and farms with raw export goods for early game funding before building factories) but my earning is always on negative

I like all of the dlcs but they're all overpriced. Llama is required for unlocking the full market gameplay. If you want to make the game harder pirate going viral or lobbyistico are it. Otherwise the 2 latest dlcs are just good and add a lot of new mechanics that integrate well into the base game. The rest are one-off gimmicks and a bunch of buildings.

I played hundreds, maybe even thousands, of hours in both 4 and 5, but I still struggle to achieve a working and consistent ecomomy in 6.
I don't know what I do wrong, I already know that workers should have houses, services and food as close to their workplaces as possible, free public transportation and all that stuff.

4 is literally fully patched 3 with bunch of QoL improvements.
Original with pathfinding mod is also good. You see, the reason why the game was "hard" wasn't actual difficulty, it came right down from absolutely fucking dogshit pathfinding of your citizens, who can't pick the best routes, because the code is half-finished

First you should visit the nearest medical facility and ask for a full CAT and MRE scan. This level of incompetence is likely indicative of severe brain damage. You can sustain your entire economy with goddamn car toll gates or jails if nothing else. Literally everything prints money even on "hard" economy you dumbass.

Agriculture isn't profitable in T6, mostly due to soil erosion effects. Have some plantations to diversify your economy/food availablity, but you want raw resources: Logging/Timber/boats
>all available by World Wars
>employs uneducated/high school in factory (only a handfull, can import if needed)
>doesn't require power
>relatively low polluting, wont offend hippies in cold war as much as mining
>trees regrow as long as you keep enough space between camps/buy the replanting upgrades/stay on the default workmode, meaning your only limit is land
>can branch off into furniture, or use aluminum inputs as well
It's only complication is that it's a 3 step production line and you need water access to build the factory, but, if you get 3 of them with the half-cost Industiralization edict, they'll pay for themselves within 3 years

Going Viral makes it impossible to play a comfy long Colonial era game, since you can't get rid of the virus and will eventually hit a malthusian limit of teamsters being too sick to transport anything

That's garbage. You don't have to run with the mode that kills fertility and depending on the map you can make a shit ton of money from cashcrops either raw with a good trade deal or with their refinement like rum, cigars or cans. As long as you make gorillion + 1 teamster to handle the output that is.

It is hated for being bad, not different.
It's 20 years and I still have love-hate relationship with that game. I absolutely love its concept and certain mechanics. I absolutely hate how the game actually plays, what sort of retarded logic is behind most of its mechanics, how said mechanics work in practice and don't get me started on how underwhelming it is in the end of the day as a pirate game.
It is still the closest thing to the bit that majority of pirate-themed games lack and that's pirate haven management. I'm actually surprised people from Akella didn't try to copy Tropico 2 into their pirate games

Soil erosion was a thing in every single fucking Tropico game. And 6 is absolutely casual to the shitfest that was original, where you had also rainfall to account for, which was EVER-changing. And in original, planting coffee and pineapple was still the winning strategy, even without procesing buildings to turn them into uber-selling goods.

All the worst aspects of Tropico 1 (yes, the first one), Factorio and Industry Giant 2 without any advantages or good aspects of either of those game. It's like a wishlist of all the bad, tedious and boring elements from those three. On top of that, it runs like ass due to being written in spaghetti.

Don't know what to tell you anon. I don't build super housing blocks and these really do help to decongest main roads. Alternative with mass garages and god forbid free wheels means they both fuck off half way across the island for some 5 points higher service and LA rush-hour traffic jams. Second use is definitely for isolated mines you don't want to build a whole city for or mass tourist transit.

It's just not as fleshed out as it should be. Tropico is really more of a tycoon game than a city builder and because of that certain things like transportation has always been ass as to not go to hard on the city management part.
