I've been playing this game a LOT recently. I think I really like it, even though it's still an Early Access buggy mess with lots of missing features.

The ability to allow you to play on hypothetically any part of the world is very interesting and should potentially make the replayability of the game near infinite, although currently the actual distinction between playthroughts isn't very very different from one another, since every playthough tends to almost go the same way, even if building layouts are always different from one another.

Some balance regarding tech needs to be adressed, and there's quite a few pathfinding/bug issues, but I've enjoyed it overall.
Have other Anons tried this game yet?

I was going to buy it but I saw reviews saying that the devs make self sufficiency impossible, and you have to constantly go further and further out because the manpower requirements for shit like farming is absurd.

So I still have it on my wishlist, and will probably get it when I see it for $5 at some point

>I was going to buy it but I saw reviews saying that the devs make self sufficiency impossible, and you have to constantly go further and further out because the manpower requirements for shit like farming is absurd.
It's not really that bad. A lot of your playthrough is dependant on the location you spawn yourself in, so a location with a lot of densely packed buildings won't let you place a lot of farms unless you demolish some buildings or rush the greenhouse techs to build indoor farms (which will help with farming being practically disabled during a third of the year in some of Earth latitudes. This only means however that alot of your early food sources will come from salvaged canned food from buildings.
Now that you can build fisheries obtaining food from nearby sources of water is also possible.

Lots of the resources you obtain depend greatly on the city you spawn in, for example, since this base was set up in a university city there's lots of science materials for you to obtain and make early researching easier, but even in rural areas you can eventually make enough labs to produce all of your own research materials you'll ever need, so there's no resource you cannot eventually produce for yourself rather than trade or scavenge for.

I've yet to try the game in harder difficulties, but I'd say that once you actually know what you're doing the game becomes noticably much easier. Fortunately you can change the difficulty of a run at any time mid-game, including the amount of resources you can obtain.

that is the worst complaint you can make about this game, that you cannot turtle.
The real issues are a shitty map generator, controls where you have to spam orders when exploring the buildings and the general lack of content, although i only played on release and one time after that when they added new game crashes.
The story it had was good, im looking forward to release but have doubts they will be able to finish it.

Those are all complaints I do have about the game. I think there isn't much that can be done about the random map generation, since it's literally taken from like Google Maps data, except I do hope they improve pathfinding. As for content and QoL features, the latest major update was just this past May, and they added quite some stuff. That, and the mentioned Roadmap plus the latest player survey leads me to think that the devs do are planning to add much more stuff in the future, It just doesn't seem like they'll stop updating the game anytime soon.

...How? Tower building strats and juking ai pathfinding or spamming sniper towers and shotgun gates with barbwire aside you can place a couple of fields (which zombies don't attack) in each direction about half way across the map and have early warning. Then stack all your squads in buildings on that side.

Apparently the way they do it is they use some AI program to automatically interpret satellite images of places in the world. Of course the dumb computer isn't gonna know what every place is just from looking at pictures and reading Google Reviews of the locations, which is why the custom-tailored "recommended" maps still exsist, plus some unique locations would still need custom models for the buildings (Eiffel Tower, White House, etc).

Oh, i just noticed that The Last Duty is actually DLC for 112. That's a bit more reasonable.

The 112 game has quite a few DLCs, adding different kinds of content, which I think is telling of what we can expect the Infection Free Zone game to look like in the future, since they're so similar.

IMO, it's very poorly implemented. It's somehow more conterproductive to have Terrain activated in the Edinburgh map than disabled. Somehow there's massive amount of blind spots with all the walls and buildings and elevation, and the Infected can still climb that cliff somehow, not even slowed down.

When you get tired of it, and it will spam, just delete the 'original' transmision and it's gone for good.

>Edinburgh
That map blows. The walls melt in seconds, the slope is useless and half of the buildings have bugged los and entry points. And if you try to repair the brick "medieval" walls it also queues up some half destroyed wall in the other corner of the map.
I did Austin texas last time and it was much more enjoyable. Dusty suburbs on one side, big city on the other and you have a nice compound surrounded by parks and nestled up against a river between two bridges. My trucks thankfully came with invisible pontoons so they could drive on the actual river as well. Bonus points for putting up your beyond pop cap enabling residence inside the Hyatt hotel.

nta but the game in its current state is indeed crap. My favorite examples being the pain you get trying to use the UI for precise orders or multi squad management. Zombies that bug out and stop showing up altogether. Expeditions leaving your vehicles stranded. Tiny pop cap and tiny maps. Very annoying need to restart due to memory leaks, and I got 64gbs of RAM. Pathfinding being weird af to the point of people inside a building ordered to move a different corner almost always leave the building, get into their car, drive around for a bit and then enter by the same door they just left to finally reposition.

Also what clown algorithm are they using that decides an entire row of buildings, with a goddamn bridge and overpass bundled together or the entirety of pentagon is a single building but some objectively huge buildings are split into fifty gorillion huts that all clip into eachother?

I still can't believe you can't actually Drag/Select squads in a groups like every single RTS in existence.
You also can't Bind a Squad/Squad Group to the 0 Hotkey, so only 1-to-9 are available to be binded for some reason.

>>2065551
>they should just enter on collision, it would remove much pain
Doors are essential for the strategy of the game because of how you can build your bases integrating buildings and doors into them. You can block the entrances to a very long building using
walls and save a lot of resources in what would've been a far longer wall for you to build, and later you can integrate that building into your base.
I just wish they allowed you to remove/add doors to buildings/walls similarily to how they now allow you to use resouces to split buildings.

>>2065475
It is. Ammo is already exhorbitantly abundant with scavenging plus raiders, and I never feel the need to make my own.

>>2065358
I think it's just that it's more common for raiders to survive areas less populated by infected than around the center of the base where they tend to converge. You can also attract more Raiders to your map by spamming the 'Invite' call, so that might have somethign to do with it.

>>2065365
There's the Player Faction, Neutral Faction, Infected Faction, and Raider Faction, but nothing like Infected nests or Raider hideouts in-map or on exploration zones, although they do have planned things like Non-Player bases outside of the playable map you can visit and trade with i think.

>>2065415
I don't think you can. As in, the quest isn't finished yet, so the only way to finish it right now is to have the raiders die eventually for the next message of the quest to appear. I've actually managed to kill the infected before they enter the raiders' hideout and then enter the hideout with my squad, only for nothing to occur, at least until the raiders eventually die to something else.

Did a little searching. Apparently it uses data from a collaborative project called OpenStreetMap. You can apparently go into this service, do your own edits to the zone you want to play with for higher accuracy, and once the changes stick you can go into the game and it will load that info once you generate a map of the area.
The game does have it's own map editor though.

worst part of this game, in its colony management aspect, is the fact that the day ends faster than your peasants are able to get to their job locations. Its ridiculous, no other game has such slow units. Its especially stupid on the real life maps which you know how long it actually takes to cross.

I hate that too. The trick is telling the squad to abandon the vehicle while they fight since somehow they can avoid being damaged by the Infected far easily than the steel, motorized vehicle.
Healing them is far easier too. I hate that vehicles take fuel to repair. That shit makes no sense and is expensive as fuck. I'd rather have it require some custom vehicle parts that need complex steel production to produce or can be salvaged from mechanic shops or traded for.
