Why aren't there more parody games? I don't want to see indy jank #562 or corpo slop 5000, I want omages to the games I used to play that were popular because they were good.
We've gotten too focused on experimenting, either with new mechanics or graphics, what we need is refinement, and nothing breeds refining better than the mocking cruelty of derisive laughter.
There are too many imitators right now, too many 'new' games that just feel like the same thing we've seen a million times before. Its like how people say, they want something that is "the same, but different." the best way to do that is to make a pastiche, showing whats changed and what hasn't, whats classic and whats cringe.
