It's shallow busywork, kitting out ships isn't really fun at all, since all that really matters is to maximize utility out of red-yellow/green-red rock or whatever and putting minimum thought into range brackets. It's very superflous compared to how important and fun such mechanic is in say SMAC, where with far fewer slots per unit, different engine or special trait can drastically alter the way unit works, and endless arms race for better weaponry and armor is extremely impactful.
I'm no stranger to autobattlers, but the way battles work is super mind numbing and it's just not fun to watch. IDK I haven't played the game in few years but it's just not very developed system, it's basically mobile game-tier.

It's just slightly too gamefied for my taste, or the scale of the simulation is too abstracted for me.
For instance, the level of abstraction of the ship battle system is mostly acceptable to me.
But the colonising process of a planet that is literally lava or something is too trivialised and scarce in detail. The end effect is that it's almost like a cartoon, all these silly animal people living on a poison planet, a jungle planet, a lava planet and the game just tells you "oh they built like really good buildings and it's developed and has good science now"

Again, there's a perk you can get from the Academy to lessen depletion. However, it's a bit buggy. It flips the values for any species using depletion. So you'll get the x150% increase without ruining your planets. Pacifism is needed to negate the Eternal War debuff, allowing negotiations with other empires.

Well the main thing for me is the quests are just uninteresting and I much more care about the macro, strategic Sim aspects of managing an intergalactic empire. I don't care when Joe the minister got cucked again by Horatio in the dagobah system. And then, just like in stellaris, the game feels too abstracted. I want much population graphs, migration trends, economic outputs, or faction demographics detailed overviews.

I just started playing this week, on my second game now. Randomed as Sophons and got encroached on by an aggressive neighnouring Vaulter. Now in mid-game I'm in an alliance with the Lumeris and we're in full scale galactic war of our alliance vs another 2 vs another 2.

Loving the game, just wish the AI were better. Also disppointed that all races have the same looking behemoth ship.

Awakening got rework that made Academy fleet weaker and their interactions w Nakalim lot more balanced. It is far from perfect but now I actually enjoy playing them even if them starting w 1st 2 tiers of tech still feels IMBA.
