It's simpler than the base game, but I thought it was alright. If you don't mind post-Rome II gameplay, it's worth a playthrough on sale.

TW in general is just an antiquated game series that has not innovated anything after rome 1.
Just prettified the graphics and done nothing else.
Instead of evolving their political mechanics for more indepth political simulation they have done nothing but sold cosmetics and new campaigns with no replayability. Instead of adding logistical mechanics, economic mechanics, population mechanics, trade mechanics etc etc, they have simply stagnated and done nothing but collect money from their paypiggies.
But that isnt that unusual, paradox does the same in fact they do even worse since they take features away and simplify them. All in all corporation based videogame development is a scourge on videogames and anybody involved should be shot at haste.
