>>2075951Right. Basically every expansion is "bad" in a way. They are divisive because firstly, whatever new faction is the one that interacts most with the new mechanic and the other races interact like maybe 1/3rd as much with it.
The Hissho one provides Behemoths, which some argue fuck with the game feeling because of them being able to be upgraded to Obliterators which fire planet destroying missiles. You can use a tech that will let your planet take one more hit to kill(in which case, multiple Oblits will be fired), or make another type of Behemoth called a Citadel to protect your system. So the gameplay becomes about spamming behemoths. On the other hand I like that they let you harvest from systems you don't on, they fill the missing role of space stations, and you can make them into Juggernauts to support your fleet. If you play a bunch of games you might end up turning it off sometimes.
The Vaulters one is IMO the only truly good one, but the Vaulters are kind of OP. Also the theme is being able to negotiate with pirates, which of course they are best at.
The Umbral Choir one adds hacking which only the Umbral Choir really make use of. There's not much other races can do with it. Still, being hacked is a negative but it's just a minor dumb thing to worry about instead of anything fun or cool if you're not Umbral Choir.
The Nakalim one had a lot of bugs and people hated the Academy changes and the Nakalim were kind of shit, but there's been some patches to fix things. I recommend playing once with it off and once with it on to see how the Academy is different and decide what you like.
I think the DLCs are called Supremacy, Vaulters, Penumbra, and Awakening, in that order.
