>that planet
Planet generation is the one aspect where I think watching a tutorial is really helpful. It's much easier to start out with this game when you're on a forgiving earthlike planet that has a high population. Everything costs less, you're not as limited with production, and there's ruins to scavenge.

Yeah I just had a concept for my autistic headcanon storyline.
Sparsely populated world with oasis regions that everyone fights over. People control an oasis, they have power, but because there's low pop, no one could hold onto too much territory.
It worked a little too well bros. I'm suffering in my first run.

The game doesn't tell you that militias are shit and you should not use them unless it's your last resource.
I thought numerical advantage would help me beat the bums and critters that inhabited the area but no, when I stopped using militia in combination with my bots I started kicking their asses.

How do I wage war in this fucking game?
Massed my troops along the border and setup depots so I could keep a logistics train into enemy ground.
I invade like a retard zogbot.
I had sent spies into their territory in preparation for this several times, the enemy turned out to have x20 the troops I thought from the intel I got back. Their whole region had its fow removed so I thought I knew what I was up against.
Anyway, I go in, it takes me like 3 turns to get to 0 supply and 0 morale. Maybe some of those depots weren't finished but also the enemy can just march behind you and cut you off, then you're basically done.
I'm thinking rethink my strategy and do the same approach, like the Germans, break in deep, get behind them. But the potential to just get cut off so easily is pretty.
So what, maybe mechanized forces? More trucks to move fast? I mostly have infantry so they're hoofing it into enemy land.
How tf to capture large regions I have no idea, once you start a major war you're bleeding resources, political capital and manpower like a mf so you gotta win fast as possible.
I feel, literally, like Vladimir Putin right now.

Never build multiple buildings. Early game industry can support one building at a time and sometimes I have to shift it to 75%. Halt and Shift some of them useless ones to 25% and bring one complete. Money wasted on idling workers could have gone to buying machinery.
Well it takes a few restarts to get a hang of this game. Try revert a few saves earlier for a better outcome and develop a smooth strategy.
>>2079633
He can but his building spree probably consumed all his Industry output. Buggie can have good armor but attack value is shit, one can have the same armor and murder everyone with a howitzer. I only did buggie on a barren tiny moon map with little metal, life, pop and water for much of anything.
but it's not like a model designer for a light tank is something inaccessible. All you need is that cabinet member appointed, discover and design a howitzer light tank with armor thicker than sheet metal. There is not military tech to discover.
Until enemy has anti-tank, Infantry attack advancing tanks gets counter attacked and any unit can counter attack 6 times.

Absolutely what you said in your first response that's what I figured last night and did it, now it's going but because I have so many it's still slow. I'm gonna have to demolish some and be done with it, otherwise I'll stay stagnant for a long ass time. I'm just trying to get my industry and logistics system up.
I'd have to shrink my expansion.
Problem is, well these desert niggas are expanding and threatening to surround me, so I'm kind of compelled to keep pushing it just to deny them that. I already did it at this isthmus region, so I'll probably cut corners there. I want to keep expanding in that direction but for now having a border they can't cross is enough.

They're just sitting there, just incomplete government projects, there's probably crackhead niggas living in there by now.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what they need to be completed holy shit.
Is it that other structures use them? Makes no sense, logistical structures should generate points no?
I have all the resources those shits need.
I've even tried closing down non-logistics-related assets so they don't take up workers. Nothing, this shit just doesn't get going. They just stay as they are.
Maybe I have too many units fielded?

i like the setting but you make it sound like distant worlds which it just isn't
starsector is a good example of a game where you really customize your ships and they act totally differently as well as a game where thinking outside the box can be rewarding
in shadow empire you have the illusion of choice but really there are only about 6 numbers and there aren't that many options
i really wanted to like it because the setting is cool and i thought logistics wasn't going to be trivial but i was wrong

It's not trying to be distant worlds and it's definitely not trying to be starsector. Starsector has real time tactical combat that I don't think you can really compare to a turn based strategic system. Shadow Empire is a land combat wargame with 4x elements. I haven't played any of the dev's historical wargames but it looks to be a similar system.

obviously it isn't trying to be starsector: that was just the first well knowm example of a game where customizing your units makes very real and meaningful differences which i could think of
designing your models seems like it is going to matter in shadow empire but it simply doesn't

i did expect it to have more distant worlds like mechanics
the game was sold to me on the basis of logistics more than anything but the logistics system is incredibly simple in reality and not very realistic to boot

i would have loved a game about the scarcity of resources: a game where you moved stockpiles around to prepare for conflicts over key resources and where developing supply lines was how you built your empire
to some extent, developing roads is how you build your empire in shadow empire but it is trivial and unrewarding
the sea game is outrageous though

Logistics is incredibly simple in reality, pick a thing up and put it down somewhere else.

The fun in SE is the interplay between the planetary characteristics and strategic situation you find yourself in. You try to make ancapistan on a death world surrounded by 7 hostile factions and you're going to lose. Politics are a tool, go for enforcement if you're getting clowned on logistics.

Planet generation being essentially a gacha pisses me off enough that every time I feel like playing Shadow Empire I reroll planets for two hours and then decide to go play something with actual gameplay.
Manual inputs needs to be a thing. They can keep the generator to check if the inputs are valid. I think one could actually do it right now with Cheat Engine but I can't be arsed because it would be very autistic work.

If the devs got rid of this crap and made it more direct and also allowed you to customize planets instead of rolling bs, I would play it.

Paradox is good because they ended the era of "resource points" "food points" and knowingly or unknowingly have made that stuff look super retarded and comical which it always was. Shadow Empire devs, I don't think they witnessed that. Not saying those systems are bad entirely.

Strategy gamers who buy all the dlc's and become fans, don't like "casual" systems they like sweaty systems that make you learn economics or something.

You can, you need xeno diplomacy teams. The cards cost a fuckton of points to play and you need to spam them. And all you get is bunch of their units which die to a stiff breeze. But their units don't need supply which can be useful to flip some mountains in bumfuck nowhere, just keep them out of battle. I guess you could get lucky and gen some badass alien natives, but I haven't really seen any real combat potential from sapient aliens.
