Is Endless Legend still worth grabbing with the sequel around the corner?
I'm looking for a new 4X and somehow missed playing Endless Legend, Planetfall and Old World. I might grab just two of these and all their DLC

I strongly suspect that EL1 will have wya more content that 2 for a very long time, the AI is very braindead though. They can't use half the machanics the DLCs introduce

Broken Lords, slow start but once you get going it really get's going.

Hmm. That makes sense. I guess it's only $25 for all the dlc and the game.
How's the multiplayer for EL and Old World? My friends like playing CIV but always get ADHD about turn times. Are either of these a little faster/streamlined or at least can they be for multiplayer?

Seconded. Love they way late game they can basically act as steamrolling terminators just instantly building entire armies and cities in a single turn.

It's a great 4X but really let down by the combat. It's the kind of game that always leaves me feeling like it could have done with another 6 months of design refinement. I get the same feeling with Endless Space 2 which I'm currently playing through (one race at a time).

Can't say what the multiplayer scene for EL1 is as i only player with my friends but i can tell you that you'll need a lot of patience to play some fantasy CIV

the combat in EL is not made with a multiplayer game in mind, everytime someone has a battle, everyone has to wait for them to finish so that the game can continue. This can take a few minutes every few turns early on to literal hours in the late game where multiple big armies clash during big wars.

That's to say we went to play Endless Space 2 for multiplayer, it's a much more satisfying 4x multiplayer experience
