None. They're all pop history variations.

Does it work with the remastered version? I can see that og rome 1 isn't on steam nor gog, so I guess I'd need to pirate it then and then apply the mod. Would that work at all or is it more than a drag&drop operation here since the game would be pirated?

I'm pretty sure you get OG versions of RTW if you buy Remastered. That being said, there is EB port for it on workshop if you want to try that out

Reminder that there are some inaccuracies that got into EB1 that don't exist in EB2.

You don't want the Steam version, they did some bullshit to the game that fucked performance. Look for Total War Eras collection (includes, Rome, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander) and use no-cd files that can be found down the list here: https://github.com/anzz1/openspy-client?tab=readme-ov-file
If your performance is bad, try dxvk or dgvoodoo2
If you want to play vanilla, get the original BUG-FIXER v3.36 mod to fix some things that never got patched (later versions you might stumble upon were made much later by other people and they change balance etc)

This corrupts terrain textures on the campaign map and possibly elsewhere in the game. Using dxvk or dgvoodoo2 improves performance (dxvk Version 2.4.1 is the best all-around from my testing) and either of those render everything without issue

Don't know about EB I but EB II works no problem on Steam if you follow the instructions.
t least works as well as vainilla, a game that still has problems and crashes nowadays.

None. CA seem to have a strong aversion to realism and historical accuracy, you have to mod that in.

Yeah, the Med2 port is better on Steam than the original Rome port was. Though, I did hear some modder claim that the AI in Steam Med 2 is worse somehow than the disc release, but I don't know if that's true. The thing about Steam Rome 1 having worse performance than the disc/1.5 version is definitely true.

It is, but basically every mod under the sun fixes it
