Slitherine BVLLS keep delivering. Field of Glory Medieval is a great tactical turn-based wargame, base game has plenty of content.

Honestly never tried Fantasy General II or the Battlestar Galactica game, are either these worth investing my time and emotions into?

Battlestar game is pretty good but it can get a bit grindy on higher difficulties.

don't see anything on russian counterstrike forum, but fanatical a couple times now has done slitherine bundles where you can pick up all the DLC (and for the other Field of Glory games as well) for about 2 bucks each

For Swiss your halberds are way superior to all their infantry, just bumrush them from the front and with those left flank troops at once. You might lose some fights to their knights in impact phase, but try to take advantage of any knight pushback or fallbacks for flanking opportunties. And if your halberds manage stay firm through impact phase with knights then once again, they win the fight.
As for more general tips make sure you always take disordering terrain into account, your crossbows can annoy the enemy by standing in forests while your halberds are severely disordered by forests
