>bsg deadlock
last i played it campaign pacing and difficulty were really weird. you had a risk-style campaign map. iirc you had a limited number of fleets/actions you can take per turn, every turn there were cylon attacks but you also had a main campaign mission. i ended up focusing on the cylon attacks, trying get into a favorable position where they could only attack me from a limited number of directions.

this lead to me fighting let's say 3 battles per turn, with none of them being the main campaign mission, for a really long time. except the game had some kind of progression system so i had already unlocked battlestars and the advanced fighter while the cylons were stuck on their basic cruisers, so every turn it'd be three battles against absolutely garbage cylon fleets with no challenge at all, except since the game is turn based i couldn't even wrap them up quickly. i ended up getting bored and quitting while i was barely a third way through the campaign but with dozens of boring battles fought.

i guess the cylon progression was tied to the main campaign progress while mine wasn't? so the game expected me to just ignore cylon attacks and focus on main missions if i didn't want to fight 50 curbstomp battles with no end in sight? it was a really poorly designed campaign. real shame because atmosphere and gameplay were solid. and it was a good looking game too, it used to be a dream for me to play a bsg themed space strategy game
