Is there any redeeming this game? Its biggest fans seem to be illiterate in more ways than just economically and I'd dare say would quit altogether if the ahistorical +10SoL perfect wealth redistribution button, worker coops, was removed.

No. Stop playing Paradox games. They're just "what-if" history wankworks where jeopardy-watching neoyuppies and history PhD dropouts are doing the what-iffing. The actual game is just cookie clickering. There are some pretty boring historical games out there like rule the waves, anything by slitherine, and gary grigsby's war you probably haven't heard of, but at least these games are an attempt to accurately model some real historic conflict. Paradox games are total retardation like, "What if Somalia was a world power in 1593? That will be 238 Euros (plus VAT)." They're not good games and they're not good simulations. They're not even well programmed.
