Why would anybody play this when HoI IV exists with better graphics, better music, more mechanics, deper mechanics, more diplomacy, and more of everything?

Get out of the past.

Looks good but I got burnt by WitE1.
Its wasn't just the money, it was the time investment that I wasted. I would find it hard to put my trust in GG game again.

I feel like Gary's games tend to really be one hit wonders with me. Once I play through it once I tend to never want to play them again.

Yeah, this too. But what really killed it for me was the brain dead AI, and spending months on a PBEM campaign against random opponents who have a nasty habit of flaking once they lose interest ( or start losing ) wasn't appealing.

WitE 2 is actually a major upgrade despite what some boomers say. Id recommend it if you can get it on sale for cheap
