So, how is the game now? And is it worth buying while at sale? Or is one of those games You drop 20 hours into and never open the again? And what about mods?

from what i've seen from playing a bit before going to bed: >they added a few more game settings (win conditions) >more maps >you can actually choose were you start on the map now >migration and aproval mechanic changed a so that you dont have to play the exact same way or risk stalling with your pop, and it is overall less awkward >the town perk system has been reworked but still wip >they are starting to add on map AIs. I didnt tried, but i think the beta already has then but they are wip >you can build walls/castles now >production chains have been reworked a bit there are a few more new things to produce now
It is definitively moving away from >You drop 20 hours into and never open the again
But lets see if they really deliver in the comming months now that they restructured into an actual studio with a team instead of a solo dev

New maps are pretty fun. I figure the jagged cliffs one will be very fun when multiplayer is added in 10 years give or take >>2162295

If the start is less awkward, that's good enough for me. Wasn't my biggest complaint, but it was kind of a pointless chore that stopped me from exploring the game.

What I'll say is I still have to restrain myself minmaxing, the devs have a healthy direction where you can kinda go with the flow and things will work out but for example extension yields sometimes being tied to size of the plot sometimes now throws the vibe off, hens and apiaries should also scale up with size
All these years gaming studios brainwashing us with specs and all the graphical progress buzzwordage and all you need to give is us basic shit well put together.
Either that or greg is a geniuis cause this looks magic
They really need to find a better alternative to the ox pulling logs around.
It is so annoying early on, specially when you have resource node as far away as possible from your starting area

I've only a limited time engineering this stuff, but graphical fidelity of this level is fairly easy to optimize (for a programmer that isn't a complete fraud). It's usually elsewhere that things go wrong.

I love making my towns chaotic, but too often I'll find out that some particular road corner becomes too thin and people get stuck in it and cause a giant roadblock that snowballs until my economy falls apart.

The massive amount of dressed stone motivated me to just make a small enclosed space and give up on having a large castle yard. But it's worth it to just see the castle looming over the village. Anything bigger and with more inputs wouldn't be worth bothering. Wish there was a way to build stone walls around the whole village.

What's happening is that everything works fine setting up the fisherman's hut to 120 reserve and 320 reserve, but for some reason 220 reserve in specific resulted in some major overfishing. If nothing is supposed to kill the fish, that seems like a very specific bug.

If you do choose to do a big project make sure you finish before exiting the game. Unfinished stone castle bugged my save so I had to dismantle it. >Wish there was a way to build stone walls around the whole village.
I tried this again cause they did say they'll enable it but yea still not possible

People will shit on you but I deeply envy you. I will never be able to overcome my autism and not do commie blocks in every city building game

It takes a big toll trying to make the village feel organic especially in this game where you need to create a new village for every region. You can't scale to >100 households by being artisan with your placement.
Maybe take a look at some medieval towns and you can copy their build patterns for inspiration
I had 5 dedicated tailors and could only upgrade like 2 houses to tier 3. My game will also start to crash after playing a save for so long.
The beta has so many bugs that it's better to not even bother with it. If you're waiting for 1.0, then keep waiting. This patch is 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.

I've had them firing straight in to bandit rif raff running right towards them with no casualties.
So I switched to crossbows and never bother with bowmen again

I'll give you a clue:
This game is trying to reinvent Ostriv. 100x times better marketing, made Paweł bank, but gameplay wise, it's Ostriv, but shit.
And Ostriv had its own issues, so go fucking figure.
