Several boards I roam on 4chan seem to have fully recovered after the hack, with their visitor numbers back up to where they were before it happened.
What is causing /vt/, which is (was?) one of the fastest boards on the entire site, to hemorrhage users after it's return post-hack?
It's noticeably different now, much slower than it was before, you don't need to bump a thread as much to keep it alive, and once a thread hits bump limit, it takes quite a while for it to drop off the board.

Most of the board fucking hated /vt/.
The hack was a perfect opportunity to make new boards like the tower, which have actual moderation and overall better, more enjoyable attitudes as they're moderated and populated by people who actually enjoy vtubing rather than people who only enjoy shitposting.

Hololive Global used to be the source of most of the board's activity. We don't even have it anymore and /vt/ is now populated by the shitposters in /pcg/ and /lig/ now instead, who were distant minorities pre-hack.

That and this revealing the caliber of the average catalog thread. This happened dozens of times a day on /vt/ I am certain. Hundreds to thousands of posts by these braindead faggots and dramavultures while real fans tried to talk about vtubers.

Tower is just a placebo effect if we have actual moderation here, which we clearly do lately. That is why there was a calamitous drop but things have held kind of stable, for people who stayed behind after meidos cracked down, things are not actually that different from before and they know it.

Meanwhile tower mostly just runs identical to here minus like 3 schizos in global - people who have been repeatedly shot in sight here in /vt/ the last month FYI - and think they are in some vastly superior state. They are neither much better nor much worse than before if you remove the presence of kiaraschizo. They are literally the same people telling themselves they have a new car by just giving it a new paint job. Hence I say, it really is a placebo effect.

It's like how after Brexit happened they thought the UK would be saved, the EU is gonna collapse from its shit moderation of immigrants etc so to speak. They would in reality be stronger leading /vt/ by example like they were literally designed to do, why this board was made for. He was over there lurking anyway, and immediately wanted to try to scare them into not using the thread here still by bogeymanning himself after he has not been seen here in weeks. The schizos they hate so much? They WANT them gone from here. Kiaraschizo WANTS you to use tower. And they all gave into it. He himself was probably the one spamming links saying everyone should go there because he sees it as his victory for them to leave. He won by taking advantage of a 2 day window before meido came and shut him up. and they handed it to him and pat themselves on the back for it. Every argument you see to not come back, "we don't owe a site our loyalty" etc were arguments straight from him. Way to go.

It really is as simple as half the board fucked off to tower and didn't come back. Hololive Global used to be one of the most active threads on the board, now it has plummeted beneath threads like /pcg/ and /#/ which are now the new most active. If you sort the board by PPM you would have known this instantly instead of having to look at a graph.
It is interesting though because it means that the Hololive Global people weren't just shitting up their own thread, they were shitting up the entire board while they were here.

Counter-productively speaking, however, and due to the absurdly slow pace to archival on both threads (here now is like, almost two hours on a week day, while the other one takes about two weeks to die), discussion between us outside of her streams became absolutely null or unnecessary since there's no longer an obligation or reason to engage.

/vt/ features a topic of high emotional investment, drama, and brown third world schizophrenia (e-girls). Compared to something like /v/ people care more about the subject matter itself, which generally makes the shitposting worse, both in degree and reception. It's altogether something that requires *more* proactive and considerate moderation, except the jannies, mods, and admins actively, purposefully do their job (of which they do for free) *less* than they do on any of the other active boards.

More than any other board, /vt/ suffers from vague rules that are selectively and arbitrarily enforced according the jannies' whims. One general might have any slightly negative post instabanned because it's of the janny's interest, and another might have schizo discord raiders samefagging, cuck and doxposting, and generally being an intolerable threadshitter on cooldown for hours, until a janny finally MAYBE does something about it if he doesn't ban you instead for reporting it. It's such a blatant phenomenon that it's impossible not to assume that the jannies purposefully want some generals or vtubers to get hounded by schizos and indonesians, if not participate in threadshitting themselves. They are sampled from the subhuman userbase of this board, after all.

It's not just low level jannies who disregard the board either, it includes high level mods and admins who were proven during the leaks to completely disregard any issues the board has, between them responding "lol nah" to discussion about any changes on /j/, and the feedback queue consisting almost entirely of people begging for post IDs because it's literally the bare minimum this board needs, in light of the jannies doing fuck all themselves. /vt/ is nothing more than a containment board to them and they treat it accordingly.

So given the first excuse to actually go elsewhere with moderation less shit, many people on /vt/ were celebrated while most other people from other boards treated it as an annoying interruption. Good posters and people who actually enjoy the board's subject matter got to experience relative peace for once, and didn't come back when 4chan did. Which makes the problems all around even worse, as now browns and schizos make up even more of the posters proportionately.

A significant chunk of /vt/ users are not 4chan posters but users of outside internet sites who happened to congregate into /vt/ because it was the first, fastest website to discuss vtubers. They are not 4chan users, do not like 4chans culture, and prefer active moderation that limits discussion to specific on topic posts.
