>>101562485On the surface that might seem true, but I would seriously argue that even in his games where he unapologetically indulges in cinematics that he still flexes some serious aptitude as a game director who makes fun video games. I think that just writing off the guy who made Metal Gear 2, Snatcher, Policenauts, Metal Gear Solid, MGS2, MGS3 and, yes, Death Stranding as a wannabe director is seriously selling him short.
MGS4 is seriously lopsided and probably his worst game overall, but when it's actually letting you play a video game, it's good shit. It's just very poorly paced. He could have broken up a lot of those cutscenes without actually compomising on their content and made a much better game, at least in my opinion.
