I don't think that's true, because if you go to some old VODs the only thing that's changed is that everyone has an @ symbol in front of their name but you're right that I'm not seeing any emojis.
However in FUWAMOCO's VODs, there are no @ symbols and there are a bunch of people with the pawprints in their name.

What annoys me is that despite adding this random bullshit, it's still not possible to click on a name in chat and automatically reply to them - you have to copy paste their username. I'm not a big fan of Twitch but at least Twitch chat allows you to reply by clicking on a username. Such a simple fucking feature and yet they don't implement it.

Unfortunately google has some of the worst UI I've ever seen and it gets worse every change. Basically like any modern UI. Lots of symbols that mean nothing instead of words, lots of menus scattered everywhere with names no one outside IT knows like the hamburger icon or the ellipsis icon, or any idea what they really are meant to imply, "just click it and find out" is the word. They really aren't. Some very large creators are moving because they're being offered multi-million dollar deals to move, but given most indie vtubers to this day are still choosing Twitch, it will continue to be the favourite.

Twitch has a better interface, better discoverability, better interactions, better integrations, better networking opportunities, better customisation, easier to set up, easier to monetise and less restrictions on content.

Yeah because Kick is running at a huge fucking loss, even bigger than Twitch to try and incentivise people to move. But Kick has the reputation of being full of all the people who got banned from YouTube and Twitch, AKA horrible people. So it's really doubtful that it will grow into anything even if they are offering a 90/10 split. They can't offer 90/10 forever, they will have to increase their cut at some point.
