I think it's just a sign of the times honestly. It's become increasingly easier over the last few years to be an indie Vtuber. It's not 2020 anymore when this shit was kind of new. Nowadays, especially if you're established and don't mind the extra workload, it really doesn't make sense to stay with a company. You're just sharing your profits with a third party, and, again, if you're willing to do the extra work yourself, why bother?
Both Zen and Geega have the network and connections to flourish on their own.
Vshojo is probably great for people who don't want to do the extra work on their own, but even then, as people get older and more established, it's pretty a natural evolution to want to do your thing, be your own brand.
