I feel like the Verso v. Maelle thing is about maturity than gender. Biboo is a brainrotted zoomer and has no real life experience with anything, so naturally she empathized with the spoiled entitled little girl. People who pick Verso see that Renoir is doing the best he can for his actual, real life family, and understands that the canvas is all an illusion. Neither ending is particularly better. Verso is a lying bastard who's sacrificing countless lives that are as real as his own just because he personally doesn't want to live anymore. Any notions of helping the real painter family are secondary to him if we're being honest. Maelle is coping and delusional, trying to escape her own personal woes at the expense of the rest of her family's wellbeing and her own physical health. Any notions of helping the people of the painting are secondary to her if we're being honest. Their core motives are selfish and both of them are utter hypocrites. They both temporarily flip their stances when dealing with the painted Alicia and learn precisely nothing from the experience. Neither of them deserve shit, which is why the ideal outcome would have been Maelle getting dragged out of the painting and forced to deal with reality and Verso getting left behind to cope and seethe while Lumiere is restored and lives on without either of them.

Isn't verso aware at the very end that if she continues to stay there that his sister will die and then the rest of the painted world will go with her? So the only thing they are doing is prolonging the inevitable for say, 100 in painting years, and then everyone is dead including his sister who he would prefer didn't. At least with versos ending she lives, with her ending everyone dies.

I don't think the painting would immediately die with her, but then there'll be nothing to stop Renoir from coming back and destroying it. Though that's assuming he even still cares to do so, which is hard to say. I don't know if he's petty enough to destroy the painting on principle after the fact unless Aline is going to fuck around with it again. There's nothing definitive to say on any of that.
Also if you want to put in terms of life and death, Verso's ending is just immediately killing everyone except Maelle, while Maelle's ending is buying them some ambiguous, but presumably somewhat lengthy amount of time at the cost of her own life in the end. Again, though, this is a secondary concern to either of them. Verso is foremost concerned about ending himself and Maelle is foremost concerned about perpetuating her escapism.
