I don't know if he's petty enough to destroy the painting on principle after the fact unless Aline is going to fuck around with it again. There's nothing definitive to say on any of that.
Also if you want to put in terms of life and death, Verso's ending is just immediately killing everyone except Maelle, while Maelle's ending is buying them some ambiguous, but presumably somewhat lengthy amount of time at the cost of her own life in the end. Again, though, this is a secondary concern to either of them. Verso is foremost concerned about ending himself and Maelle is foremost concerned about perpetuating her escapism.
