I know holo gens 1-3 at least had people audition for specific models. Hoshikawa applied for Haachama, etc.

iirc some of the gen2 vta got axed. there was a blonde guy who has a huge ego and deservedly got cut. there was kunio who was highly talented but she literally had "haven't done my vta homework" as a characterization and probably got dropped over being unable to fulfill her lesson commitments. The rest like meano and kuno got dropped because they're just not that entertaining, azusa the gimmicky girl ran to brave to be a vsinger (unfortunately, i'd prefer her to be an indie). actually about 8 of 12 vta2 has debuted by 2025 and they're carrying the bulk of the newer nijijp fans.

gen 3 got cut with only some survivors. there was a bilibili reincarnation that already lured schizos once the chink recognized her voice, and a menhera as mentioned in above post. some less controversial members made it through anyway and debuted in ayakaki, mitarashi and 3skm.

gen4 only had like a month of lessons before they got cut, there were barely anything to go with these folks and I don't remember them at all. there was a girl who tried to appeal to the EN and ID market but thankfully got cut.

After that VTA went into the background and we get some nice vsinger reincarnations through the non-public pipeline which made the bulk of ayakaki and speciale. It's only recently they started doing public vta streams again and we're probably getting a main branch debut this week or next week.
