Think of it like the UTA for talents like Henya or Mouse. VShojo is good enough in their own, but they do lack a lot since they don't have as much "prestige" in the industries that are VTuber adjacent. The UTA fills that gap and helps them a lot, which explains most of their sponsors and collabs post joining.
Now, applying that to the UMG, they are likely using it for producers, distribution, recording booths, probably small venues on the future. It's beneficial for their musical careers that in a lot of ways, VShojo can't help them with.

Firstly, producing and founding, they probably will have a manager too. They will likely have easier access to a venue in the future, for example, it was them who pushed Cover to help her with a sololive. Basically a lot of good things for their singing ventures.

She has talked in the past about how it has been really a lot of job on top of what she has with Cover likely not a huge issue for them tho. They are quite nitpicky with budgets and what to do with it. I think that some covers can be a mess, so I don't doubt that's reason they went with "Univolt" rather than themselves.

No idea but probably no, Calli was the only one to join and still there's not been a lot following to that step.
