>>102060493For those who were actually here, vtubing was often strangely shitposty back on /jp/. The whole nijiniggers/brown seamonkey type talk was around to some degree before EN itself existed. /hlg/ was a breakoff to try to sequester that away, their own tower type moment. I recall being taken aback by people yelling about nijiniggers in /vyt/ wondering "literally WHO the fuck are these people, this isn't at all normal accepted discourse for /jp/."
Don't forget we also had people even in the hallowed OG /jp/ Global, getting super tribal about just the Myth girls. Trinityposting, deadbeats getting shat on nonstop because of the Mori TT interview etc. There were always strangely angry people in the vtuber fandom space. I suppose a combo of waifus+real money involved+trying to justify their own waste of effort by tearing down someone else to lord over. "I may like vtubers but at least I don't support _____, I have standards damnit!!"
Nobody ever wanted these raging retards around besides themselves. Even some towerfags are like "y-yeah I come to /vt/ just to shitpost because it's what it's for, e-everyone does it right h-haha." The whole "there must be le designated shitting street" mentality is only an excuse for anyone who cares 1000x too much about all this to have some way to try to feel like they are discussing something important and engaging. When they're not.
I get the impression it's like how teens and college kids might act like having some rank in an esports game is a fucking life or death matter only translated to vtubers and because poorfags dumping far more money into this than they should trying to make it much more important than it is.
