Exactly this is what I meant by trying too hard, forcing chemistry and making the whole USP revolve around shipping is just too inorganic to be enjoyable, for me. There IS an audience for that kind of manufactured dynamic, but as I said, its a risky/volatile audience

I just found this corpo while doing a bit of browsing. It looks like they're promoting girls a lot so people are probably going to expect they'll start out debuting girls or keep the whole branch all girls. I understand you guys really want to get into a corpo but if you ask me, I think you should explore more options and keep applying to FSP or any better, more established corpo. Where you apply can say a lot about you. You could use another group/branch as a stepping stone kinda like how some of the Nexas talents did, but that's going to take even longer. The truth of the matter is, there are limited spots in corpos.
Not every corpo is gonna be like NEXAS, who had like 100 debuts in a year.
Even Nijisanji at peak acceleration was still very competitive and exclusive to those with big numbers already.
The guys from FSP even said “IF there is a Gen 4” during the Gen 3 audition streams. It’s a very possible reality there are no auditions next year because they wanna focus on their current talents, which is what Holo said they’ll do too.
Holo hasn’t had a debut in a while and they’re probably gonna focus more on female debuts since that’s what they’ve lost the most.
And we don’t really see males leaving corpos (aside from Niji), so there’s not much pressure from these corpus to hire more men.
Patience is virtue but at the end of the day, it’s a lot of luck involved too.
I don’t wanna be in a mixed gender corpo, let alone gen, but being a nobody for so long it’s exhausting.

I’ve never had the chance to have a big break, people call me underrated all the time, which is nice at first but gets exhausting after 5 years.
I am friends with indies, but it’s a different relationship than having genmates.
I would love to have a group of 3-4 peers that have the same dreams and aspirations as me, and we all support each other and work together to achieve it. That’s what makes corpos so appealing to me.
Even if I could be given the choice of being a successful indie or go to a corpo, I’d definitely pick the corpo.
I am working even harder than before because I really wanna get somewhere, my plan is FSP too as that other anon, but when a new opportunity shows up, is it really a bad idea to try it? Especially when there’s uncertainty if FSP will open in the near future? At the very least I’d like to get past a first filter or get some interview experience. Maybe for ego reasons.

Corpo makes it optimal because they have applications and filter people who obviously don’t care about it much, and at the end of the day they sign a contract.
I can’t really do that with indies, my size. I can’t force them to stream or do as much content as I do, I’m not really gonna offer much to them because I’m not gonna pay them or be their manager or even be able to offer a manager.
Also there’s people who just straight up don’t like working in teams, even if they are passionate about content creation, they wanna do it solo. There’s a big shift in the mindset of western VTubing, where at first people’s biggest dream was to join a corpo, nowadays there’s more and more people who just wanna be a successful indie, for a myriad of reasons.
Most of my peers don’t care about this as much to put much effort into it, a good chunk would rather waste time watching female vtubers than working on offline content. And I’m not mad at that, they’re free to do whatever they want with their time. I just need committed people.

I’ll say this, for the past auditions I’ve felt very shitty afterwards for not making it. For various corpos.
But now I actually have a plan as an indie, I have things I wanna do that will potentially lead me to getting into a corpo someday. I’m working and cooking things, I’m really excited about content creation for the first time in a long time.
I’m saying this because even if I get rejected now by this new corpo, I don’t think it will send me down a spiral, because I have a backup plan. I feel like I’m in such a much more healthy mindset, so why not give it a try? I’d love to get experience even if I end up getting rejected. To get to an interview, even just one, would be a dream.
And even if I end up making it all the way, I’ll be sure to be careful and talk with the corpo about the things I wanna do and all that, and ultimately if I don’t feel like it’s gonna give me what I want, I can always say no. I promise to be diligent about this, if I feel anything sus I’ll back out cause I have my plan B.
As for new skills, I’m kinda focusing on honing more the skills I do currently posses. Don’t wanna overwork myself and burn out, but I’d love to work on learning more things in the future eventually. I’m also gonna try to get more opportunities to work on projects to get my name out there.

I like to watch very small indies starting out every now and then because they have that hopeful gleam in their eyes and remind me of me when I started and I like to refresh my memory of why I wanted to do this in the first place instead of going menhera.
And again the reason I wanna go corpo is like I stated, I’d like to have a group, support, team, manager, all that to help me, and I’ll return the favor doing the best I can for them. I want it to be my job too, even if it’s not full time, it’s still nice to be under contract and earning money that way. I’ve always been someone who works better being told what to do and following orders (without being a pushover), so I think I’d work well in that kind of environment.

We enjoy collabs with boys from other companies, but let this be a reason to focus mainly on curating your own fanbase instead of relying on trying to get fans from an existing fanbase of someone else. I'm not accusing anyone of leeching (that whole concept is retarded anyway and doesn't actually exist) and I have 0 problem with boys having friends in different corpos, but there are certain tactics I notice different boys do to try and attract fans of existing fanbases. There will always be overlapping fans, but I hope they use this as just one of the many reasons to put their efforts into attracting new fans (putting out covers, encouraging clippers and artists, hosting events, etc) instead of relying too much on overlapping ones. I see a LOT of people complaining about the overlap and I don't like how fans are assuming that everyone must also be a fan of niji and holostars. It's nothing too serious, but it's something to keep in mind.

It's weird because I've seen plenty of big supas in USD and people bring up USA events all the time. But I think because SEA voices outnumber them they get straight up ignored.
