But really, I think it's jealousy that these guys basically get to live out some of the very pathetic people into vtubing's dreams: talking to real girls into anime, not being looked down upon for it, having an okay - good sounding voice despite perhaps being a hideous beast. In all my years browsing this shithole, I can honestly say every dude anon's voice I have heard is either clearly Mexican/South American with a thick, heavy accent, they sound nasally and nerdy, or they sound like hillbilly hicks.
Then you have the culture surrounding the hobby. It's for lonely people, mostly men. You have the idea some Hololive talents sell people "we're idols, we won't get into relationships as long as we're working this job." And things like that get shattered when stuff like the Rushia shit happens, or when inevitably another GFE whore has, surprise surprise, a boyfriend. You even have girls like Korone, or her PL, saying something along the lines of "to do this job well you have to be single because often times your viewer is a lonely man with no friends or a girlfriend, and that people at work don't care about and never want to hear from them."
So compare that fucking nadir of an existence where you're a pest to people around essentially, and women/coworkers don't give you the time of day, to dudes basically chatting up your dream girl. It's just a painful reminder of reality, and this hobby is escapism at its peak.
