Is there any EN vtubers around that can actually manage to keep up kayfabe, i.e., stay in character? English vtubers seem allergic to separating their personal lives from their streams. When I watch streamers, that shit is tolerable. But when I watch vtubers, I ain't looking at whoever the hell you are legally. As far as I am concerned, you are an IRL anime girl made to entertain me, the viewer, and talk about your funny fictional anime girl stuff.

I thought the whole point of vtubing for these bitches was the separation of their IRL lives from their streaming careers. That's the whole point of the character names and introduction. But you can't have a good thing without the lowest denominator trying to cash in on it with their low effort slop, I guess.

So anons, any good EN vtubers around that can manage to keep up the kayfabe? Corporate or indie are both fine. Personality and everything else are secondary, I don't mind any GFE content, or if they're not interested in it. As a matter of fact, if either of those better matches their kayfabe, I'm good with it. All I'm concerned about is them staying in character. Nothing's perfect, but anywhere close to that will do.

Another good one is Motherv3. I haven't watched her in a long time, but she has a similar gimmick to Zen. She didn't start as a tts-themed AI though and it's well known that it's run by a boy and girl combo. They were pretty transparent about the whole thing for the months they were setting it up, and since then they only really break character for discord updates I think, but never on stream. I honestly don't remember whether it's the boy or the girl streaming, but I think they swap regularly?

It was pre-debut. They streamed for a while pre-debut while setting up all of the assets. The two of them are both really funny so it doesn't really matter. Once they got their debut and model properly done, they started the TTS voice and haven't dropped it since.

The kayfabe thing started dying in JP and fully died once western EN vtubing became common after Myth debuted. No one really does cool lore stuff because actually putting in effort to be creative doesn't necessarily pay off, the audience might find it "cringe" which is a word that has lost all meaning. The western audience in general consists mostly of irony-poisoned people that cannot enjoy things in a genuine way, and the streamers they watch most of the time, vtuber or not, are the same way. Speak for yourself, the corpo I watch makes lore a main part of its appeal. Even the voice packs and membership posts are lore-focused.

I don't mind if a vtuber talks about some IRL stories if they can kayfabe-ify it, if you will. For example "back in my village when I was small, my dog likes to run around my ship, etc".

Kayfabe is not staying in character, it's the veneer of character until some event or tongue in cheek character until some event. Nobody that does kayfabe can do acting, and nobody that does acting or RP does kayfabe.
