What's stopping the kang from moving to h1 or the rook from taking the queen at g2?
Anonymous No.102286360 [Report] >>102286392
>>102286262
The rook is pinned by the black bishop

How does that stop the kang from going to h1?

When the queen is still at g3, that is.
Anonymous No.102286433 [Report]

the queen just goes to g1

Move the queen to g1 after taking the pawn at g3. Its guarded by the black rook

I dunno. I just feel it's a bit of a con to claim there to be a solution when in fact there must be two.
Anonymous No.102289681 [Report]
>>102289511
I mean there is literally only one solution to secure a checkmate in the fewest moves possible
Anonymous No.102289768 [Report]
>>102289511
There's a single first move.
Anonymous No.102290310 [Report] >>102290365
>>102289511
The claim is not that there is one solution (although sometimes there is), it's that mate will follow in two moves regardless of what the opponent does
Anonymous No.102290365 [Report] >>102290464 >>102290900 >>102291931
>>102290310
So if the claim were mate in two, but the puzzle offered a forking path in which one mates in two, but the other mates in three then what?
Anonymous No.102290464 [Report]
>>102290365
you still call it a mate in 2 because that's the shortest mating sequence that can be executed

>>102290365
Puzzles like these usually aim for you to find the quickest way to mate, which usually is just one solution.
In this case the queen taking the pawn in g3 is pretty much the common denominator
Anonymous No.102291931 [Report]
>>102290365
You have to find the mate in two.
