A certain event is approaching in about 2 weeks, and we wanted to ask you guys about a potential change in our team logo. We received a potential revised design from a group of anons and we wanted to see what other people thought about it. Included is a poll on whether the board wants to use this new logo, or stay with our old logo.

A new logo was in the works, but is currently in development hell. Until said new logo gets out of development hell, revamping the current logo works as both a stopgap and compromise.

Heh, I can see all three of my feedback suggestions being incorporated here. Definitely an improvement over the first proposal.
I for one like the new 'VT' lettering. If there's anything to complain about still it's the colors (both for the letters and the logo overall) being dark and similar enough to make it slightly difficult to read at a glance. But nowhere near as bad as the original blue block letters, and I'd be fine with it as-is.
I still think the line-breaks in the rings add way too much visual noise, but having OGEY RRAT back in breaks it up enough to give a serious improvement.
I could still see some small tweaking to improve it even more, but overall it looks good enough to go.

hmmm i haven't visited these threads for a while for various reasons but if i may suggest something!
theres lots of art inclined anons, i know the vtl logos and many othwr things have been crowdsourced! and so have many many other cool things like most everything in the vtl!
i really like many of the things that are changing! i like that there wipl be more emotes and that theres going to hopefully be better polls and maybe more board participation and anyway my point is...

why not have a logo contest? the mechanics can be discussed later but the core idea is involving the board!
maybe art inclined anons can make submissions, maybe people can vote on what elements theyd like to be in the logo, and on color schemes and maybe it could be publicized and maybe we could end up with somethong that everyone likes or at least doesn't completely hate but more importantly, something people participate in!

i really think the point of all of these events is to have fun ans do something cool together so i think something like that might be fun and bring joy!

i dont think that's super hard, the rules/peruod could be placed here or on the wiki and well, even if some of the threads get nuked we are in one right now aren't we?

everyone involved with vtl uses the wiki and really people just have to spread the link while not being too annoying, i dunno, if it doesn't work or nobody plays we can say we tried, but i think it might be fun!

The original design and concept of the /vt/ logo is over 4 years old at this point. The revamp that I posted is like a month old with some various tweaks here and there to get it ready for anons to vote on it.

Because our old logo's orange colour stems from >>3054835 trying to balance with light blue,
we should change what shade of orange we go with if we're changing the shade of light blue.

Arguments for old orange:
Kiryuu Coco's colour, bright orange compliments light blue, pekora's carrots

First of all, thanks for anyone who submitted some feedback. I've tested the various suggestions you've sent, and the image a few replies above is just one of many sent to those in charge.
Secondly, and that's why I responded to you specifically - I would tend to cut the ogey rrat.
The reason is quite simple: the actual size of the logo. And paradoxically, I'm not talking about the size you currently see, but the one you'll see most during the stream - here to be exact: https://files.catbox.moe/ba8kor.png
Do you know what the dimensions are? A 100*100px square (if you are looking at it in a 16:9 aspect ratio most likely). Realistically, I'm working on something visible at that size. Notice how on the old logo you have to strain your eyes just to read /vt/, and ogey rrat is practically indistinguishable - this is also why I chose large letters in my version of /vt/.

If we're keeping them, I suggest elaborating on the symbology.
I suggest connecting it with valkyries.
They are typically portrayed as maidens with winged crowns or helmets. I find this similar to how quite a number of chuubas have head wings. For male chuubas, Hermes may be apt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winged_helmet

Valkyries are women who brings the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla where they they serve them feasts and mead, and care for them until Ragnarok where the world goes to shit, gods clash and everybody dies.
Similarly
Chuubas are women who guides goslings to the Interwebs where they entertain them with memes and art, and accompany them until the next Happening™ where everything goes to shit, world powers clash, and everybody dies.
