NTA, but imagine you're lost in the middle of a desert and dying from thirst. There is no water to be found for thousands of miles around you, but one day you stumble over an oasis. "Finally, at last!" you might shout, if you even have the energy to, but when you get to the pool of water you find out it's stagnant, brackish, slick with some kind of oil, smells like rotting fish, and there are dozens of dead bodies floating in it. Posted on a sign next to the water is a brightly colored picture of a happy, smiling, slightly lewd anime girl.

Watching vtubers is drinking that water. You know it's bad for you. You know it's poison. But it's the only thing around for thousands and thousands of miles in your isolated, empty, hopeless, bleak, lonely life. Maybe if you drink enough it will just kill you, maybe that thought makes you feel relieved.

Never a depression thing, but they were/are a fun thing to watch for the limited time I'm home alone and at my computer. I'll say FWMC burned me out on Holo though, their 24/7 shill brain really soured me on most of Holo and made me realize just how much trash they're pushing all the time, plus they're fully unabashed about it unlike the talents I watch along side them who make it sound like they're at least a little bit sorry for trying to get you to waste gobs of money.
