It wasn't JUST the boyfriend announcements (although it didn't help). it was the constant time off with several months of no streams. you can get away with that in a corpo because of the built in brand loyalty but as an indie if you are constantly taking time off it will kill your audience as they go to other options

She'll lose 10-15% of her audience. I'm canceling my membership but since no one fucking good streams at east coast prime time I'll still have her on for background noise.

The problem with Nyanners is she's a snake, and actively hates her audience.

100%. There's going to be a lot of support early on followed by a gradual drop in views and donations. For her more dedicated fans the illusion will be dead, especially because she didn't do anything to clarify the new approach early on during debut.

She'll get a boost for a week or 2 from the drama tourists, then she'll slowly bleed viewers until after a year or 2 she's barely hitting 4 views. Not once have I ever seen a vtuber benefit from revealing they're in a relationship, like I get that she wants to have a family but just keep it secret like everyone else does. You're playing a character, you don't have to share your entire life...

Well if she also wants to be upfront about it, its better to just rip that bandaid off extremely early on and not drag out the process. Sure growth will be slow and there will be some disappointed people, but like how ERB/Mori/Ollie/Bae collabed or showed interest in collabing with dudes early on, it can't be held against them in a way that sticks.

Her appeal is the most similar to a normal streamer of all the en vtubers I watched which is probably why I watched in the first place. People like that will always have an audience, the standard for female streamers is very low in the west so unless the entire market collapses anyone with any amount of charisma will be fine.
